KING JAMES BIBLENOVA VULGATA
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?1 Quid ergo dicemus? Perma nebimus in peccato, ut gratia abundet?
God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?2 Absit! Qui enim mortui sumus peccato, quomodo adhuc vivemus in illo?
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?3 Anignoratis quia, quicumque baptizati sumus in Christum Iesum, in mortem ipsiusbaptizati sumus?
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.4 Consepulti ergo sumus cum illo per baptismum in mortem, utquemadmodum suscitatus est Christus a mortuis per gloriam Patris, ita et nos innovitate vitae ambulemus.
For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:5 Si enim complantati facti sumus similitudini mortiseius, sed et resurrectionis erimus;
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.6 hoc scientes quia vetus homo noster simulcrucifixus est, ut destruatur corpus peccati, ut ultra non serviamus peccato.
For he that is dead is freed from sin.7 Qui enim mortuus est, iustificatus est a peccato.
Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:8 Si autem mortui sumus cum Christo, credimus quia simul etiam vivemus cum eo;
Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.9 scientes quod Christus suscitatus ex mortuis iam non moritur, mors illi ultranon dominatur.
For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.10 Quod enim mortuus est, peccato mortuus est semel; quod autemvivit, vivit Deo.
Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.11 Ita et vos existimate vos mortuos quidem esse peccato,viventes autem Deo in Christo Iesu.
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.12 Non ergo regnet peccatum in vestro mortali corpore, ut oboediatisconcupiscentiis eius,
Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.13 neque exhibeatis membra vestra arma iniustitiaepeccato, sed exhibete vos Deo tamquam ex mortuis viventes et membra vestra armaiustitiae Deo.
For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.14 Peccatum enim vobis non dominabitur; non enim sub lege estissed sub gratia.
What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.15 Quid ergo? Peccabimus, quoniam non sumus sub lege sed sub gratia? Absit!
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?16 Nescitis quoniam, cui exhibetis vos servos ad oboedientiam, servi estis eius,cui oboeditis, sive peccati ad mortem, sive oboeditionis ad iustitiam?
But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.17 Gratias autem Deo quod fuistis servi peccati, oboedistis autem ex corde in eamformam doctrinae, in quam traditi estis,
Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.18 liberati autem a peccato servi factiestis iustitiae.
I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.19 Humanum dico propter infirmitatem carnis vestrae. Sicut enim exhibuistismembra vestra servientia immunditiae et iniquitati ad iniquitatem, ita nuncexhibete membra vestra servientia iustitiae ad sanctificationem.
For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.20 Cum enimservi essetis peccati, liberi eratis iustitiae.
What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.21 Quem ergo fructum habebatistunc, in quibus nunc erubescitis? Nam finis illorum mors!
But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.22 Nunc vero liberatia peccato, servi autem facti Deo, habetis fructum vestrum in sanctificationem,finem vero vitam aeternam!
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.23 Stipendia enim peccati mors, donum autem Dei vitaaeterna in Christo Iesu Domino nostro.
