1 La parole de Yahvé me fut adressée en ces termes:	1 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:
2 Fils d'homme, fais connaître à Jérusalem ses abominations.	2 “Son of man, make known to Jerusalem her abominations.
3 Tu diras: Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahvé à Jérusalem. Par ton origine et par ta naissance, tu es dupays du Canaan. Ton père était amorite et ta mère hittite.	3 And you shall say: Thus says the Lord God to Jerusalem: Your root and your lineage is from the land of Canaan; your father was an Amorite, and your mother was a Cethite.
4 A ta naissance, au jour où tu vins au monde, on ne te coupa pas le cordon, on ne te lava pas dansl'eau pour te nettoyer, on ne te frotta pas de sel, on ne t'enveloppa pas de langes.	4 And when you were born, on the day of your nativity, your umbilical cord was not cut, and you were not washed with water for health, nor salted with salt, nor wrapped with cloths.
5 Nul n'a tourné vers toi un regard de pitié, pour te rendre un de ces devoirs par compassion pourtoi. Tu fus jetée en pleine campagne, par dégoût de toi, au jour de ta naissance.	5 No eye took pity on you, so as to do even one of these things to you, out of compassion for you. Instead, you were cast upon the face of the earth, in the abjection of your soul, on the day when you were born.
6 Je passai près de toi et je te vis, te débattant dans ton sang. Je te dis, quand tu étais dans ton sang:"Vis!"	6 But, passing by you, I saw that you were wallowing in your own blood. And I said to you, when you were in your blood: ‘Live.’ I tell you that I said to you, in your blood: ‘Live.’
7 et je te fis croître comme l'herbe des champs. Tu te développas, tu grandis et tu parvins à l'âgenubile. Tes seins s'affermirent, ta chevelure devint abondante; mais tu étais toute nue.	7 I multiplied you like the seedling of the field. And you were multiplied and became great, and you advanced and arrived at the ornament of a woman. Your breasts rose up, and your hair grew. And you were naked and full of shame.
8 Alors je passai près de toi et je te vis. C'était ton temps, le temps des amours. J'étendis sur toi lepan de mon manteau et je couvris ta nudité; je m'engageai par serment, je fis un pacte avec toi - oracle duSeigneur Yahvé - et tu fus à moi.	8 And I passed by you and saw you. And behold, your time was the time of lovers. And I spread my garment over you, and I covered your disgrace. And I swore to you, and I entered into a covenant with you, says the Lord God, and you became mine.
9 Je te baignai dans l'eau, je lavai le sang qui te couvrait, je t'oignis d'huile;	9 And I washed you with water, and I cleansed you of your blood. And I anointed you with oil.
10 je te donnai des vêtements brodés, des chaussures de cuir fin, un bandeau de lin et un manteaude soie.	10 And I covered you with embroidery, and I put violet shoes upon you, and I wrapped you in fine linen, and I clothed you with delicate garments.
11 Je te parai de bijoux, je mis des bracelets à tes poignets et un collier à ton cou.	11 I adorned you with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon your hands and a necklace around your neck.
12 Je mis un anneau à ton nez, des boucles à tes oreilles, et sur ta tête un splendide diadème.	12 And I put gold upon your face, and earrings in your ears, and a beautiful crown upon your head.
13 Tu étais parée d'or et d'argent, vêtue de lin, de soie et de broderies. La fleur de farine, le miel etl'huile étaient ta nourriture. Tu devins de plus en plus belle et tu parvins à la royauté.	13 And you were adorned with gold and silver, and you were clothed in fine linen, woven with many colors. You ate fine flour, and honey, and oil. And you became very beautiful. And you advanced to royal power.
14 Tu fus renommée parmi les nations pour ta beauté, car elle était parfaite grâce à la splendeurdont je t'avais revêtue, oracle du Seigneur Yahvé.	14 And your renown went forth among the Gentiles, because of your beauty. For you were perfected by my beauty, which I had placed upon you, says the Lord God.
15 Mais tu t'es infatuée de ta beauté, tu as profité de ta renommée pour te prostituer, tu as prodiguétes débauches à tout venant.	15 But, having confidence in your own beauty, you fornicated in your fame. And you presented your fornication to every passer-by, so as to become his.
16 Tu as pris de tes vêtements pour t'en faire des hauts lieux aux riches couleurs, et tu t'y esprostituée.	16 And taking from your garments, you made for yourself exalted things, having sewed together disparate pieces. And you fornicated upon them, in a way that has not been done before, nor will be in the future.
