| 8 Jonatán añadió: «Avanzaremos hasta donde están esos hombres y dejaremos que nos descubran. | 8 Then said Jonathan, "Behold, we will cross over to the men, and we will show ourselves to them. |

Jonatán dijo a su escudero: «Sube detrás de mí, porque el Señor los ha entregado en manos de Israel». | 12 And the men of the garrison hailed Jonathan and his armor-bearer, and said, "Come up to us, and we will show you a thing." And Jonathan said to his armor-bearer, "Come up after me; for the LORD has given them into the hand of Israel." |
| 13 Jonatán trepó valiéndose de las manos y los pies, seguido de su escudero. And they fell before Jonathan, and his armor-bearer killed them after him; |

Tembló la tierra, y reinó el terror de Dios. | 15 And there was a panic in the camp, in the field, and among all the people; the garrison and even the raiders trembled; the earth quaked; and it became a very great panic. |

| 21 Los hebreos que antes habían estado al servicio de los filisteos, y que habían subido con ellos al campamento, también se plegaron a los israelitas que estaban con Saúl y Jonatán. | 21 Now the Hebrews who had been with the Philistines before that time and who had gone up with them into the camp, even they also turned to be with the Israelites who were with Saul and Jonathan. |

| 24 Los israelitas estaban exhaustos aquel día, porque Saúl había pronunciado sobre el pueblo esta imprecación: «Maldito el hombre que coma algo hasta la tarde, antes que me haya vengado de mis enemigos». Y nadie comió un solo bocado. | 24 And the men of Israel were distressed that day; for Saul laid an oath on the people, saying, "Cursed be the man who eats food until it is evening and I am avenged on my enemies." So none of the people tasted food. |
| 25 Así la gente llegó a un bosque donde había miel en el suelo. | 25 And all the people came into the forest; and there was honey on the ground. |
| 26 Al entrar en el bosque, vieron que allí corría la miel, pero nadie se atrevió a probarla por temor al juramento. | 26 And when the people entered the forest, behold, the honey was dropping, but no man put his hand to his mouth; for the people feared the oath. |
| 27 Sin embargo, Jonatán no había oído cuando su padre imponía al pueblo el juramento. Por eso, alargó el bastón que tenía en la mano, hundió la punta en la miel y se la llevó a la boca. Entonces se le iluminó la mirada. | 27 But Jonathan had not heard his father charge the people with the oath; so he put forth the tip of the staff that was in his hand, and dipped it in the honeycomb, and put his hand to his mouth; and his eyes became bright. |
| 28 Pero uno de la tropa intervino, diciendo: «Tu padre ha impuesto al pueblo este juramento solemne: «Maldito el hombre que coma algo hoy», y eso que la gente está agotada». | 28 Then one of the people said, "Your father strictly charged the people with an oath, saying, Cursed be the man who eats food this day.'" And the people were faint. |
| 29 Jonatán, replicó: «Mi padre ha traído la desgracia al país. ¡Miren cómo se ha iluminado mis ojos con sólo probar un poco de esta miel! | 29 Then Jonathan said, "My father has troubled the land; see how my eyes have become bright, because I tasted a little of this honey. |
| 30 Si hoy la tropa hubiera comido del botín arrebatado al enemigo, ¡cuánto mayor habría sido la derrota de los filisteos!». | 30 How much better if the people had eaten freely today of the spoil of their enemies which they found; for now the slaughter among the Philistines has not been great." |

| 32 La tropa se lanzó sobre el botín y tomó ovejas, bueyes y terneros; los degollaron sobre el suelo, y el pueblo los comió con la sangre. | 32 the people flew upon the spoil, and took sheep and oxen and calves, and slew them on the ground; and the people ate them with the blood. |

Hagan rodar hasta aquí, ahora mismo, una piedra bien grande». | 33 Then they told Saul, "Behold, the people are sinning against the LORD, by eating with the blood." And he said, "You have dealt treacherously; roll a great stone to me here. " |
| 34 Luego añadió: «Dispérsense entre el pueblo y díganle que me traiga cada uno su buey o su oveja. Degüéllenlos aquí y coman; pero no pequen contra el Señor comiendo carne con sangre». Esa noche, cada uno llevó el buey que tenía a mano y lo degollaron en aquel lugar. | 34 And Saul said, "Disperse yourselves among the people, and say to them, Let every man bring his ox or his sheep, and slay them here, and eat; and do not sin against the LORD by eating with the blood.'" So every one of the people brought his ox with him that night, and slew them there. |
| 35 Saúl edificó un altar al Señor, y ese fue el primer altar erigido por él. | 35 And Saul built an altar to the LORD; it was the first altar that he built to the LORD. |
| 36 Saúl dijo a la tropa: «Bajemos esta noche a perseguir a los filisteos; los saquearemos hasta que despunte el alba y no les dejaremos ni un solo hombre». Ellos respondieron: «Obra como mejor te parezca». Pero el sacerdote dijo: «Consultemos a Dios aquí mismo». | 36 Then Saul said, "Let us go down after the Philistines by night and despoil them until the morning light; let us not leave a man of them." And they said, "Do whatever seems good to you." But the priest said, "Let us draw near hither to God." |
| 37 Entonces Saúl interrogó a Dios: «¿Debo bajar a perseguir a los filisteos? ¿Los entregarás en manos de Israel?». Pero Dios no le respondió nada aquel día. | 37 And Saul inquired of God, "Shall I go down after the Philistines? Wilt thou give them into the hand of Israel?" But he did not answer him that day. |

| 39 Porque, ¡por la vida del Señor, el salvador de Israel!, aunque se trate de mi hijo Jonatán, morirá seguramente». Pero nadie le respondió nada. | 39 For as the LORD lives who saves Israel, though it be in Jonathan my son, he shall surely die." But there was not a man among all the people that answered him. |
| 40 Saúl dijo a todo Israel: «Ustedes se quedarán de un lado, y yo y mi hijo Jonatán del otro». El pueblo dijo a Saúl: «Obra como mejor te parezca». | 40 Then he said to all Israel, "You shall be on one side, and I and Jonathan my son will be on the other side." And the people said to Saul, "Do what seems good to you." |
| 41 Saúl dijo al Señor: «Dios de Israel, danos una respuesta exacta». La suerte cayó sobre Saúl y Jonatán, mientras que el pueblo quedó libre. | 41 Therefore Saul said, "O LORD God of Israel, why hast thou not answered thy servant this day? If this guilt is in me or in Jonathan my son, O LORD, God of Israel, give Urim; but if this guilt is in thy people Israel, give Thummim." And Jonathan and Saul were taken, but the people escaped. |

Así el pueblo libró a Jonatán, y él no murió. | 45 Then the people said to Saul, "Shall Jonathan die, who has wrought this great victory in Israel? Far from it! As the LORD lives, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground; for he has wrought with God this day." So the people ransomed Jonathan, that he did not die. |
| 46 Saúl dejó de perseguir a los filisteos, y estos se fueron a su tierra. | 46 Then Saul went up from pursuing the Philistines; and the Philistines went to their own place. |
| 47 Una vez que Saúl asumió el poder real sobre Israel, hizo la guerra a todos sus enemigos de alrededor: a Moab, a los amonitas, a Edom, a los reyes de Sobá y a los filisteos.
