BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Ecco Core, figliuolo d'Isaar, i figliuoli di Caat ei figliuoli di Levi, e Datan e Abiron figliuoli di Eliab, e On figliuolo di Felet de' figliuoli di Ruben,	1 Now Korah son of Izhar, son of Kohath the Levite, and the Reubenites Dathan and Abiram sons ofEliab, and On son of Peleth were proud
2 si levarono contro a Moisè, e altri figliuoli d'Israel, CCL uomini savi della sinagoga, i quali erano chiamati da consiglio.	2 and rebel ed against Moses with two hundred and fifty Israelites who were leaders of the community,prominent at the solemn feasts, men of repute.
3 E stando contro a Moisè e ad Aaron, dissero: bastava a voi, che tutta la moltitudine è santa, e in loro è Dio. Perchè vi levate voi sopra il popolo di Dio?	3 These banded together against Moses and Aaron and said to them, 'You take too much onyourselves! The whole community, al its members, are consecrated, and Yahweh lives among them. Why setyourselves higher than Yahweh's community?'
4 Vedendo questo, Moisè sùbito cadde in terra.	4 On hearing this, Moses threw himself on his face.
5 E parlò a Core, e a tutta la moltitudine: domattina sarà Iddio manifesto a coloro i quali esso hae eletti per santi; e quegli ch' ello eleggerà s'ap prossimeranno a lui.	5 Then he said to Korah and al in his party, 'Tomorrow morning Yahweh wil reveal who is his, who theconsecrated man whom he wil al ow to approach him. The one he al ows to approach is the one whom he haschosen.
6 Ed imperciò fate questo: che ognuno tolga il suo turibolo, tu Core, e tutto lo tuo consiglio.	6 This is what you must do: take the censers of Korah and al in his party,
7 E domani vi metterete il fuoco dentro, e di sopra lo timiama in presenza di Dio; e quello che Iddio eleggerà, sarà santo (di Dio). Molto vi levate, figliuoli di Levi!	7 put fire in them and put incense in them before Yahweh tomorrow, and the one whom Yahwehchooses wil be the consecrated man. Levites, you take too much on yourselves!'
8 E poi disse a Core: udite, figliuoli di Levi.	8 Moses then said to Korah, 'Now listen, you Levites!
9 Non hae Iddio fatto poco, che v’liae separati da tutti i figliuoli d'Israel, acciò che gli servite nell'officio del tabernacolo, e istate in presenza del popolo, e ministrate a lui.	9 Is it not enough for you that the God of Israel has singled you out of the community of Israel, andcal ed you to be near him, to serve in Yahweh's Dwel ing and to represent the community by officiating on itsbehalf?
10 E imperciò fece te andare a lui, e tutti li tuoi fratelli figliuoli di Levi; e anco l'officio dello sacerdote vi vendicareste,	10 He has cal ed you to be near him, you and al your brother Levites with you, and now you want to bepriests as wel !
11 e tutta la tua ischiatta istà contro a Dio? Chi è Aaron, che voi avete mormorato contro a lui?	11 For which reason, you and al in your party have banded together against Yahweh himself: for whatis Aaron, that you should mutter against him?'
12 Mandò Moisè per Datan e Abiron figliuoli di Eliab; e loro respuosero che none volevano venire.	12 Moses then summoned Dathan and Abiram sons of Eliab. They replied, 'We wil not come.
13 E dissero: non è assai, che voi ci avete ca vati della terra che germinava latte e miele, acciò che ne uccideste in questo deserto, non che volere essere nostro Signore?	13 Is it not enough for you to have brought us away from a country flowing with milk and honey to kil usin the desert, without your making yourself our absolute ruler?
14 E secondo la verità tu ci hai indutto nella terra la quale ha rivi, che corron latte e miele, e sì ci hae dato possessioni di vigne e di campi! e gli occhi tu ci voli cavare? per niuno modo vi verremo.	14 What is more, you have not brought us to a country flowing with milk and honey and you have notgiven us fields and vineyards for our heritage. Do you think you can hoodwink these people? We wil not come.'
15 Andò Moisè, e irato molto disse a Dio: non ragguardare i loro sacrificii; tu sai che giammai da loro non ebbi pure un asinello, e giammai non gli afflissi.	15 Moses flew into a rage and said to Yahweh, 'Disregard their cereal offering! I have not taken somuch as a donkey from them, nor have I wronged any of them.'
16 E allora disse a Core: tu e ogni tua congregazione istarete in una parte in presenza di Dio, e Aaron domane separato.	16 Moses said to Korah, 'You and all your party, come before Yahweh tomorrow, you and they, andAaron too.
17 E ognuno torrae il suo turibolo, e ponetevi lo incenso sopra, [offerendo al Signore] CCL turiboli. Aaron tenea lo suo turibolo.	17 Each wil take his censer, put incense in it, and bring his censer before Yahweh -- two hundred andfifty censers. You and Aaron too wil each bring his censer.'
18 (Essendo la mattina), e stando Moisè ed Aaron,	18 Each of them took his censer, put fire in it and placed incense on it, and stood at the entrance to theTent of Meeting with Moses and Aaron.
19 e dietro a loro tutta questa moltitudine alla porta del tabernacolo, apparve a tutti la gloria di Dio.	19 Then, Korah having assembled the whole community to confront them at the entrance to the Tent ofMeeting, the glory of Yahweh appeared to the whole community.
20 Parlo Iddio a Moisè e ad Aaron, e disse loro:	20 Yahweh then spoke to Moses and Aaron. He said,
21 Levatevi di questa congregazione, acciò che tutti gli uccida.	21 'Get away from this community. I am going to destroy them here and now.'