17 Tu as pris tes parures d'or et d'argent que je t'avais données et tu t'es fait des images d'hommespour servir à tes prostitutions.	17 And you took your beautiful items, made of my gold and my silver, which I gave to you, and you made for yourself images of men, and you fornicated with them.
18 Tu as pris tes vêtements brodés et tu les en as couvertes, et c'est mon huile et mon encens que tuas offerts devant elles.	18 And you used your multicolored vestments to cover these things. And you placed my oil and my incense before them.
19 C'est le pain que je t'avais donné, la fleur de farine, l'huile et le miel dont je te nourrissais que tuas offerts devant elles en parfum d'apaisement. Et il est arrivé - oracle du Seigneur Yahvé -	19 And my bread, which I gave to you, the fine flour, and the oil, and the honey, by which I nourished you, you placed in their sight as a sweet fragrance. And so it was done, says the Lord God.
20 que tu as pris tes fils et tes filles que tu m'avais enfantés, et que tu les leur as sacrifiés pourqu'elles s'en nourrissent. Etait-ce donc trop peu que ta prostitution?	20 And you took your sons and your daughters, whom you bore for me, and you immolated them to be devoured. Is your fornication a small matter?
21 Tu as égorgé mes fils et tu les as livrés pour les faire passer par le feu en leur honneur.	21 You have immolated my sons, and you have consecrated and delivered my sons to them.
22 Et dans toutes tes abominations et tes prostitutions, tu ne t'es pas souvenue des jours de tajeunesse, quand tu étais toute nue, te débattant dans ton sang.	22 And after all your abominations and fornications, you have not remembered the days of your youth, when you were naked and full of shame, wallowing in your own blood.
23 Et pour comble de méchanceté, - malheur, malheur à toi! oracle du Seigneur Yahvé -	23 And it happened that, after all your wickedness, (woe, woe to you, says the Lord God)
24 tu t'es bâti un tertre, tu t'es fait une hauteur sur toutes les places.	24 you built for yourself a brothel, and you made for yourself a place of prostitution in every street.
25 A l'entrée de chaque chemin, tu t'es bâti une hauteur pour y souiller ta beauté et livrer ton corps àtout venant; tu as multiplié tes prostitutions.	25 At the head of every way, you set up a banner of your prostitution. And you caused your beauty to become abominable. And you distributed your feet to every passer-by. And you multiplied your fornications.
26 Tu t'es prostituée chez les Egyptiens, tes voisins au corps puissant, tu as multiplié tesprostitutions pour m'irriter.	26 And you fornicated with the sons of Egypt, your neighbors, who have large bodies. And you multiplied your fornications, so as to provoke me.
27 Et voici que j'ai levé la main contre toi; j'ai rationné ta nourriture, je t'ai livrée à la merci de tesennemies, les filles des Philistins, rougissant de l'infamie de ta conduite.	27 Behold, I will extend my hand over you, and I will take away your justification. And I will give you to the souls of those who hate you, the daughters of the Philistines, who are ashamed of your wicked way.
28 Faute d'être rassasiée, tu t'es prostituée chez les Assyriens. Tu t'es prostituée sans pourtant terassasier.	28 You also fornicated with the sons of the Assyrians, for you were not yet done. And after you fornicated, even then, you were not satisfied.
29 Tu as multiplié tes prostitutions au pays des marchands, chez les Chaldéens, et cette fois nonplus, tu ne t'es pas rassasiée.	29 And you multiplied your fornications in the land of Canaan with the Chaldeans. And even then, you were not satisfied.
30 Comme ton coeur était faible - oracle du Seigneur Yahvé - en commettant toutes ces actionsdignes d'une véritable prostituée!	30 With what can I cleanse your heart, says the Lord God, since you do all these things, the works of a woman who is a shameless prostitute?
31 Lorsque tu te bâtissais un tertre à l'entrée de chaque chemin, que tu te faisais une hauteur surtoutes les places, en méprisant le salaire, tu n'étais pas comme la prostituée.	31 For you have built your brothel at the head of every way, and you have made your exalted place on every street. And you have not even been like a choosy prostitute, increasing her price,
32 La femme adultère, au lieu de son mari, accueille les étrangers.	32 but instead like a woman who is an adulteress, who prefers strangers to her own husband.
33 A toutes les prostituées, on donne un cadeau. Mais c'est toi qui donnais des cadeaux à tous tesamants et qui leur as offert des présents, pour que, de tous côtés, ils viennent à toi dans tes prostitutions.	33 Wages are given to all prostitutes. But you have given wages to all your lovers, and you have given gifts to them, so that they would enter to you from every side, in order to fornicate with you.
