Jeremías 15

EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 El Señor me dijo: Aunque Moisés y Samuel se presentaran delante de mí, yo no me conmovería de este pueblo. ¡Echalos fuera de mi presencia y que se vayan!	1 Yahweh said to me, 'Even if Moses and Samuel pleaded before me, I could not sympathise with thispeople! Drive them out of my sight; away with them!
2 Y si ellos te dicen: «¿A dónde iremos?», tú les responderás: ¡El destinado a la muerte, a la muerte, el destinado a la espada, a la espada, el destinado al hambre, al hambre, el destinado al cautiverio, al cautiverio!	2 And if they ask you, "Where shal we go?" tel them this, "Yahweh says this: Those for the plague, to the plague; those for the sword, to the sword; those for famine, to famine; those for captivity, to captivity!
3 Yo mandaré contra ellos cuatro clases de castigos –oráculo del Señor–: la espada para matar, los perros para arrastrar, los pájaros del cielo y las fieras de la tierra para devorar y destruir.	3 "I shal consign them to four kinds of thing, Yahweh declares: the sword to kil , the dogs to drag away,the birds of heaven and wild animals of earth to devour and to destroy.
4 Haré de ellos el espanto de todos los reinos de la tierra, a causa de Manasés, hijo de Ezequías, rey de Judá, por todo lo que él hizo en Jerusalén.	4 I shal make them an object of horror to al the kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh son ofHezekiah, king of Judah, and what he did in Jerusalem." '
5 ¿Quién tendrá piedad de ti, Jerusalén, y quién se condolerá por ti? ¿Quién se apartará de su camino para averiguar cómo estás?	5 Who is there to pity you, Jerusalem, who to grieve for you, who to go out of his way and ask how youare?
6 Fuiste tú la que me rechazaste –oráculo del Señor–, la que te volviste atrás. Entonces, yo extendí mi mano y te destruí, cansado de tenerte compasión.	6 'You yourself have rejected me, Yahweh declares, you have turned your back on me; so I havestretched my hand over you and destroyed you. Tired of relenting,
7 Yo los aventé con la horquilla por las ciudades del país. Dejé sin hijos a mi pueblo, lo hice perecer, porque no se apartaban de sus caminos.	7 I have winnowed them with a winnow at the country's gates. They have been bereft, I have destroyedmy people, but they refuse to leave their ways.
8 Hice a sus viudas más numerosas que la arena de los mares; hice venir sobre las madres de los jóvenes guerreros; un devastador en pleno mediodía; hice caer de repente sobre ellas la angustia y el pánico.	8 I have made their widows outnumber the sand of the sea. On the mother of young warriors I bring thedestroyer in broad daylight. Suddenly I bring anguish and terror down on her.
9 Desfallece la que dio a luz siete veces, está a punto de expirar; su sol se ha puesto en pleno día, quedó avergonzada y confundida. Al resto de ellos los entregaré a la espada delante de sus enemigos –oráculo del Señor–.	9 The mother of seven sons grows faint and gasps for breath. It is stil day, but already her sun has set,she is dismayed and distracted; and the rest of them I shal consign to the sword, to their enemies, Yahwehdeclares.'
10 ¡Qué desgracia, madre mía, que me hayas dado a luz, a mí, un hombre discutido y controvertido por todo el país! Yo no di ni recibí nada prestado, pero todos me maldicen.	10 A disaster for me, mother, that you bore me to be a man of strife and dissension for the wholecountry. I neither lend nor borrow, yet all of them curse me.
11 ¡Que así sea, Señor, si no te he servido bien, si en el tiempo de la desgracia y de la angustia, no intervine ante ti por mi enemigo!	11 Have I not genuinely done my best to serve you, Yahweh? Have I not interceded with you in time ofdisaster and distress!
12 ¿Se puede quebrar el hierro, el hierro del Norte, y el bronce?	12 'Can iron break the iron of the north and the bronze?
13 Tu riqueza y tus tesoros los entregaré como botín, gratuitamente, por todos tus pecados, en todo tu territorio.	13 Your wealth and your treasures I shal hand over to plunder, without repayment, because of all yoursins, throughout your territory.
14 Haré que sirvas a tus enemigos en un país que no conocías, porque un fuego se encendió en mis narices y arde contra ustedes.	14 I shal enslave you to your enemies in a country which you do not know, for my anger has kindled afire that wil burn you up.'
15 Señor, acuérdate de mí, tómame en cuenta, y véngame de mis perseguidores; no dejes que me arrebaten, abusando de tu paciencia: mira que soporto injurias por tu causa.	15 Yahweh, you know! Remember me, take care of me, and avenge me on my persecutors. Howeverlong your anger endures, do not snatch me away. Realise that I suffer insult for your sake.
16 Cuando se presentaban tus palabras, yo las devoraba, tus palabras eran mi gozo y la alegría de mi corazón, porque yo soy llamado con tu Nombre, Señor, Dios de los ejércitos.	16 When your words came, I devoured them: your word was my delight and the joy of my heart; for I wascal ed by your Name, Yahweh, God Sabaoth.
17 Yo no me senté a disfrutar en la reunión de los que se divierten; forzado por tu mano, me mantuve apartado, porque tú me habías llenado de indignación.	17 I never sat in the company of scoffers amusing myself; with your hands on me I held myself aloof,since you had fil ed me with indignation.
18 ¿Por qué es incesante mi dolor, por qué mi llaga es incurable, se resiste a sanar? ¿Serás para mí como un arroyo engañoso, de aguas inconstantes?	18 Why is my suffering continual, my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? Truly, for me you are adeceptive stream with uncertain waters!
19 Por eso, así habla el Señor: Si tú vuelves, yo te haré volver, tú estarás de pie delante de mí, si separas lo precioso de la escoria, tú serás mi portavoz. Ellos se volverán hacia ti, pero tú no te volverás hacia ellos.	19 To which Yahweh replied, 'If you repent, I shal restore you to plead before me. If you distinguishbetween the precious and the base, you shal be as my own mouth. They will come back to you, but you mustnot go back to them.
20 Yo te pondré frente a este pueblo como una muralla de bronce inexpugnable. Te combatirán, pero no podrán contra ti, porque yo estoy contigo para salvarte y librarte –oráculo del Señor–.	20 As far as these people are concerned, I shal make you a fortified wall of bronze. They will fightagainst you but will not overcome you, because I am with you to save you and rescue you, Yahweh declares.
21 Yo te libraré de la mano de los malvados y te rescataré del poder de los violentos.	21 I shal rescue you from the clutches of the wicked and redeem you from the grasp of the violent.'