22 E loro si gittarono in terra, e dissero: O fortissimo Iddio (, Signore) delli spiriti d'ogni carne, per uno che pecchi non volere mandare contra tutti l'ira tua.	22 They threw themselves on their faces and cried out, 'O God, God of the spirits that give life to everyliving thing, wil you be angry with the whole community because one man has sinned?'
23 Iddio parlò a Moisè, e dissegli:	23 Yahweh then said to Moses,
24 Comanda a tutto il popolo, che si separi del tabernacolo di Core e Datan e Abiron.	24 'Speak to the community and say, "Stand wel clear of Korah's tent." '
25 E seguitandolo gli antichi d'Israel, levossi Moisè, e andando a Datan e Abiron,	25 Moses stood up and went to Dathan and Abiram; the elders of Israel fol owed him.
26 disse alla gente: levatevi del tabernacolo di questi uomini pessimi, e none toccate alcuna loro cosa, acciò che voi non vi involgiate nelli loro peccati.	26 He spoke to the community and said, 'Stand away, I tel you, from the tents of these sinners, andtouch nothing that belongs to them, for fear that with all their sins you too wil be swept away.'
27 Partendosi dai loro tabernacoli per ogni parte, Datan e Abiron istavano alle porte dei loro paviglioni, con le donne loro e coi loro figliuoli.	27 So they moved away from Korah's tent. Dathan and Abiram had come out and were standing attheir tent doors, with their wives, their sons and their little ones.
28 E Moisè parlò (al popolo): in questo saperete voi, che Iddio m’abbia fatto fare questo, e io non l'abbia fatto da mio cuore.	28 Moses said, 'This is how you will know that Yahweh himself has sent me to perform al these tasksand that I am not doing them of my own accord.
29 Se loro morranno dalla morte che comune mente ad ogni uomo suole avvenire, o mandasse loro di quella piaga che suole mandare agli altri, Iddio non m'avrà mandato.	29 If these people die a natural death such as people commonly die, then Yahweh has not sent me.
30 Ma se nuova piaga verrà loro, cioè che la terra apra la sua bocca e inghiòttali, e tutte le cose che a loro appartiene vadano con loro nello inferno vivi, saperete che loro bestemmiarono Iddio.	30 But if Yahweh does something utterly new, if the earth should open its mouth and swal ow them andal their belongings, so that they go down alive to Sheol, then you wil know that they held Yahweh in contempt.'
31 E sì tosto come Moisè ebbe finito di par lare, la terra s'aperse sotto i loro piedi (in loro presenza),	31 The moment he finished saying all this, the ground split apart under their feet,
32 e inghiottilli insieme coi loro tabernacoli, e con tutte le loro cose.	32 the earth opened its mouth and swal owed them, their families, all Korah's people and al theirproperty.
33 E di mezzo la moltitudine andarono allo in ferno vivi.	33 They went down alive to Sheol with al their belongings. The earth closed over them and theydisappeared in the middle of the community.
34 E tutti i figliuoli d'Israel, i quali stavano presso a loro, fuggivano per paura di non s'abbissare, dicendo: noi fuggimo, acciò che la terra non cinghiotta.	34 At their cries, all the Israelites round them took to their heels, saying, 'We do not want the earth toswal ow us too!'
35 E il fuoco di Dio discese da cielo, e arse quelli CCL che offerivano lo incenso (a Dio.)	35 Fire then shot out from Yahweh and consumed the two hundred and fifty men offering incense.
36 Allora parlò Dio a Moisè, e dissegli:
37 Comanda ad Eleazar figliuolo d'Aaron sacerdote, che tolga li turiboli di mezzo del fuoco, e disparga il fuoco d'ogni parte; perciò che sono santificati
38 per mano di peccatori; e facciali (fondere e) fare in lame, e pongagli agli altari, però che in loro fu offerto lo incenso al Signore, acciò che sia memoria di questo che è istato ai figliuoli d'Israel.
39 E tolse Eleazar questi turiboli di rame, nelli quali aveano offerto quelli i quali il fuoco divorò; e condusseli in lame, e appiccolli all'altare, (se condo che gli fu comandato),
40 acciò che fosse sempre in memoria a' figliuoli d'Israel, che nullo fosse mai ardito d'andare a fare oblazione all'altare, se non fosse della schiatta d'Aaron sacerdote, acciò che non patisca la pena la quale hae patìta Core e ogni sua congregazione, parlando Iddio a Moisè.
41 E mormorò tutto il popolo d'Israel, il se guente dì, contro a Moisè e ad Aaron, dicendo: voi siete quelli che avete ucciso il popolo di Dio.
42 Ed essendo commossa la sedizione, e la mormorazione cresciuta,
43 Moisè e Aaron fuggirono nel tabernacolo santo. E così tosto come furono dentro, la gloria di Dio coperse tutto il tabernacolo.
44 E disse Iddio a Moisè:
45 Levatevi del mezzo della moltitudine, e io gli consumerò. E loro istando in terra,
46 disse Moisè ad Aaron: tuogli il turibolo, e mettivi del fuoco dell' altare, e ponvi sopra dell' incenso; va tosto al popolo e priega per loro, perciò che l'ira sì è già venuta da Dio sopra di loro.
47 E quando Aaron l'ebbe preso, si andò nel mezzo del popolo; e già il fuoco era venuto fra loro.
48 Ed egli, istando in orazione, pregò per lo popolo, e cessò via la piaga.
49 Quelli che morirono di questo fuoco furono XIIII milia settecento, senza quelli ch' erano prima morti con Core.
50 E tornò Aaron a Moisè all'uscio del tabernacolo del patto, dopo che cessò l'uccisione.
