And she remained in the camp for three days, and went out each night to the valley of Bethulia, and bathed at the spring in the camp. |
| 8 Cuando salía del agua, oraba al Señor, el Dios de Israel, que dirigiera sus pasos para resurgimiento de los hijos de su pueblo. | 8 When she came up from the spring she prayed the Lord God of Israel to direct her way for the raising up of her people. |
| 9 Y cuando regresaba, ya purificada, permanecía en la carpa hasta que le traían su alimento, hacia el atardecer. | 9 So she returned clean and stayed in the tent until she ate her food toward evening. |
| 10 Al cuarto día, Holofernes ofreció un banquete, exclusivamente para su personal de servicio, sin invitar a ninguno de sus oficiales. | 10 On the fourth day Holofernes held a banquet for his slave only, and did not invite any of his officers. |
| 11 Y dijo a Bagoas, el eunuco que era su mayordomo: «Trata de convencer a esa mujer hebrea que está bajo tu cuidado para que venga a comer y a beber con nosotros. | 11 And he said to Bagoas, the eunuch who had charge of his personal affairs, "Go now and persuade the Hebrew woman who is in your care to join us and eat and drink with us. |

| 14 Judit le respondió: «¿Quién soy yo para contradecir a mi señor? | 15 En seguida se levantó, y se atavió con sus vestiduras y con todos sus adornos femeninos. Su servidora, se adelantó y le extendió en el piso, ante Holofernes, las pieles que Bagoas le había dado para su uso diario, a fin de que comiera reclinada sobre ellas. | 15 So she got up and arrayed herself in all her woman's finery, and her maid went and spread on the ground for her before Holofernes the soft fleeces which she had received from Bagoas for her daily use, so that she might recline on them when she ate. |
| 16 Judit entró y se reclinó; el corazón de Holofernes quedó cautivado por ella, su espíritu se turbó, y ardía en deseos de poseerla, porque desde la primera vez que la vio, buscaba la oportunidad de seducirla. | 16 Then Judith came in and lay down, and Holofernes' heart was ravished with her and he was moved with great desire to possess her; for he had been waiting for an opportunity to deceive her, ever since the day he first saw her. |
