Isaiah 48

1 Hear ye these things, O house of Jacob, you that are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Juda, you who swear by the name of the Lord, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in justice.	1 Escucha esto, casa de Jacob, los que lleváis el nombre de Israel, los que habéis salido de las aguas de Judá. Los que juráis por el nombre de Yahveh, los que invocáis al Dios de Israel, mas no según verdad y justicia.
2 For they are called of the holy city, and are established upon the God of Israel: the Lord of hosts is his name.	2 Porque lleváis el nombre de la ciudad santa y os apoyáis en el Dios de Israel, cuyo nombre es Yahveh Sebaot.
3 The former things of old I have declared, and they went forth out of my mouth, and I have made them to be heard: I did them suddenly and they came to pass.	3 Yo anuncié desde hace tiempo las cosas pasadas, salieron de mi boca y las di a conocer; de pronto, las hice y se cumplieron.
4 For I knew that thou art stubborn, and thy neck is as an iron sinew, and thy forehead as brass.	4 Yo sabía que tú eres obstinado, que es tu cerviz una barra de hierro y tu frente de bronce.
5 I foretold thee of old, before they came to pass I told thee, lest thou shouldst say: My idols have done these things, and my graven and molten things have commanded them.	5 Por eso te anuncié las cosas hace tiempo y antes que ocurrieran te las di a conocer, no sea que dijeras: «Las hizo mi ídolo, mi estatua, mi imagen fundida lo ordenó».
6 See now all the things which thou hast heard: but have you declared them? I have shewn thee new things from that time, and things are kept which thou knowest not:	6 Tú has oído todo esto, ¿no vas a admitirlo? Ahora te hago saber cosas nuevas, secretas, no sabidas,
7 They are created now, and not of old: and before the day, when thou heardest them not, lest thou shouldst say: Behold I knew them.	7 que han sido creadas ahora, no hace tiempo, de las que hasta ahora nada oíste, para que no puedas decir: «Ya lo sabía».
8 Thou hast neither heard, nor known, neither was thy ear opened of old. For I know that transgressing thou wilt transgress, and I have called thee a transgressor from the womb.	8 Ni las oíste ni las hiciste ni de antemano te fue abierto el oído, pues sé muy bien que tú eres pérfido y se te llama rebelde desde el seno materno.
9 For my name's sake I will remove my wrath far off: and for my praise I will bridle thee, lest thou shouldst perish.	9 Por amor de mi nombre retardé mi cólera, a causa de mi alabanza me contuve para no arrancarte.
10 Behold I have refined thee, but not as silver, I have chosen thee in the furnace of poverty.	10 Mira que te he apurado, y no había en ti plata, te he probado en el crisol de la desgracia.
11 For my own sake, for my own sake will I do it, that I may not be blasphemed: and I will not give my glory to another.	11 Por mí, por mí, lo hago, pues ¿cómo mi nombre sería profanado? No cederé a otro mi gloria.
12 Hearken to me, O Jacob, and thou Israel whom I call: I am he, I am the first, and I am the last.	12 Escúchame, Jacob, Israel, a quien llamé: Yo soy, yo soy el primero y también soy el último.
13 My hand also hath founded the earth, and my right hand hath measured the heavens: I shall call them, and they shall stand together.	13 Sí, es mi mano la que fundamentó la tierra y mi diestra la que extendió los cielos. Yo los llamo y todos se presentan.
14 Assemble yourselves together, all you, and hear: who among them hath declared these things? the Lord hath loved him, he will do his pleasure in Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans.	14 Reuníos todos y escuchad: ¿Quién de entre ellos anunció estas cosas? «Mi amigo cumplirá mi deseo contra Babilonia y la raza de los caldeos».
15 I, even I have spoken and called him: I have brought him, and his way is made prosperous.	15 Yo mismo le he hablado, le he llamado, le he hecho que venga y triunfe en sus empresas.
16 Come ye near unto me, and hear this: I have not spoken in secret from the beginning: from the time before it was done, I was there, and now the Lord God hath sent me, and his spirit.	16 Acercaos a mí y escuchad esto: Desde el principio no he hablado en oculto, desde que sucedió estoy yo allí. Y ahora el Señor Yahveh me envía con su espíritu.
17 Thus saith the Lord thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I am the Lord thy God that teach thee profitable things, that govern thee in the way that thou walkest.	17 Así dice Yahveh, tu redentor, el Santo de Israel. Yo, Yahveh, tu Dios, te instruyo en lo que es provechoso y te marco el camino por donde debes ir.
18 O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments: thy peace had been as a river, and thy justice as the waves of the sea,	18 ¡Si hubieras atendido a mis mandatos, tu dicha habría sido como un río y tu victoria como las olas del mar!
19 And thy seed had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof: his name should not have perished, nor have been destroyed from before my face.	19 ¡Tu raza sería como la arena los salidos de ti como sus granos! ¡Nunca habría sido arrancado ni borrado de mi presencia su nombre!
20 Come forth out of Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans, declare it with the voice of joy: make this to be heard, and speak it out even to the ends of the earth. Say: The Lord hath redeemed his servant Jacob.	20 ¡Salid de Babilonia! ¡Huid de los caldeos! ¡Anunciad con voz de júbilo, hacedlo saber, proclamad hasta el extremo de la tierra, decid: Yahveh ha rescatado a su siervo Jacob!
21 They thirsted not in the desert, when he led them out: he brought forth water out of the rock for them, and he clove the rock, and the waters gushed out.	21 No padecieron sed en los sequedales a donde los llevó; hizo brotar para ellos agua de la roca. Rompió la roca y corrieron las aguas.
22 There is no peace to the wicked, saith the Lord.	22 No hay paz para los malvados, dice Yahveh.
