1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:	1 E il Signore parlò a Mosè, dicendo:
2 Sanctify unto me every firstborn that openeth the womb among the children of Israel, as well of men as of beasts: for they are all mine.	2 « Consacrami ogni primogenito che apre il seno della madre tra i figli d'Israele, tanto degli uomini che degli animali, perchè mie sono tutte le cose».
3 And Moses said to the people: Remember this day in which you came forth out of Egypt, and out of the house of bondage, for with a strong hand hath the Lord brought you forth out of this place: that you eat no leavened bread.	3 E Mosè disse al popolo: « Ricordatevi di questo giorno nel quale siete usciti dall'Egitto e dalla casa di schiavitù. Avendovi il Signore tratti fuori da questo luogo con mano potente, voi non mangerete pane fermentato.
4 This day you go forth in the month of new corn.	4 Voi uscite oggi, nel mese delle nuove spighe.
5 And when the Lord shall have brought thee into the land of the Chanaanite, and the Hethite, and the Amorrhite, and the Hevite, and the Jebusite, which he swore to thy fathers that he would give thee, a land that floweth with milk and honey, thou shalt celebrate this manner of sacred rites in this month.	5 Or quando il Signore ti avrà introdotto nella terra del Cananeo, dell'Eteo, dell'Amorreo, dell'Eveo e del Gebuseo, terra che egli giurò ai tuoi padri di darti, e che stilla latte e miele, tu celebrerai questo rito sacro in questo mese:
6 Seven days shalt thou eat unleavened bread: and on the seventh day shall be the solemnity of the Lord.	6 mangerai azzimi per sette giorni, ed il settimo giorno sarà la festa solenne del Signore.
7 Unleavened bread shall you eat seven days: there shall not be seen any thing leavened with thee, nor in all thy coasts.	7 E nei sette giorni in cui dovrete mangiare azzimi, non si veda nulla di lievitato presso di te e dentro i tuoi confini.
8 And thou shalt tell thy son in that day, saying: This is what the Lord did to me when I came forth out of Egypt.	8 E in quel giorno istruirai il tuo figlio, dicendo: Ecco quanto fece per me il Signore quando uscii dall'Egitto.
9 And it shall be as a sign in thy hand, and as a memorial before thy eyes: and that the law of the Lord be always in thy mouth, for with a strong hand the Lord hath brought thee out of the land of Egypt.	9 E ciò sarà come un segno nella tua mano, e come un monumento davanti ai tuoi occhi; affinchè la legge del Signore sia sempre nella tua bocca, dopo che il Signore ti ha tratto dall'Egitto con mano potente.
10 Thou shalt keep this observance at the set time from days to days.	10 Osserva adunque questa istituzione religiosa d'anno in anno, nel tempo stabilito.
11 And when the Lord shall have brought thee into the land of the Chanaanite, as he swore to thee and thy fathers, and shall give it thee:	11 E quando il Signore ti avrà intro dotto nella terra del Cananeo, come giurò a te e ai tuoi padri, e te l'avrà data,
12 Thou shalt set apart all that openeth the womb for the Lord, and all that is first brought forth of thy cattle: whatsoever thou shalt have of the male sex, thou shalt consecrate to the Lord.	12 consacrerai al Signore tutto ciò che apre il seno ed ogni primo nato del tuo bestiame: tutti i maschi che avrai li con sacrerai al Signore,
13 The firstborn of an ass thou shalt change for a sheep: and if thou do not redeem it, thou shalt kill it. And every firstborn of men thou shalt redeem with a price.	13 Riscatterai il primo parto dell'asino con una pecora: se non lo vuoi riscattare, uccidilo. Ogni primogenito dei tuoi figli dovrai riscattarlo con danaro.
14 And when thy son shall ask thee to morrow, saying: What is this? thou shalt answer him: With a strong hand did the Lord bring us forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.	14 E quando, in avvenire, il tuo figliolo ti domanderà: E questo che significa? gli risponderai: Il Signore ci trasse con braccio forte dalla terra d'Egitto, dalla casa di schiavitù.
15 For when Pharao was hardened, and would not let us go, the Lord slew every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of man to the firstborn of beasts: therefore I sacrifice to the Lord all that openeth the womb of the male sex, and all the firstborn of my sons I redeem.	15 Siccome allora, essendosi Faraone ostinato, e non volendo lasciarci partire, il Signore uccise tutti i primogeniti nella terra d'Egitto, dal primogenito dell'uomo fino a quello dei giumenti, per questo io sacrifico al Signore ogni maschio che apre il seno, e riscatto tutti i primogeniti dei miei figli.
16 And it shall be as a sign in thy hand, and as a thing hung between thy eyes, for a remembrance: because the Lord hath brought us forth out of Egypt by a strong hand.	16 Ciò sarà dunque come un segno nella tua mano, come qualche cosa che per ricordo pende in mezzo agli occhi, perchè il Signore ci trasse dall'Egitto con braccio potente ».
17 And when Pharao had sent out the people, the Lord led them not by the way of the land of the Philistines which is near: thinking lest perhaps they would repent, if they should see wars arise against them, and would return into Egypt.	17 Or dopo che Faraone ebbe lasciato partire il popolo, Dio non lo condusse per la via del paese dei Filistei, che era la più breve, ma pensando che, se avesse incontrato delle guerre, forse, pentito, sarebbe tornato in Egitto,
18 But he led them about by the way of the desert, which is by the Red Sea: and the children of Israel went up armed out of the land of Egypt.	18 lo fece girare per la via del deserto, che è lungo il Mar Rosso. E i figli d'Israele salirono armati dall'Egitto.
19 And Moses took Joseph's bones with him: because he had adjured the children of Israel, saying: God shall visit you, carry out my bones from hence with you.	19 E Mosè prese con sè anche le ossa di Giuseppe, il quale aveva fatto giurare i figli d'Israele dicendo: « Dio vi visiterà: allora trasportate con voi le mie ossa ».
20 And marching from Socoth they encamped in Etham in the utmost coasts of the wilderness.	20 Poi, lasciato Socot, gl'israeliti si accamparono in Etam, al confine del deserto.
21 And the Lord went before them to shew the way by day in a pillar of a cloud, and by night in a pillar of fire: that he might be the guide of their journey at both times.	21 E il Signore li precedeva per mostrar loro la strada, in una colonna di nube il giorno, e di fuoco la notte, per essere di giorno e di notte loro guida.
22 There never failed the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, before the people.	22 Nè mancò mai davanti al popolo la colonna di nuvola, il giorno, la colonna di fuoco, la notte.
