Amos 7

1 Queste cose sì mi mostrò lo nostro Signore Iddio; ed ecco, lo creatore dello grillo nel cominciamento delle cose che germinavano del serotino vento acquaio, ed ecco, lo serotino venne dopo lo tonditore della greggia.	1 This is what the Lord GOD showed me: He was forming a locust swarm when the late growth began to come up (the late growth after the king's mowing).
2 E avvenne, quando era compiuto di mangiare l'erba della terra, e io dissi: o Signore, sia tu a me misericordioso, e facciotene grande preghiera: chi risusciterà Iacob, però che è piccolo?	2 While they were eating all the grass in the land, I said: Forgive, O Lord GOD! How can Jacob stand? He is so small!
3 Lo Signore hae avuto misericordia; e non sarà sopra questo, dice lo Signore Iddio.	3 And the LORD repented of this. "It shall not be," said the Lord GOD.
4 E questo mi dimostrò lo Signore Iddio: ecco che chiamerà lo giudicio al fuoco, e divorerà di grande abisso, e mangerà insieme la parte.	4 Then the Lord GOD showed me this: he called for a judgment by fire. It had devoured the great abyss, and was consuming the land,
5 E io dissi: o Signore Iddio, io ti fo preghiera che tu ti stia; (chè ecco) chi risusciterà lacob, che è piccolo?	5 when I said: Cease, O Lord GOD! How can Jacob stand? He is so small!
6 Ed ebbe misericordia sopra questo; ma ancora questo non sarà, dice lo Signore Iddio.	6 The LORD repented of this. "This also shall not be," said the Lord GOD.
7 Questo mi dimostrò lo Signore Iddio; ed ecco lo Signore in su un muro linito avea in mano una cazzuola di maestro da murare.	7 Then the Lord GOD showed me this: he was standing by a wall, plummet in hand.
8 E lo Signore disse: che vedi tu, Amos? E io dissi (io vidi) una cazzuola di maestro da murare. E lo Signore disse: ecco, io porrò la cazzuola nel mezzo del popolo mio Israel; e io non aggiugnerò più ch' io lo vesta.	8 The LORD asked me, "What do you see, Amos?" And when I answered, "A plummet," the Lord said: See, I will lay the plummet in the midst of my people Israel; I will forgive them no longer.
9 E saranno guaste l'altezze delli idoli, e le santificazioni d' Israel saranno desolate; e leverommi suso sopra la casa di Ieroboam (re d' Israel) nel coltello.	9 The high places of Isaac shall be laid waste, and the sanctuaries of Israel made desolate; I will attack the house of Jeroboam with the sword.
10 E mandò Amasia, sacerdote di Betel, a Ieroboam re d'Israel, e disse: Amos s' è ribellato contro a te nel mezzo della casa d' Israel; e la terra non potrà sostenere tutte le sue parole.	10 Amaziah, the priest of Bethel, sent word to Jeroboam, king of Israel: "Amos has conspired against you here within Israel; the country cannot endure all his words.
11 E Amos dice questo: Ieroboam morrà con coltello, e Israel prigione si partirà della terra sua.	11 For this is what Amos says: Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be exiled from its land."
12 E disse Amasia ad Amos: tu che vedi andare, fuggi nella terra di Giuda, e mangia ivi lo pane e profeterai ivi.	12 To Amos, Amaziah said: "Off with you, visionary, flee to the land of Judah! There earn your bread by prophesying,
13 E non t' impacciare più di profetare in Betel, però ch' è santificamento del re, ed è casa di reame.	13 but never again prophesy in Bethel; for it is the king's sanctuary and a royal temple."
14 E rispuose Amos, e disse ad Amasia: io non sono profeta, nè figliuolo di profeta; ma io sono armentario (cioè guardiano d' armenti), e diveglieva li siccomori (e faccevane legne).	14 Amos answered Amaziah, "I was no prophet, nor have I belonged to a company of prophets; I was a shepherd and a dresser of sycamores.
15 E lo Signore Iddio mi prese, quando io seguitava la greggia, e disse a me: va, e profeta al mio popolo Israel.	15 The LORD took me from following the flock, and said to me, Go, prophesy to my people Israel.
16 E ora odi la parola del Signore: tu di': non profetare sopra Israel, e non dare istimolo sopra la casa dello idolo.	16 Now hear the word of the LORD!" You say: prophesy not against Israel, preach not against the house of Isaac.
17 E però questo dice lo Signore Iddio: la tua moglie commetterà fornicazione nella città, e i figliuoli tuoi e le tue figliuole cadranno nel coltello, e la tua terra sarà misurata colla funicella; e tu in terra corrotta morrai, e Israel come prigione sarà menato della sua terra.	17 Now thus says the LORD: Your wife shall be made a harlot in the city, and your sons and daughters shall fall by the sword; Your land shall be divided by measuring line, and you yourself shall die in an unclean land; Israel shall be exiled far from its land.
