1 Why have the Gentiles raged, and the people devised vain things?	1 Warum toben die Völker, warum machen die Nationen vergebliche Pläne?
2 The kings of the earth stood up, and the princes met together, against the Lord and against his Christ.	2 Die Könige der Erde stehen auf, die Großen haben sich verbündet gegen den Herrn und seinen Gesalbten.
3 Let us break their bonds asunder: and let us cast away their yoke from us.	3 «Lasst uns ihre Fesseln zerreißen und von uns werfen ihre Stricke!»
4 He that dwelleth in heaven shall laugh at them: and the Lord shall deride them.	4 Doch er, der im Himmel thront, lacht, der Herr verspottet sie.
5 Then shall he speak to them in his anger, and trouble them in his rage.	5 Dann aber spricht er zu ihnen im Zorn, in seinem Grimm wird er sie erschrecken:
6 But I am appointed king by him over Sion his holy mountain, preaching his commandment.	6 «Ich selber habe meinen König eingesetzt auf Zion, meinem heiligen Berg.»
7 The Lord hath said to me: Thou art my son, this day have I begotten thee.	7 Den Beschluss des Herrn will ich kundtun. Er sprach zu mir: «Mein Sohn bist du. Heute habe ich dich gezeugt.
8 Ask of me, and I will give thee the Gentiles for thy inheritance, and the utmost parts of the earth for thy possession.	8 Fordre von mir und ich gebe dir die Völker zum Erbe, die Enden der Erde zum Eigentum.
9 Thou shalt rule them with a rod of iron, and shalt break them in pieces like a potter's vessel.	9 Du wirst sie zerschlagen mit eiserner Keule, wie Krüge aus Ton wirst du sie zertrümmern.»
10 And now, O ye kings, understand: receive instruction, you that judge the earth.	10 Nun denn, ihr Könige, kommt zur Einsicht, lasst euch warnen, ihr Gebieter der Erde!
11 Serve ye the Lord with fear: and rejoice unto him with trembling.	11 Dient dem Herrn in Furcht und küsst ihm mit Beben die Füße,
12 Embrace discipline, lest at any time the Lord be angry, and you perish from the just way.	12 damit er nicht zürnt und euer Weg nicht in den Abgrund führt. Denn wenig nur und sein Zorn ist entbrannt. Wohl allen, die ihm vertrauen!
13 When his wrath shall be kindled in a short time, blessed are all they that trust in him.
