1 And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter and James and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves, and was transfigured before them.	1 Jésus leur dit encore: "En vérité, je vous le dis, certains qui sont ici ne feront pas l’expérience de la mort avant d’avoir vu le Royaume de Dieu venir avec puissance.”
2 And his garments became shining and exceeding white as snow, so as no fuller upon earth can make white.	2 Six jours après, Jésus prit avec lui Pierre, Jacques et Jean, et les emmena à l’écart, seuls, sur une haute montagne. Là, devant eux, il fut transfiguré.
3 And there appeared to them Elias with Moses; and they were talking with Jesus.	3 Ses vêtements devinrent éclatants de lumière, d’une blancheur telle qu’aucun blanchisseur sur la terre ne peut blanchir de la sorte.
4 And Peter answering, said to Jesus: Rabbi, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.	4 Alors Élie leur apparut, avec Moïse: les deux étaient en conversation avec Jésus.
5 For he knew not what he said: for they were struck with fear.	5 Pierre prit la parole pour dire à Jésus: "Rabbi, cela tombe bien que nous soyons ici; nous allons dresser trois tentes: une pour toi, une pour Moïse et une pour Élie.”
6 And there was a cloud overshadowing them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying: This is my most beloved son; hear ye him.	6 En réalité, il ne savait plus que dire, car ils étaient effrayés.
7 And immediately looking about, they saw no man any more, but Jesus only with them.	7 Une nuée survint alors qui les prit sous son ombre, et de la nuée se fit entendre une voix: "Celui-ci est mon Fils, le Bien-Aimé, écoutez-le!”
8 And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them not to tell any man what things they had seen, till the Son of man shall be risen again from the dead.	8 Et soudain, regardant autour d’eux, ils ne virent plus personne: seul Jésus était avec eux.
9 And they kept the word to themselves; questioning together what that should mean, when he shall be risen from the dead.	9 Comme ils descendaient de la montagne, Jésus leur ordonna de ne raconter à personne ce qu’ils avaient vu, jusqu’à ce que le Fils de l’Homme soit ressuscité d’entre les morts.
10 And they asked him, saying: Why then do the Pharisees and scribes say that Elias must come first?	10 Ils respectèrent cet ordre, mais entre eux ils se demandaient ce que c’était que ressusciter d’entre les morts.
11 Who answering, said to them: Elias, when he shall come first, shall restore all things; and as it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things and be despised.	11 C’est alors qu’ils lui posèrent la question: "Pourquoi les maîtres de la Loi disent-ils que d’abord viendra Élie?”
12 But I say to you, that Elias also is come, (and they have done to him whatsoever they would,) as it is written of him.	12 Jésus leur répondit: "Bien sûr, d’abord vient Élie qui remet tout en ordre… mais comment est-il écrit du Fils de l’Homme qu’il doit souffrir beaucoup et être méprisé?
13 And coming to his disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and the scribes disputing with them.	13 Élie est bien revenu, et ils l’ont traité comme ils voulaient, selon ce qui est écrit de lui.”
14 And presently all the people seeing Jesus, were astonished and struck with fear; and running to him, they saluted him.	14 Lorsqu’ils rejoignirent les disciples, ils virent tout un attroupement autour d’eux, et des maîtres de la Loi qui discutaient avec eux.
15 And he asked them: What do you question about among you?	15 Ce fut une surprise pour tout ce monde quand ils virent Jésus; ils coururent au-devant de lui pour le saluer.
16 And one of the multitude, answering, said: Master, I have brought my son to thee, having a dumb spirit.	16 Alors Jésus demande aux gens: "Qu’avez-vous à discuter avec eux?”
17 Who, wheresoever he taketh him, dasheth him, and he foameth, and gnasheth with the teeth, and pineth away; and I spoke to thy disciples to cast him out, and they could not.	17 De la foule un homme lui répond: "Maître, je t’ai amené mon fils qui est possédé d’un esprit muet.
18 Who answering them, said: O incredulous generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me.	18 Quand il s’empare de mon fils, il le déchire: l’enfant bave, grince des dents et devient tout raide. J’ai demandé à tes disciples de le faire sortir, mais ils n’ont pas été capables.”
19 And they brought him. And when he had seen him, immediately the spirit troubled him; and being thrown down upon the ground, he rolled about foaming.	19 Jésus répond: "Gens sans foi, jusqu’à quand serai-je avec vous! Jusqu’à quand devrai-je vous supporter? Amenez-le moi.”
20 And he asked his father: How long time is it since this hath happened unto him? But he said: From his infancy:	20 Ils le lui amènent. À la vue de Jésus, l’esprit secoue l’enfant violemment, il tombe à terre et se roule en bavant.
21 And oftentimes hath he cast him into the fire and into waters to destroy him. But if thou canst do any thing, help us, having compassion on us.	21 Jésus interroge son père: "Depuis combien de temps cela lui arrive-t-il? Le père répond: "Depuis son enfance.
22 And Jesus saith to him: If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.	22 Souvent même il l’a jeté dans le feu et dans l’eau: il pouvait le tuer. Aie pitié de nous, et si tu peux, viens à notre secours!”
23 And immediately the father of the boy crying out, with tears said: I do believe, Lord: help my unbelief.	23 Jésus lui dit: "Si tu peux… Mais tout est possible pour celui qui croit!”
24 And when Jesus saw the multitude running together, he threatened the unclean spirit, saying to him: Deaf and dumb spirit, I command thee, go out of him; and enter not any more into him.	24 Aussitôt le père de l’enfant s’écrie: "Je crois, mais viens en aide à mon manque de foi!”