34 Pour toi, ce fut le contraire des autres femmes dans tes prostitutions: nul ne courait après toi,c'est toi qui payais et l'on ne te payait pas; tu faisais le contraire.	34 And it is done with you, in your fornications, contrary to the custom of women, and even after you, there will be no such fornication. For in as much as you have given payment, and not taken payment, what has been done in you is the contrary.”
35 Eh bien, prostituée, écoute la parole de Yahvé!	35 Because of this, O harlot, listen to the word of the Lord.
36 Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahvé. Pour avoir dilapidé ton argent, découvert ta nudité au cours de tesprostitutions avec tes amants et avec tes ordures abominables, pour le sang de tes fils que tu leur a donnés,	36 Thus says the Lord God: “Because your money has been poured out, and your disgrace has been uncovered, in your fornications with your lovers and with the idols of your abominations, in the blood of your sons, whom you gave to them:
37 pour cela, je vais rassembler tous les amants à qui tu as plu, tous ceux que tu as aimés et tousceux que tu as haïs, je vais les rassembler d'alentour contre toi, et je vais découvrir ta nudité devant eux, pourqu'ils voient toute ta nudité.	37 Behold, I will gather all your lovers, with whom you have united, and all those whom you have loved, together with all those whom you have hated. And I will gather them together against you on every side. And I will uncover your disgrace before them, and they will see all your indecency.
38 Je vais t'infliger le châtiment des femmes adultères et sanguinaires: je te livrerai à la fureur et àla jalousie,	38 And I will judge you with the judgment of adulteresses and of those who shed blood. And I will give you over to blood, in fury and in zeal.
39 je te livrerai entre leurs mains; ils nivelleront ton tertre et démoliront tes hauteurs, ilst'arracheront tes vêtements et te prendront tes parures, ils te laisseront toute nue.	39 And I will deliver you into their hands. And they will destroy your brothel and demolish your place of prostitution. And they will strip you of your vestments. And they will take away the ornaments of your beauty. And they will leave you behind, naked and full of disgrace.
40 Puis ils exciteront la foule contre toi, ils te lapideront et te perceront à coup d'épée,	40 And they will lead over you a multitude. And they will stone you with stones, and massacre you with their swords.
41 ils mettront le feu à tes maisons et feront justice de toi, sous les yeux d'une multitude de femmes;je mettrai fin à tes prostitutions et tu ne donneras plus de salaire.	41 And they will burn up your houses with fire, and they will carry out judgments against you in the sight of many women. And you will cease from fornication, and no longer give payment.
42 J'assouvirai ma fureur contre toi, puis ma jalousie se retirera de toi, je m'apaiserai et ne memettrai plus en colère.	42 And my indignation will be quieted in you. And my zeal will be taken from you. And I will rest, and no longer be angry.
43 Puisque tu ne t'es pas souvenue des jours de ta jeunesse et qu'en tout cela tu m'as provoqué, voiciqu'à mon tour je vais faire retomber ta conduite sur ta tête, oracle du Seigneur Yahvé. N'as-tu pas commisl'infamie avec toutes tes pratiques abominables?	43 For you have not remembered the days of your youth, and you have provoked me in all these things. Because of this, I also have delivered all your ways upon your head, says the Lord God, but I have not acted in accord with your wickedness in all your abominations.
44 Voici que tous les faiseurs de proverbes en diront un à ton sujet: "Telle mère, telle fille."	44 Behold, all who speak a common proverb will take this up against you, saying: ‘Like the mother, so also is her daughter.’
45 Tu es bien la fille de ta mère qui détestait son mari et ses enfants; tu es bien la soeur de tessoeurs qui ont détesté leur mari et leurs enfants. Votre mère était hittite et votre père amorite.	45 You are your mother’s daughter, for she cast away her husband and her children. And you are the sister of your sisters, for they cast away their husbands and their children. Your mother was a Cethite, and your father was an Amorite.
46 Ta soeur aînée, c'est Samarie, qui habite à ta gauche avec ses filles. Ta soeur cadette, qui habite àta droite, c'est Sodome, avec ses filles.	46 And your older sister is Samaria, she and her daughters are those who live to your left. But your younger sister, who lives to your right, is Sodom and her daughters.
47 Tu n'as pas manqué d'imiter leur conduite ni de commettre leurs abominations. Tu t'es montréeplus corrompue qu'elles dans toute ta conduite.	47 But neither have you walked in their ways. For you have done only a little less compared to their wickedness. You have acted almost more wickedly, in all your ways, than they have acted.
48 Par ma vie, oracle du Seigneur Yahvé, Sodome, ta soeur, et ses filles n'ont pas agi comme vousavez agi, toi et tes filles.	48 As I live, says the Lord God, your sister Sodom herself, and her daughters, have not done as you and your daughters have done.
