Isaiah 55

1 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.	1 Voi che avete sete, venite tutti alle acque; e voi che non avete argento, affrettatevi e comperate e mangiate; venite, e comperate sanza argento e sanza alcuna commutazione (di voi, e togliete) del vino e del latte.
2 Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.	2 Per che ponete l'argento vostro, e non in pane, e ponete la vostre fatica, e non la ponete sì che ve ne saturiate? (cioè che non adoperarono le cose, che Iddio dà loro, in cose divine, ma in terrene). O voi i quali udite, [udite] me, e manicate lo bene, e la vostra anima si dilettarà nella grassezza, (cioè che quando l' uomo fa lo bene in bene vivere, e in bene fare delle limosine e in digiunare, allora s' ingrasserà l'anima in bene fare).
3 Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.	3 E inchinate le vostre orecchie, e venite a me; e udite me, e viverà la vostra anima, e farò con voi lo patto sempiterno, cioè le misericordie del fedele David. (Così sarà a voi, che n' ebbe cotanta misericordia).
4 Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people.	4 Ecco ch' io l' hoe dato per testimonio a' populi, per duca e per precettore alle genti.
5 Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, and nations that knew not thee shall run unto thee because of the LORD thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee.	5 Ecco, le genti chiamerai, le quali tu non conoscevi; e le genti, le quali non ti conobbono, correranno a te per lo tuo Signore Iddio e santo di Israel, però che ti glorificò.
6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:	6 Cercate lo Signore, mentre ch' egli si puote trovare; chiamatelo, mentre ch' egli è appresso.
7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.	7 Abbandoni (e lasci) lo spietato la sua (mala) via, e lo malvagio lasci li suoi pensieri, e torni a Dio, però ch' egli averà misericordia di lui; e ritornino al nostro Signore Iddio, però ch' egli hae in sè molta perdonanza (e misericordia).
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.	8 Però che (Iddio dice) le mie cogitazioni non sono fatte come le vostre, nè le vostre vie sono vie mie, dice lo Signore.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.	9 Però che come lo cielo è di lungi dalla terra, così sono le mie vie dalle vostre, e le mie cogitazioni dalle vostre cogitazioni.
10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:	10 E sì come le acque e le nevi discendono dallo cielo, e non vi ritornano più, ma inèbriano e bagnano la terra, e fanla fare frutto, e dà lo seme al seminante, e lo pane a manicare;
11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.	11 così sarà la mia parola, la quale uscirà della bocca mia; non ritornerà a me vôta, ma farà ogni cosa della quale io hoe volontà, e sarà prospera (e avventurosa) in tutte quelle cose le quali io comandai.
12 For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.	12 Però che con letizia voi uscirete fuori, e con pace sarete menati; li monti e li colli canteranno dinanzi a voi laude, e tutti li arbori della contrada dimostreranno letizia colle mani.
13 Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.	13 L'abete sarà per la spina, e l'arboro che fa la mirra crescerà per l'ortica; e lo Signore sarà nominato in miracolo eterno, lo quale non sarà tolto via. (Notasi quello verso, che dice: l'abete sarà per la spina. E per l' abete s' intende l'uomo virtuoso, lo quale sale, cioè che si sforza di fare bene per la spina, cioè per la paura della spina; però che quando l'uomo sente dove sieno le spine, per la paura ch' elle non lo tocchino nelli suoi piedi e nelle sue carni, sì procaccia di fuggirsene più tosto che puote; però che allora l' uomo sale, quando fugge lo peccato e lo malfare, allora l' uomo scende, quando sta e lascia pugnere alle spine. E poi dice: per la mirra cresce l'ortica, cioè per paura che l'ortica non lo punga. L'ortica sì hae natura di fuoco; sì che la mirra, per poter fare lo suo frutto odorifero, cresce per[che] l'ortica non lo impedimentisca).