25 And crying out, and greatly tearing him, he went out of him, and he became as dead, so that many said: He is dead.	25 Quand Jésus voit que les gens arrivent plus en nombre, il menace l’esprit impur: "Esprit muet et sourd, je te l’ordonne: sors de cet enfant et ne reviens plus jamais!”
26 But Jesus taking him by the hand, lifted him up; and he arose.	26 À ce moment l’esprit pousse un cri, secoue violemment l’enfant et sort. L’enfant était resté comme mort, et plusieurs disaient: "Il est mort!”
27 And when he was come into the house, his disciples secretly asked him: Why could not we cast him out?	27 Mais Jésus le prend par la main et le réveille: l’enfant se remet sur pied.
28 And he said to them: This kind can go out by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.	28 Jésus revient à la maison; quand ils sont seuls, ses disciples l’interrogent: "Pourquoi n’avons-nous pas pu le faire sortir?”
29 And departing from thence, they passed through Galilee, and he would not that any man should know it.	29 Jésus leur répond: "Il n’y a que la prière pour faire sortir cette espèce-là.”
30 And he taught his disciple, and said to them: The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise again the third day.	30 Ils quittèrent cet endroit, et ils allaient de place en place à travers la Galilée. Jésus ne voulait pas qu’on le sache,
31 But they understood not the word, and they were afraid to ask him.	31 car il était occupé à instruire ses disciples. Alors il leur dit: "Le Fils de l’Homme sera livré aux mains des hommes. Ils le tueront, et trois jours après sa mort il ressuscitera.”
32 And they came to Capharnaum. And when they were in the house, he asked them: What did you treat of in the way?	32 Eux ne comprenaient pas cet avertissement, et ils avaient peur de lui en demander davantage.
33 But they held their peace, for in the way they had disputed among themselves, which of them should be the greatest.	33 Ils arrivèrent à Capharnaüm. Une fois à la maison, Jésus les interrogea: "De quoi discutiez-vous en chemin?”
34 And sitting down, he called the twelve, and saith to them: If any man desire to be first, he shall be the last of all, and the minister of all.	34 Ils se turent, car en chemin ils s’étaient disputés à propos de qui était le plus grand.
35 And taking a child, he set him in the midst of them. Whom when he had embraced, he saith to them:	35 Alors Jésus s’assoit, il appelle les Douze et leur dit: "Si quelqu’un veut être le premier, qu’il soit le dernier de tous, qu’il soit le serviteur de tous.”
36 Whosoever shall receive one such child as this in my name, receiveth me. And whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.	36 Puis il place au milieu d’eux un enfant, il l’embrasse et leur dit:
37 John answered him, saying: Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, who followeth not us, and we forbade him.	37 "Si quelqu’un reçoit en mon nom l’un de ces enfants, c’est moi qu’il reçoit; et celui qui me reçoit, ce n’est pas moi qu’il reçoit, mais celui qui m’a envoyé.”
38 But Jesus said: Do not forbid him. For there is no man that doth a miracle in my name, and can soon speak ill of me.	38 Jean lui dit: "Maître, nous avons vu quelqu’un qui se servait de ton nom pour chasser les démons, et nous l’avons empêché car il n’est pas disciple avec nous.”
39 For he that is not against you, is for you.	39 Jésus lui répond: "Ne l’empêchez pas! Car personne ne peut faire un miracle en mon nom et aussitôt après parler mal de moi.
40 For whosoever shall give you to drink a cup of water in my name, because you belong to Christ: amen I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.	40 “Celui qui n’est pas contre nous est pour nous.
41 And whosoever shall scandalize one of these little ones that believe in me; it were better for him that a millstone were hanged around his neck, and he were cast into the sea.	41 Celui qui vous donne un verre d’eau parce que vous êtes disciples du Christ, je vous dis qu’il ne perdra pas sa récompense.”
42 And if thy hand scandalize thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life, maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into unquenchable fire:	42 “Si quelqu’un devait faire chuter l’un de ces petits qui croient, mieux vaudrait pour lui qu’on lui attache au cou une meule de moulin et qu’on le jette dans la mer.
43 Where there worm dieth not, and the fire is not extinguished.	43 “Si ta main doit te faire chuter, coupe-la! Mieux vaut pour toi entrer dans la vie avec une seule main, que t’en aller avec tes deux mains à la géhenne,
44 And if thy foot scandalize thee, cut it off. It is better for thee to enter lame into life everlasting, than having two feet, to be cast into the hell of unquenchable fire:	44 au feu qui ne s’éteint pas.
45 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not extinguished.	45 “Et si ton pied doit te faire chuter, coupe-le! Mieux vaut pour toi entrer dans la vie avec un seul pied, qu’être jeté avec tes deux pieds dans la géhenne.
46 And if thy eye scandalize thee, pluck it out. It is better for thee with one eye to enter into the kingdom of God, than having two eyes to be cast into the hell of fire:	46 NO TEXT
47 Where the worm dieth not, and the fire is not extinguished.	47 “Si ton œil doit te faire chuter, jette-le loin de toi! Mieux vaut pour toi entrer dans le Royaume de Dieu avec un seul œil que d’en avoir deux et d’être jeté dans la géhenne,
48 For every one shall be salted with fire: and every victim shall be salted with salt.	48 où le ver ne meurt pas et où le feu ne s’éteint pas.
49 Salt is good. But if the salt became unsavory; wherewith will you season it? Have salt in you, and have peace among you.	49 Car ce feu fera l’office du sel.
	50 “Le sel est bon; mais si le sel n’est plus salé, comment lui redonnerez-vous du mordant? Ayez du sel en vous-mêmes et vivez en paix les uns avec les autres.”
