KING JAMES BIBLEBIBBIA TINTORI
Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.1 L'anno trentesimo, il quarto mese, ai cinque del mese, mentre io me ne stava in mezzo agli esiliati, presso il fiume Cobar, si apersero i cieli, e vidi le visioni di Dio.
In the fifth day of the month, which was the fifth year of king Jehoiachin's captivity,2 Ai cinque del mese (era l'anno quinto dopo la deportazione del re Ioachim)
The word of the LORD came expressly unto Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of the LORD was there upon him.3 la parola del Signore fu indirizzata ad Ezechiele, sacerdote, figlio di Buzi, nel paese dei Caldei, presso il fiume Cobar, e lì fu su di lui la mano del Signore.
And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire.4 E vidi, ed ecco un vento di tempesta venir dal settentrione, una gran nube, un fuoco avvolgente, circondato di splendore, e nel suo centro, in mezzo al fuoco, brillava una specie di elettro.
Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man.5 Nel mezzo Fimmagine di quattro animali, ed eccone l'aspetto: somigliavano all'uomo;
And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings.6 ma ciascuno aveva quattro facce, ciascuno aveva quattro ali.
And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass.7 I loro piedi eran dei piedi dritti, e la pianta dei loro piedi era come la pianta del piede d'un vitello, e scintillavano come rame incandescente.
And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings.8 Avevano ai quattro lati, sotto le ali, mani d'uomo, ed avevan facce ed ali dai quattro lati.
Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward.9 Le loro ali erano unite l'una all'altra, nel camminare non tornavano indietro, ma ciascuno andava in direzione della sua faccia.
As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.10 Ecco l'aspetto delle loro facce: tutti e quattro avevano faccia d'uomo e di leone alla loro destra; tutti e quattro avevano faccia di bove a sinistra; al disopra di tutti e quattro v'era la faccia dell'aquila.
Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.11 Così le loro facce. Le loro ali si stendevano in alto, due ali di ciascuno si univano, e due coprivano il loro corpo.
And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went.12 Ciascuno di essi andava in direzione della sua faccia, andavano dove portava l'impeto dello spirito, e nel camminare non si volgevano indietro.
As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning.13 In quanto alla forma degli animali, il loro aspetto era come fuoco di carboni ardenti e come faci accese. Ecco quanto vedevo scorrere nel mezzo degli animali: splendore di fuoco, e dal fuoco uscir folgori.
And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.14 E gli animali andavano e venivano a somiglianza di folgori lampeggianti.
Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces.15 Mentre stavo a guardare gli animali, apparve in terra presso gli animali una ruota che aveva quattro facce.
The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.16 L'aspetto delle ruote e la loro struttura era come la vista del mare, e tutte quattro si somigliavano, e il loro aspetto e la loro struttura era come di una ruota in mezzo a un'altra ruota.
When they went, they went upon their four sides: and they turned not when they went.17 Esse andavano costantemente pei loro quattro lati, e nell'andare non si volgevano indietro.
As for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful; and their rings were full of eyes round about them four.18 La grandezza e l'altezza delle ruote era spaventosa a vedersi, e tutta la superfìcie delle quattro ruote era piena d'occhi.
And when the living creatures went, the wheels went by them: and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.19 E quando camminavano gli animali, si movevano parimenti ai loro lati anche le ruote, e quando gli animali s'alzavano da terra, si alzavano insieme anche le ruote.
Whithersoever the spirit was to go, they went, thither was their spirit to go; and the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.20 Dovunque andava lo spirito, là, dietro allo spirito s'alzavano parimenti anche le ruote, seguitandolo, essendo nelle ruote lo spirito della vita.
When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.21 Se (gli animali) andavano, esse andavano, se essi stavano fermi, esse stavano ferme, e se essi s'alzavano da terra, s'alzavano da terra anche le ruote, seguendoli, essendo nelle ruote lo spirito della vita.
And the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living creature was as the colour of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above.22 Sopra le teste degli animali v'era la figura del firmamento, ed aveva l'aspetto di stupendo cristallo disteso sopra le loro teste.
And under the firmament were their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one had two, which covered on this side, and every one had two, which covered on that side, their bodies.23 Sotto il firmamento stavano le loro ali stese, quella dell'uno a quella dell'altro, ciascuno con due ali velava il suo corpo, e l'altro allo stesso modo era velato.
And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of an host: when they stood, they let down their wings.24 Ed io stavo a sentire il rumore delle ali, simile al rumore d'immense acque, simile alla voce del sublime Dio; se camminavano, il rumore era come quello d'immensa moltitudine, come il rumore d'una armata; quando stavan fermi s'abbassavano le loro ali.
And there was a voice from the firmament that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings.25 Or, quando si faceva sentire una voce sopra il firmamento che era sopra le loro teste, stavan fermi, ed abbassavano le loro ali.
And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.26 E sul firmamento che stava al di sopra delle loro teste appariva come una pietra di zaffiro in forma di trono e sopra questa specie di trono vi stava uno che sembrava all'aspetto un uomo e dentro di lui
And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.27 e all'intorno io vidi una specie di elettro, come l'apparenza del fuoco, e, dai suoi lombi al di sopra e dai suoi lombi al di sotto, vidi come una specie di fuoco che risplendeva all'intorno.
As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.28 Come l'aspetto dell'arcobaleno quando si forma nella nube in giorno di pioggia, tale era l'aspetto dello splendor all'intorno.
