1 E andarono tutti i principi delle famiglie di Levi ad Eleazaro (sommo) sacerdote (e prete), a Iosuè figliuolo di Nun e a tutti i duchi de' parentadi, per tutte le schiatte de' figliuoli d' Israel.	1 The heads of families of the Levites then came to the priest, Eleazar, Joshua son of Nun and theheads of families of the tribes of Israel-
2 E parlarono loro in Silo della terra di Canaan, e sì disseno: Iddio Signore sì comandò per mano di Moisè, che ci fossono date cittadi per abitare, e' borghi loro a pascere (e a conservare) gli animali.	2 they were then at Shiloh in Canaan. They said to them, 'Through Moses, Yahweh ordered us to begiven towns to live in, with their pasture lands for our livestock.'
3 E diedono i figliuoli d' Israel delle possessioni loro, secondo il comandamento di Dio, cittadi e borghi loro.	3 In compliance with Yahweh's order, the Israelites consequently and from their own heritage gave theLevites the fol owing towns with their pasture lands:
4 E venne la (prima) sorte ai figliuoli di Caat de' figliuoli d' Aaron (sommo) sacerdote (e prete) delle schiatte di Giuda e di Simeon e di Beniamin; tredici cittadi;	4 Lots were cast for the clans of the Kohathites: to those Levites who were sons of Aaron the priest, felthirteen towns from the tribes of Judah, Simeon and Benjamin;
5 e a quegli che rimaseno de' figliuoli di Caat, cioè (i preti e) i leviti i quali erano soperchiati (e stati più) delle schiatte di Efraim e di Dan e della metà della schiatta di Manasse; X cittadi.	5 to the other sons of Kohath, by clans,
6 Ma ai figliuoli di Gerson poi venne la sorte, che togliessono delle schiatte di Issacar e di Aser e di Neftali e della mezza schiatta di Manasse, la quale istava in Basan, in numero di XIII cittadi.	6 fel ten towns from the tribes of Ephraim, Dan, and the half-tribe of Manasseh. To the sons of Gershon,by clans, fel thirteen towns from the tribes of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali and the half-tribe of Manasseh inBashan.
7 E ai figliuoli di Merari, secondo i loro parentadi, delle schiatte di Ruben e di Gad e di Zabulon, XII cittadi.	7 To the sons of Merari, by clans, fel twelve towns from the tribes of Reuben, Gad and Zebulun.
8 E diedero i figliuoli d'Israel ai leviti le cittadi e borghi loro, come Iddio avea comandato per mano di Moisè, dividendo a ciascheduno per sorte.	8 The Israelites assigned these towns and their pasture lands to the Levites by lot, as Yahweh hadordered through Moses.
9 Delle schiatte de' figliuoli di Giuda e di Simeon diede Iosuè certe cittadi, delle quali questi sono i nomi:	9 From the tribe of Judah and the tribe of Simeon, they gave the towns named below.
10 Ai figliuoli di Aaron, per le famiglie di Caat della schiatta di Levi; imperciò che la prima sorte venne a loro fuori; fu data	10 The first portion was for the sons of Aaron, belonging to the clans of the Kohathites, to the sons ofLevi, since the first lot was theirs.
11 Cariatarbe del padre di Enac, la quale si chiama Ebron, nel monte di Giuda, e' borghi suoi intorno intorno.	11 They gave them Kiriath-Arba, Anak's father's town -- now Hebron -- in the highlands of Judah, with itssurrounding pasture lands.
12 Ma i campi e le ville (di queste cittadi) avea dato a Caleb, figliuolo di Iefone, a possedere.	12 The fields and vil ages of this town, however, they gave to Caleb son of Jephunneh as his property.
13 Adunque alli figliuoli di Aaron [diede] Ebron, la quale si è cittade di rifugio, col (suo sobborgo e) li suoi borghi, e la città di Lebna co' borghi suoi,	13 To the sons of Aaron the priest they gave Hebron, a city of refuge for those who had kil ed, with itspasture lands, as wel as Libnah with its pasture lands,
14 e anco Ieter ed Estemo,	14 Jattir with its pasture lands, Eshtemoa with its pasture lands,
15 e Olon, Dabir,	15 Holon with its pasture lands, Debir with its pasture lands,
16 e Ain, Ieta e Betsames co' suoi borghi; le quali sono in tutto cittadi nove, come è detto, di due schiatte.	16 Ashan with its pasture lands, Juttah with its pasture lands, and Beth-Shemesh with its pasture lands:nine towns taken from these two tribes;
17 Ma della schiatta de' figliuoli di Beniamin sì sono Gabaon e Gabae,	17 and, from the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon with its pasture lands, Geba with its pasture lands,
18 e Anatot e Almon coi loro borghi: sono in tutto quattro cittadi.	18 Anathoth with its pasture lands and Almon with its pasture lands: four towns.
19 E tutte quante insieme le cittadi de' figliuoli di Aaron (sommo) sacerdote sì sono XIII co' loro borghi.	19 Total number of towns for the priests, the sons of Aaron: thirteen towns with their pasture lands.
20 A quelli che rimasero, per famiglie, de' figliuoli di Caat della schiatta di Levi, questa si è la possessione data loro:	20 As regards the clans of the sons of Kohath, those Levites stil left of the sons of Kohath, the towns oftheir lot were taken from the tribe of Ephraim.
