αλληλουια εξομολογεισθε τω κυριω οτι χρηστος οτι εις τον αιωνα το ελεος αυτου | 1 Hallelujah! Give thanks to the LORD, who is good, whose love endures forever. |
ειπατωσαν οι λελυτρωμενοι υπο κυριου ους ελυτρωσατο εκ χειρος εχθρου | 2 Who can tell the mighty deeds of the LORD, proclaim in full God's praise? |
εκ των χωρων συνηγαγεν αυτους απο ανατολων και δυσμων και βορρα και θαλασσης | 3 Happy those who do what is right, whose deeds are always just. |
επλανηθησαν εν τη ερημω εν ανυδρω οδον πολεως κατοικητηριου ουχ ευρον | 4 Remember me, LORD, as you favor your people; come to me with your saving help, |
πεινωντες και διψωντες η ψυχη αυτων εν αυτοις εξελιπεν | 5 That I may see the prosperity of your chosen, rejoice in the joy of your people, and glory with your heritage. |
και εκεκραξαν προς κυριον εν τω θλιβεσθαι αυτους και εκ των αναγκων αυτων ερρυσατο αυτους | 6 We have sinned like our ancestors; we have done wrong and are guilty. |
και ωδηγησεν αυτους εις οδον ευθειαν του πορευθηναι εις πολιν κατοικητηριου | 7 Our ancestors in Egypt did not attend to your wonders. They did not remember your great love; they defied the Most High at the Red Sea. |
εξομολογησασθωσαν τω κυριω τα ελεη αυτου και τα θαυμασια αυτου τοις υιοις των ανθρωπων | 8 Yet he saved them for his name's sake to make his power known. |
οτι εχορτασεν ψυχην κενην και ψυχην πεινωσαν ενεπλησεν αγαθων | 9 He roared at the Red Sea and it dried up. He led them through the deep as through a desert. |
καθημενους εν σκοτει και σκια θανατου πεπεδημενους εν πτωχεια και σιδηρω | 10 He rescued them from hostile hands, freed them from the power of the enemy. |
οτι παρεπικραναν τα λογια του θεου και την βουλην του υψιστου παρωξυναν | 11 The waters covered their oppressors; not one of them survived. |
και εταπεινωθη εν κοποις η καρδια αυτων ησθενησαν και ουκ ην ο βοηθων | 12 Then they believed his words and sang songs of praise. |
και εκεκραξαν προς κυριον εν τω θλιβεσθαι αυτους και εκ των αναγκων αυτων εσωσεν αυτους | 13 But they soon forgot all he had done; they had no patience for his plan. |
και εξηγαγεν αυτους εκ σκοτους και σκιας θανατου και τους δεσμους αυτων διερρηξεν | 14 In the desert they gave way to their cravings, tempted God in the wasteland. |
εξομολογησασθωσαν τω κυριω τα ελεη αυτου και τα θαυμασια αυτου τοις υιοις των ανθρωπων | 15 So he gave them what they asked and sent among them a wasting disease. |
οτι συνετριψεν πυλας χαλκας και μοχλους σιδηρους συνεκλασεν | 16 In the camp they challenged Moses and Aaron, the holy one of the LORD. |
αντελαβετο αυτων εξ οδου ανομιας αυτων δια γαρ τας ανομιας αυτων εταπεινωθησαν | 17 The earth opened and swallowed Dathan, it closed on the followers of Abiram. |
παν βρωμα εβδελυξατο η ψυχη αυτων και ηγγισαν εως των πυλων του θανατου | 18 Against that company the fire blazed; flames consumed the wicked. |
και εκεκραξαν προς κυριον εν τω θλιβεσθαι αυτους και εκ των αναγκων αυτων εσωσεν αυτους | 19 At Horeb they fashioned a calf, worshiped a metal statue. |
απεστειλεν τον λογον αυτου και ιασατο αυτους και ερρυσατο αυτους εκ των διαφθορων αυτων | 20 They exchanged their glorious God for the image of a grass-eating bull. |
εξομολογησασθωσαν τω κυριω τα ελεη αυτου και τα θαυμασια αυτου τοις υιοις των ανθρωπων | 21 They forgot the God who saved them, who did great deeds in Egypt, |
και θυσατωσαν θυσιαν αινεσεως και εξαγγειλατωσαν τα εργα αυτου εν αγαλλιασει | 22 Amazing deeds in the land of Ham, fearsome deeds at the Red Sea. |
οι καταβαινοντες εις την θαλασσαν εν πλοιοις ποιουντες εργασιαν εν υδασι πολλοις | 23 He would have decreed their destruction, had not Moses, the chosen leader, Withstood him in the breach to turn back his destroying anger. |