49 Voici quelle fut la faute de Sodome ta soeur: orgueil, voracité, insouciance tranquille, tellesfurent ses fautes et celles de ses filles; elles n'ont pas secouru le pauvre et le malheureux,	49 Behold, this was the iniquity of Sodom, your sister: arrogance, indulgence in bread and abundance, and the idleness of her and her daughters; and they did not reach out their hand to the needy and the poor.
50 elles se sont enorgueillies et ont commis l'abomination devant moi, aussi les ai-je fait disparaître,comme tu l'as vu.	50 And they were exalted, and they committed abominations before me. And so I took them away, just as you have seen.
51 Quant à Samarie, elle n'a pas commis la moitié de tes péchés. Tu as multiplié bien plus qu'elletes abominations. En commettant autant d'abominations, tu as justifié tes soeurs.	51 But Samaria has not committed even half of your sins. For you have exceeded them in your wickedness, and you have justified your sisters by all your abominations, which you have wrought.
52 Mais toi, porte le déshonneur dont tu as innocenté tes soeurs: à cause des péchés par lesquels tut'es rendue bien plus odieuse qu'elles, elles sont plus justes que toi. Toi donc, sois dans la honte et porte tondéshonneur, tout en justifiant tes soeurs.	52 Therefore, you also bear your shame, for you have exceeded your sisters with your sins, acting more wickedly than they did. So they have been justified above you. By this also, you are confounded, and you bear your disgrace, for you have justified your sisters.
53 Je les rétablirai. Je rétablirai Sodome et ses filles, je rétablirai Samarie et ses filles, puis je terétablirai au milieu d'elles,	53 But I will convert and restore them, by converting Sodom with her daughters, and by converting Samaria and her daughters. And I will convert your return in their midst.
54 afin que tu portes ton déshonneur et que tu rougisses de tout ce que tu as fait, pour leurconsolation.	54 So may you bear your disgrace and be confounded over all that you have done, consoling them.
55 Tes soeurs, Sodome et ses filles, seront rétablies en leur état ancien; Samarie et ses filles serontrétablies en leur état ancien. Toi et tes filles, vous serez rétablies en votre état ancien.	55 And your sister Sodom and her daughters will return to their ancient state. And Samaria and her daughters will return to their ancient state. And you and your daughters will be returned to your ancient state.
56 De Sodome, ta soeur, n'as-tu pas fait des gorges chaudes, au jour de ton orgueil,	56 Your sister Sodom was not heard from your mouth, then, in the day of your pride,
57 avant que ne fût découverte ta nudité? Comme elle, tu es maintenant l'objet de la raillerie desfilles d'Edom et de toutes celles d'alentour, des filles des Philistins, qui t'accablent de leur mépris, tout autour detoi.	57 before your malice was revealed, as it is at this time, with the reproach of the daughters of Syria and of all the daughters of Palestine, who surround you, who encircle you on every side.
58 Ton infamie et tes abominations, c'est toi qui t'en es chargée, oracle de Yahvé.	58 You have borne your wickedness and your disgrace, says the Lord God.”
59 Car ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahvé. J'agirai envers toi comme tu as agi, toi qui as méprisé leserment jusqu'à violer une alliance.	59 For thus says the Lord God: “I will act toward you, just as you have despised the oath, so that you would make void the covenant.
60 Mais moi, je me souviendrai de mon alliance avec toi au temps de ta jeunesse et j'établirai en tafaveur une alliance éternelle.	60 And I will remember my covenant with you in the days of your youth. And I will raise up for you an everlasting covenant.
61 Et toi, tu te souviendras de ta conduite et tu en rougiras, quand tu accueilleras tes soeurs, lesaînées avec les cadettes, et que je te les donnerai pour filles, sans que j'y sois tenu par mon alliance avec toi.	61 And you shall remember your ways and be confounded, when you will have received your sisters, your elder with your younger. And I will give them to you as daughters, but not by your covenant.
62 Car c'est moi qui rétablirai mon alliance avec toi, et tu sauras que je suis Yahvé,	62 And I will raise up my covenant with you. And you shall know that I am the Lord.
63 afin que tu te souviennes et que tu sois saisie de honte et que, dans ta confusion, tu sois réduiteau silence, quand je te pardonnerai tout ce que tu as fait, oracle du Seigneur Yahvé.	63 So may you remember and be confounded. And it will no longer be for you to open your mouth, because of your shame, when I will have been pacified toward you over all that you have done, says the Lord God.”
