Esther 7

KING JAMES BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 The great king Artexerxes unto the princes and governors of an hundred and seven and twenty provinces from India unto Ethiopia, and unto all our faithful subjects, greeting.	1 Le roi et Aman allèrent banqueter chez la reine Esther,
2 Many, the more often they are honoured with the great bounty of their gracious princes, the more proud they are waxen,	2 et ce deuxième jour, pendant le banquet, le roi dit encore à Esther: "Dis-moi ce que tu demandes,reine Esther, c'est accordé d'avance! Dis-moi ce que tu désires; serait-ce la moitié du royaume, c'est chose faite"--
3 And endeavour to hurt not our subjects only, but not being able to bear abundance, do take in hand to practise also against those that do them good:	3 "Si vraiment j'ai trouvé grâce à tes yeux, ô roi, lui répondit la reine Esther, et si tel est ton bon plaisir,accorde-moi la vie, voilà ma demande, et la vie de mon peuple, voilà mon désir.
4 And take not only thankfulness away from among men, but also lifted up with the glorious words of lewd persons, that were never good, they think to escape the justice of God, that seeth all things and hateth evil.	4 Car nous sommes livrés, mon peuple et moi, à l'extermination, à la tuerie et à l'anéantissement. Siencore nous avions seulement été livrés comme esclaves ou servantes, je me serais tue. Mais en l'occurrence lepersécuteur sera hors d'état de compenser le dommage qui va en résulter pour le roi."
5 Oftentimes also fair speech of those, that are put in trust to manage their friends' affairs, hath caused many that are in authority to be partakers of innocent blood, and hath enwrapped them in remediless calamities:	5 Mais Assuérus prit la parole et dit à la reine Esther: "Qui est-ce? Où est l'homme qui a pensé agirainsi?"
6 Beguiling with the falsehood and deceit of their lewd disposition the innocency and goodness of princes.	6 Alors Esther: "Le persécuteur, l'ennemi, c'est Aman, c'est ce misérable!" A la vue du roi et de lareine, Aman fut glacé de terreur.
7 Now ye may see this, as we have declared, not so much by ancient histories, as ye may, if ye search what hath been wickedly done of late through the pestilent behaviour of them that are unworthily placed in authority.	7 Furieux, le roi se leva et quitta le banquet pour gagner le jardin du palais, cependant qu'Amandemeurait près de la reine Esther pour implorer la grâce de la vie, sentant trop bien que le roi avait décidé saperte.
8 And we must take care for the time to come, that our kingdom may be quiet and peaceable for all men,	8 Quand le roi revint du jardin dans la salle du banquet, il trouva Aman effondré sur le divan où Estherétait étendue. "Va-t-il après cela faire violence à la reine chez moi, dans le palais?" S'écria-t-il. A peine le motétait-il sorti de sa bouche qu'un voile fut jeté sur la face d'Aman.
9 Both by changing our purposes, and always judging things that are evident with more equal proceeding.	9 Harbona, un des eunuques, dit en présence du roi: "Justement il y a une potence de 50 coudéesqu'Aman a fait préparer pour ce Mardochée qui a parlé pour le bien du roi; elle est toute dressée dans sa maison"-- "Qu'on l'y pende", ordonna le roi.
10 For Aman, a Macedonian, the son of Amadatha, being indeed a stranger from the Persian blood, and far distant from our goodness, and as a stranger received of us,	10 Aman fut donc pendu à la potence dressée par lui pour Mardochée et la colère du roi s'apaisa.
