1 And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho.	1 Ed entrato, andò Iesù per Gerico.
2 And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich.	2 Ed ecco uno uomo, il quale avea nome Zaccheo, il quale era principe de' pubblicani, ed era ricco.
3 And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature.	3 E cercava vedere Iesù, qual fosse; e non poteva per la molta turba, imperò ch' era piccolo di persona.
4 And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.	4 E correndo inanzi, salì su uno arboro di moro salvatico, per vedere Iesù che doveva passare.
5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house.	5 E giungendo Iesù a quel luogo, guardò e videlo, e dissegli: Zaccheo, (affrèttati e) discendi presto, imperò che oggi [mi] è di bisogno rimanere nella casa tua.
6 And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.	6 E incontanente discese, e ricevette Iesù (in casa sua) con (gran festa e) allegrezza.
7 And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.	7 E conciò fosse cosa che da tutti fosse veduto, mormoravano, dicendo che all' uomo peccatore fusse venuto.
8 And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.	8 Ma stando Zaccheo, disse a Iesù: ecco, la metà de' miei beni, Signore, io do alli poveri; e se nulla a niuno ho defraudato, io rendoli in quattro doppii.
9 And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.	9 Allora disse a lui Iesù: questa casa è oggi fatta salva, conciosia che etiam esso è figliuolo di Abraam.
10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.	10 Certo egli è venuto il Figliuolo dell' uomo a cercare e fare salvo quel ch' era perito.
11 And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.	11 Udendo quelli queste cose, aggiungendo disse la parabola, conciosia ch' egli fusse appresso Ierusalem, e coloro pensavano che incontanente si manifestasse il regno di Dio.
12 He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.	12 Disse adunque (per similitudine) di uno uomo nobile, che andò in lontani paesi a pigliare uno reame, e tornare.
13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.	13 E (prima ch' egli andasse) chiamò dieci de' suoi servi, e dètte a loro dieci monete, e disse a loro: guadagnate con esse, tanto che ritorni.
14 But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.	14 Ma li suoi cittadini, avendolo in odio, mandorono ambasciatori dopo lui, dicendo: noi non volemo che questo regni (più sopra noi).
15 And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.	15 E preso ch' egli ebbe il reame, e tornato che fu, chiamò a sè gli servi suoi alli quali avea data la pecunia, e volse sapere quanto egli aveano guadagnato.
16 Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.	16 E venne a lui il primo, e disse: signore, con la pecunia tua, che tu mi dèsti, io ho guadagnato diece.
17 And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.	17 Ed egli disse: allègrati, o servo buono; dopo che nel poco sei stato fedele, tu averai potestà sopra diece città.
18 And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.	18 E l'altro venne a lui, e disse: signore, con la moneta tua io ho guadagnato cinque.
19 And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities.	19 E il signore disse a lui: e tu sarai sopra cinque città.
20 And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin:	20 E l'altro venne, e disse: signore, la moneta tua, che tu mi dèsti, io l'ho riposta nel sudario.
21 For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow.	21 Imperò ch' io temetti di te, che sei uomo anstero; imperò che tu togli quel che non ponesti, e mieti dove tu non seminasti.
22 And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:	22 E il signore gli disse: colla bocca tua ti giudico, servo reo; sapevi tu, ch' io era uomo austero, e toglio dove non diedi, e mieto dove non seminai?
23 Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?	23 Adunque perchè non dèsti la pecunia mia a usura, sì che tornato ch' io fussi l' arei richiesta coll' usura?
24 And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds.	24 E disse a quelli che gli stavano presenti : tollete da lui la pecunia, e datela a colui il qual n' ha diece.
25 (And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.)	25 Ed eglino dissero: signore, egli ne ha diece.
26 For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.	26 (E poi disse): io dico a voi, che ciascuno che ha, gli sarà dato, e abbonderà; ma a colui che ha poco, quel tanto ch' egli ha sarà tolto a lui.
27 But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.	27 Ma arrecatemi quivi a me quelli miei inimici li quali non volsero ch' io regnassi sopra di sè, e dinanzi da me uccideteli.
28 And when he had thus spoken, he went before, ascending up to Jerusalem.	28 E dette queste cose, andava inanzi ascendendo in Ierosolima.
29 And it came to pass, when he was come nigh to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,	29 E fatto è, che appressandosi a Betfage e a Betania, al monte chiamato Oliveto, mandò due dei suoi discepoli,
30 Saying, Go ye into the village over against you; in the which at your entering ye shall find a colt tied, whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him hither.	30 dicendo: andate nel castello ch' è contra di voi; nel qual entrati, troverete il poledro dell' asina alligato, sopra il quale già mai nullo uomo sedette; scioglietelo, e menatelo.
31 And if any man ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say unto him, Because the Lord hath need of him.	31 E se alcuno vi dirà: il perchè il sciogliete a tal modo? dicerete come il Signore desidera di averlo in sua opera.
32 And they that were sent went their way, and found even as he had said unto them.	32 E quelli ch' erano stati mandati, andorono, e trovorono stante il poledro a modo ch' egli gli avea detto.
33 And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loose ye the colt?	33 Onde sciogliendo quelli il poledro, dissero a loro gli signori di quello: il perchè sciogliete il poledro?
34 And they said, The Lord hath need of him.	34 E quelli dissero: imperò che il Signore ne ha bisogno.
35 And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon.	35 E loro il menorono a Iesù; e gittando loro vestimenta sopra il poledro, posero Iesù di sopra.
36 And as he went, they spread their clothes in the way.	36 Ed egli andante, estendevano le sue vestimenta nella via.
37 And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;	37 E già appressandosi al discendere del monte Oliveto, incominciarono tutte le turbe de' discepoli con grande voce (lietamente) e con allegrezza a lodare Dio sopra tutte le virtù che loro aveano vedute,
38 Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.	38 dicendo: egli è benedetto il re che viene nel nome del Signore; egli è la pace in cielo, e ne' luoghi eccelsi egli è la gloria.
39 And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.	39 E alcuni de' Farisei della turba dicevano a quello: maestro, riprendi li tuoi discepoli.
40 And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.	40 Alli quali lui disse: dico a voi, perchè se quelli tacessero, gridarebbono le pietre.
41 And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,	41 E appropinquandosi, vide la città; ed egli pianse sopra lei, e disse:
42 Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.	42 se tu conoscessi, piangeresti; imperò che tu hai in questi giorni quelle cose che ti sono alla pace; ma egli è nascoso dagli occhi tuoi
43 For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,	43 li giorni ne' quali verranno gli inimici tuoi, e circonderannoti intorno intorno, (e struggeranno te e' tuoi figliuoli);
44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.	44 e gitteranno te per terra, e' tuoi figliuoli li quali sono in te, e non lasciaranno in te pietra sopra pietra; imperò che non conoscesti il tempo della tua visitazione.
45 And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought;	45 Ed entrando nel tempio, incominciò a cacciare coloro che vendevano e comperavano.
46 Saying unto them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves.	46 E disse a loro: scritto è, che la mia casa sì è casa di orazione; e voi l' avete fatta spelonca di ladroni.
47 And he taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy him,	47 E stava continuamente nel tempio, e ammaestrava. Onde gli principi de' sacerdoti e gli Scribi e gli principi del popolo cercavano di ucciderlo.
48 And could not find what they might do: for all the people were very attentive to hear him.	48 Ma non trovavano cosa alcuna, per la qual a lui potessero opponere meritamente; imperò che, udendolo, tutto il popolo stava ammirativo.
