Seconda Epistola di Santo Paulo alli Corinti 10

1 E io medesimo Paulo prego voi, per la mansuetudine e per la benignità di Cristo, il quale certamente in faccia son umile davanti da voi, e non presente confidomi in voi.	1 But I myself, Paul, am begging you, through the meekness and modesty of Christ. I am certainly, by appearances, lowly among you, yet I have confidence in you, even while I am absent.
2 Ma vi prego, chè io presente non ardisco, per quella confidanza che io mi penso d'ardire in alquanti, li quali pensano che noi andiamo secondo la carne.	2 So I am petitioning you, lest I be bold, when present, with that bold confidence that I am considered to have by certain ones who judge us as if we were walking according to the flesh.
3 Imperò che andando in carne, non combattiamo secondo la carne.	3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not battle according to the flesh.
4 Ma certo l'arme del nostro combattimento non son carnali, ma sono potenza di Dio a distruggimento de' nemici; e siamo distruggitori de' malvagi consigli (del corpo),	4 For the weapons of our battles are not carnal, yet still they are powerful with God, unto the destruction of fortifications: tearing down every counsel
5 e d'ogni altezza che si leva (in superbia e) contro la scienza di Dio, recando in cattività ogni intelletto al servizio di Cristo.	5 and height that extols itself contrary to the wisdom of God, and leading every intellect into the captivity of obedience to Christ,
6 E siamo (inanimati e) pronti per vendicare ogni inobbedienza, quando sarà compiuta la vostra obbedienza.	6 and standing ready to repudiate every disobedience, when your own obedience has been fulfilled.
7 Vedete quelle cose che sono secondo faccia. Se alcuno si pensa d' essere di Cristo, queste cose pensi appo sè; chè secondo ch' egli è di Cristo, così siamo ancora noi.	7 Consider the things that are in accord with appearances. If anyone trusts that by these things he belongs to Christ, let him reconsider this within himself. For just as he belongs to Christ, so also do we.
8 Ma se alcuna cosa più che io non debbia mi son gloriato della signoria, la qual ci diede il Signore per edificamento, e non per distruggimento vostro, non me ne vergognerò.	8 And if I were even to glory somewhat more about our authority, which the Lord has given to us for your edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed.
9 Adunque, imperò che io non voglio che altri pensi che io vi voglia spaventare (e impaurire) con mie epistole;	9 But let it not be said that I am scaring you by means of epistles.
10 chè certo le epistole, dicono alquanti intra noi, son gravi e forti; ma la presenza del (suo) corpo è debile, la e (sua) parola è contendibile (e da nulla);	10 For they say: “His epistles, indeed, are weighty and strong. But his bodily presence is weak, and his speech is contemptible.”
11 or si pensino questi, che sì dicono, che tali quali noi siamo di lungi con parole nell' epistole, altrettali saremo a loro presenti col fatto.	11 Let someone like this realize that whatever we are in word through epistles, while absent: we are much the same in deed, while present.
12 Chè certo noi non avemo ardire d' agguagliarci a molti li quali lodano sè medesimi; ma noi, misurando noi medesimi, agguagliamo noi a noi.	12 For we would not dare to interpose or compare ourselves with certain ones who commend themselves. But we measure ourselves by ourselves, and we compare ourselves with ourselves.
13 E ancora noi (se avanziamo in grandezza) [non ci glorieremo] oltra misura, ma secondo la misura della regola la qual Dio ha ordinata in noi, misura di potere venire (e durare) insino alla fine di voi.	13 Thus, we will not glory beyond our measure, but rather according to the measure of the limit which God has measured out to us, a measure which extends even to you.
14 E non ci soprastendiamo noi, secondo che quelli che non ci vergogniamo; a voi noi veramente venimmo con l' evangelio di Cristo.	14 For we are not overextending ourselves, as if we are not able to reach as far as you are able. For we have gone even as far as you have in the Gospel of Christ.
15 Chè noi non siamo vantatori in grandezza con l'altrui fatica; ma avemo speranza nella fede vostra che cresce, e d' essere pagati secondo la d'essere nostra regola in abbondanza,	15 We are not glorying immeasurably over the labors of others. Instead, we hold on to the hope of your growing faith, so as to be magnified in you, according to our own limits, but in abundance,
16 in quelle cose che son oltra di voi evangelizzanti; e non in aliena regola, in quelle cose che son apparecchiate, ci dobbiamo gloriare.	16 and even so as to evangelize in those places that are beyond you, not in order to glory in the measure of others, but rather in those things which have already been prepared.
17 Quelli che si vanta (e che si prega), in Dio si vanti.	17 But whoever glories, let him glory in the Lord.
18 Chè non è lodato quello che si loda; ma quello è lodato, il quale loda il Signore.	18 For it is not he who commends himself who is approved, but rather he whom God commends.