21 Della schiatta di Efraim, le città del rifugio, (chiamata) Sichem, con li borghi suoi nel monte di Efraim, e Gazer,	21 They were given Shechem, a city of refuge for those who had kil ed, with its pasture lands, in thehighlands of Ephraim, as wel as Gezer with its pasture lands,
22 e Cibsaim e Betoron co' borghi suoi; cittadi quattro.	22 Kibzaim with its pasture lands, and Beth-Horon with its pasture lands: four towns;
23 Della schiatta di Dan fue Elteco e Gabaton,	23 from the tribe of Dan, Elteke with its pasture lands, Gibbethon with its pasture lands,
24 e Aialon e Getremmon co' loro borghi; sono cittadi quattro.	24 Aijalon with its pasture lands and Gath-Rimmon with its pasture lands: four towns;
25 Ma della metà della schiatta di Manasse fue Tanac e Getremmon co' borghi loro; cittadi due.	25 and, from the half-tribe of Manasseh, Taanach with its pasture lands and Jibleam with its pasturelands: two towns.
26 E (sono) tutte queste X, e li borghi loro, furono date ai figliuoli di Caat, i quali erano in minore grado.	26 In al : ten towns with their pasture lands for the remaining clans of the sons of Kohath.
27 Ma i figliuoli di Gerson, della schiatta di Levi, sì diede loro della mezza schiatta di Manasse, le città di rifugio, loro borghi; sono Gaulon in Basan e Bosram, coi due cittadi.	27 To the sons of Gershon, of the levitical clans, were given: from the half-tribe of Manasseh, Golan inBashan, a city of refuge for those who had kil ed, with its pasture lands, and Ashtaroth with its pasture lands --two towns;
28 Ma della schiatta d'Issacar: Cesion e Daberet	28 from the tribe of Issachar, Kishion with its pasture lands, Dobrath with its pasture lands,
29 e Iaramot ed Engannim, coi loro borghi; sono cittadi quattro.	29 Jarmuth with its pasture lands and En-Gannim with its pasture lands -- four towns;
30 E della schtatta d' Aser fu Masal e Abdon,	30 from the tribe of Asher, Mishal with its pasture lands, Abdon with its pasture lands,
31 ed Elcat e Roob colli borghi loro; sono cittadi quattro.	31 Helkath with its pasture lands and Rehob with its pasture lands -- four towns;
32 Ma della schiatta di Neftali furono cittadi di rifugio, (prima) Cedes in Galilea e Ammot Dor e Cartan coi loro borghi; sono cittadi tre.	32 and, from the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee, a city of refuge for those who had kil ed, with itspasture lands, Hammoth-Dor with its pasture lands and Kartan with its pasture lands -- three towns.
33 E furono tutte le cittadi delle famiglie di Gerson XIII, coi borghi loro.	33 Total number of towns of the Gershonites, by clans: thirteen towns with their pasture lands.
34 Ma i figliuoli di Merari della schiatta di Levi, di minore grado, secondo le loro famiglie fu data la sorte della schiatta di Zabulon, cioè Iecnam e Carta,	34 To the clans of the sons of Merari, the remainder of the Levites, fel : from the tribe of Zebulun,Jokneam with its pasture lands, Kartah with its pasture lands,
35 e Damna e Naalol; sono cittadi quattro coi borghi loro.	35 Rimmon with its pasture lands and Nahalal with its pasture lands -- four towns;
36 E della schiatta di Ruben, di là dal (fiume) Giordano verso Gerico, furono date le città di rifugio, (in prima) Bosor nella solitudine, [Misor] e laser e Ietson e Mefaat; sono cittadi quattro colli loro borghï.	36 on the other side of the Jordan opposite Jericho, from the tribe of Reuben, Bezer in the desert, on thetableland, a city of refuge for those who had killed, with its pasture lands, Jahaz with its pasture lands,
37 E della schiatta di Gad furono date cittadi di rifugio, (prima) Ramot in Galaad e Manaim ed Esebon e lazer; sono cittadi quattro colli loro borghi.	37 Kedemoth with its pasture lands and Mephaath with its pasture lands -- four towns;
38 E sono tutte le cittadi [de' figliuoli] di Merari XII, secondo i loro parentadi e famiglie.	38 and, from the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead, a city of refuge for those who had killed, with its pasturelands, Mahanaim with its pasture lands,
39 Adunque tutte quante le cittadi de' Leviti, nel mezzo della possessione de' figliuoli d' Israel, sì furono XLVIII	39 Heshbon with its pasture lands and Jazer with its pasture lands -- four towns.
40 coi loro borghi; ciascune divise (e date) secondo le loro famiglie.	40 Total number of towns forming the lot of the sons of Merari by clans, of the remaining levitical clans:twelve towns.
41 E diede Iddio Signore ai figliuoli d'Israel tutta la terra che giurò di dare a' padri loro; e sì la possedettero, e abitàrvi dentro.	41 The total number of towns for the Levites in Israelite territory was forty-eight towns with their pasture lands.
42 E fu data la pace di Dio a tutte le nazioni dintorno e non fue niuno ardito, cioè nemici, di contrastare loro; ma tutti tornarono nelli termini loro. (e comandamenti).	42 These towns consisted in each case of the town itself and the pasture land round it. This was thecase with all the towns.
43 E non fue una sola parola, la quale Iddio avesse promessa di fare loro, che la mutasse; ma per fatti fermi e veri e perpetuali ogni cosa compiette (e trasse a fine).	43 This was how Yahweh gave the Israelites the entire country which he had sworn to give to theirancestors. They took possession of it and settled in it.
	44 Yahweh granted them tranquil ity on all their frontiers just as he had sworn to their ancestors and, ofal their enemies, not one succeeded in resisting them. Yahweh put al their enemies at their mercy.
	45 Of al the promises that Yahweh had made to the House of Israel, not one failed; al were fulfilled.