αυτοι ειδοσαν τα εργα κυριου και τα θαυμασια αυτου εν τω βυθω | 24 Next they despised the beautiful land; they did not believe the promise. |
ειπεν και εστη πνευμα καταιγιδος και υψωθη τα κυματα αυτης | 25 In their tents they complained; they did not obey the LORD. |
αναβαινουσιν εως των ουρανων και καταβαινουσιν εως των αβυσσων η ψυχη αυτων εν κακοις ετηκετο | 26 So with raised hand he swore to destroy them in the desert, |
εταραχθησαν εσαλευθησαν ως ο μεθυων και πασα η σοφια αυτων κατεποθη | 27 To scatter their descendants among the nations, disperse them in foreign lands. |
και εκεκραξαν προς κυριον εν τω θλιβεσθαι αυτους και εκ των αναγκων αυτων εξηγαγεν αυτους | 28 They joined in the rites of Baal of Peor, ate food sacrificed to dead gods. |
και επεταξεν τη καταιγιδι και εστη εις αυραν και εσιγησαν τα κυματα αυτης | 29 They provoked him by their actions, and a plague broke out among them. |
και ευφρανθησαν οτι ησυχασαν και ωδηγησεν αυτους επι λιμενα θεληματος αυτων | 30 Then Phinehas rose to intervene, and the plague was brought to a halt. |
εξομολογησασθωσαν τω κυριω τα ελεη αυτου και τα θαυμασια αυτου τοις υιοις των ανθρωπων | 31 This was counted for him as a righteous deed for all generations to come. |
υψωσατωσαν αυτον εν εκκλησια λαου και εν καθεδρα πρεσβυτερων αινεσατωσαν αυτον | 32 At the waters of Meribah they angered God, and Moses suffered because of them. |
εθετο ποταμους εις ερημον και διεξοδους υδατων εις διψαν | 33 They so embittered his spirit that rash words crossed his lips. |
γην καρποφορον εις αλμην απο κακιας των κατοικουντων εν αυτη | 34 They did not destroy the peoples as the LORD had commanded them, |
εθετο ερημον εις λιμνας υδατων και γην ανυδρον εις διεξοδους υδατων | 35 But mingled with the nations and imitated their ways. |
και κατωκισεν εκει πεινωντας και συνεστησαντο πολιν κατοικεσιας | 36 They worshiped their idols and were ensnared by them. |
και εσπειραν αγρους και εφυτευσαν αμπελωνας και εποιησαν καρπον γενηματος | 37 They sacrificed to the gods their own sons and daughters, |
και ευλογησεν αυτους και επληθυνθησαν σφοδρα και τα κτηνη αυτων ουκ εσμικρυνεν | 38 Shedding innocent blood, the blood of their own sons and daughters, Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, desecrating the land with bloodshed. |
και ωλιγωθησαν και εκακωθησαν απο θλιψεως κακων και οδυνης | 39 They defiled themselves by their actions, became adulterers by their conduct. |
εξεχυθη εξουδενωσις επ' αρχοντας και επλανησεν αυτους εν αβατω και ουχ οδω | 40 So the LORD grew angry with his people, abhorred his own heritage. |
και εβοηθησεν πενητι εκ πτωχειας και εθετο ως προβατα πατριας | 41 He handed them over to the nations, and their adversaries ruled them. |
οψονται ευθεις και ευφρανθησονται και πασα ανομια εμφραξει το στομα αυτης | 42 Their enemies oppressed them, kept them under subjection. |
τις σοφος και φυλαξει ταυτα και συνησουσιν τα ελεη του κυριου | 43 Many times did he rescue them, but they kept rebelling and scheming and were brought low by their own guilt. |
Still God had regard for their affliction when he heard their wailing.
For their sake he remembered his covenant and relented in his abundant love,
Winning for them compassion from all who held them captive.
Save us, LORD, our God; gather us from among the nations That we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in praising you.
Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting! Let all the people say, Amen! Hallelujah! |
