DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Salmo di Davide, dato al capo de’ Musici IO ho lungamente e pazientemente aspettato il Signore; Ed egli si è inchinato a me, ed ha ascoltato il mio grido;	1 [For the choirmaster Of David Psalm] I waited, I waited for Yahweh, then he stooped to me and heardmy cry for help.
2 E mi ha tratto fuor di una fossa ruinosa, Di un fango pantanoso; Ed ha rizzati i miei piedi sopra una roccia, Ed ha fermati i miei passi.	2 He pul ed me up from the seething chasm, from the mud of the mire. He set my feet on rock, andmade my footsteps firm.
3 Ed ha messo nella mia bocca un nuovo cantico Per lode dell’Iddio nostro; Molti vedranno questo, e temeranno, E si confideranno nel Signore.	3 He put a fresh song in my mouth, praise of our God. Many wil be awestruck at the sight, and will puttheir trust in Yahweh.
4 Beato l’uomo che ha posto il Signore per sua confidanza; E non riguarda a’ possenti superbi, Nè a quelli che si rivolgono dietro a menzogna.	4 How blessed are those who put their trust in Yahweh, who have not sided with rebels and those whohave gone astray in falsehood.
5 Signore Iddio mio, tu fai grandi le tue maraviglie; E i tuoi pensieri inverso noi Non ponno per alcuna maniera esserti spiegati per ordine; Se io imprendo di narrarli e di parlarne, Son tanti che io non posso annoverarli	5 How much you have done, Yahweh, my God -- your wonders, your plans for us -- you have no equal. Iwil proclaim and speak of them; they are beyond number.
6 Tu non prendi piacere in sacrificio, nè in offerta; Tu mi hai forate le orecchie; Tu non hai chiesto, olocausto, nè sacrificio per lo peccato.	6 You wanted no sacrifice or cereal offering, but you gave me an open ear, you did not ask for burntoffering or sacrifice for sin;
7 Allora io ho detto: Eccomi venuto; Egli è scritto di me nel volume del Libro.	7 then I said, 'Here I am, I am coming.' In the scrol of the book it is written of me,
8 Dio mio, io prendo piacere in far la tua volontà; E la tua Legge è nel mezzo delle mie interiora.	8 my delight is to do your will; your law, my God, is deep in my heart.
9 Io ho predicata la tua giustizia in gran raunanza; Ecco io non ho rattenute le mie labbra; Tu lo sai, Signore.	9 I proclaimed the saving justice of Yahweh in the great assembly. See, I will not hold my tongue, as youwel know.
10 Io non ho nascosta la tua giustizia dentro al mio cuore; Io ho narrata la tua verità e la tua salute; Io non ho celata la tua benignità, nè la tua verità, In gran raunanza	10 I have not kept your saving justice locked in the depths of my heart, but have spoken of yourconstancy and saving help. I have made no secret of your faithful and steadfast love, in the great assembly.
11 Tu, Signore, non rattenere inverso me le tue compassioni; Guardinmi del continuo la tua benignità e la tua verità.	11 You, Yahweh, have not withheld your tenderness from me; your faithful and steadfast love will alwaysguard me.
12 Perciocchè mali innumerabili mi hanno circondato; Le mie iniquità mi hanno giunto, E pur non le posso vedere; Sono in maggior numero che i capelli del mio capo, Onde il cuor mi vien meno.	12 For troubles surround me, until they are beyond number; my sins have overtaken me; I cannot seemy way. They outnumber the hairs of my head, and my heart fails me.
13 Piacciati, Signore, liberarmi; Signore, affrettati in mio aiuto.	13 Be pleased, Yahweh, to rescue me, Yahweh, come quickly and help me!
14 Quelli che cercano l’anima mia, per farla perire, Sieno confusi, e svergognati tutti quanti; Quelli che prendono piacere nel mio male, Voltino le spalle, e sieno svergognati.	14 Shame and dismay to al who seek to take my life. Back with them, let them be humiliated whodelight in my misfortunes.
15 Quelli che mi dicono: Eia, eia! Sieno distrutti, per ricompensa del vituperio che mi fanno.	15 Let them be aghast with shame, those who say to me, 'Aha, aha!'
16 Rallegrinsi, e gioiscano in te tutti quelli chi ti cercano; Quelli che amano la tua salute dicano del continuo: Magnificato sia il Signore.	16 But joy and happiness in you to all who seek you! Let them ceaselessly cry, 'Great is Yahweh' wholove your saving power.
17 Quanto è a me, io son povero, e bisognoso; Ma pure il Signore ha cura di me; Tu sei il mio aiuto e il mio liberatore; O Dio mio, non tardare	17 Poor and needy as I am, the Lord has me in mind. You, my helper, my Saviour, my God, do notdelay.
