Osea 4

BIBBIA VOLGARE	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 O figliuoli d' Israel, udite la parola di Dio, però che Iddio contiene giudicio colli abitatori della terra; però che non è verità, e non è misericordia, e in terra non è sapere di Dio.	1 Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel, for the Lord shall enter into judgment with the inhabitants of the land: for there is no truth, and there is no mercy, and there is no knowledge of God in the land.
2 Loro inonderanno (e moltiplicheranno) la maledizione e la bugia e l' omicidio e lo furto e lo adulterio; e lo sangue toccherà lo sangue.	2 Cursing, and lying, and killing, and theft, and adultery have overflowed, and blood hath touched blood.
3 E però piagnerà la terra, e ogni uomo che abiterà in quella istarà infermo; e non tanto la bestia del campo e li uccelli dell' aria, ma ancora li pesci si raduneranno.	3 Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth in it shall languish with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of the air: yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be gathered together.
4 Ma non pertanto niuno giudichi, e niuno sia ripreso; però che lo tuo popolo sì è come quelli che contradicono allo sacerdote.	4 But yet let not any man judge: and let not a man be rebuked: for thy people are as they that contradict the priest.
5 E tu cadrai oggi, e anche cadrà teco lo profeta io feci tacere di notte la tua madre.	5 And thou shalt fall to day, and the prophet also shall fall with thee: in the night I have made thy mother to be silent.
6 E lo mio popolo tacè, però che non ebbe scienza; però che tu cacciasti la scienza, io ti caccerò, acciò che tu non usi lo officio del sacerdote a me; e tu hai dimenticato la legge dello tuo Iddio, e però io dimenticherò li tuoi figliuoli.	6 My people have been silent, because they had no knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will reject thee, that thou shalt not do the office of priesthood to me: and thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I also will forget thy children.
7 Egli commisono peccato contro a me secondo la loro moltitudine; e io muterò la loro gloria in (grande) vergogna.	7 According to the multitude of them so have they sinned against me: I will change their glory into shame.
8 Loro manicheranno li peccati del mio popolo, (cioè che loro ne porteranno la soma); e solleveranno le loro anime alla loro malvagitade.	8 They shall eat the sins of my people, and shall lift up their souls to their iniquity.
9 E sarà lo popolo come lo sacerdote; e visiterò sopra lui le sue vie (cioè le sue operazioni), e meriterò a lui secondo li suoi pensieri.	9 And there shall be like people like priest: and I will visit their ways upon them, and I will repay them their devices.
10 E mangeranno, e non si satolleranno; loro commisono fornicazione, e non si rimasono; però che abbandonarono Iddio, non guardandosi.	10 And they shall eat and shall not be filled: they have committed fornication, and have not ceased: because they have forsaken the Lord in not observing his law.
11 La fornicazione (cioè la lussuria) e lo vino e la ebrietà toglie lo cuore.	11 Fornication, and wine, and drunkenness take away the understanding.
12 Il mio popolo addomandò nel suo legno, e lo suo bastone annunzierà a lui; però che lo spirito delle fornicazioni ingannò loro, e commisono fornicazione allo loro Iddio.	12 My people have consulted their stocks, and their staff hath declared unto them: for the spirit of fornication hath deceived them, and they have committed fornication against their God.
13 Loro faceano li sacrificii sopra li capi dei monti, e accendeano lo incenso odorifero sopra li colli, sotto la quercia e sotto lo populo (cioè uno arboro) e sotto lo terebinto (cioè un altro arboro), però che era buona la loro ombra; e però le vostre figliuole commetteranno fornicazione, e le vostre spose faranno adulterio.	13 They offered sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burnt incense upon the hills: under the oak, and the poplar, and the turpentine tree, because the shadow thereof was good: therefore shall your daughters commit fornication, and your spouses shall be adulteresses.
14 Io non visiterò sopra le vostre figliuole, conciosia cosa che abbiano commesso fornicazione, nè sopra le vostre spose, per che abbiano fatto adulterio; però che voi stavi e usavi colle meretrici, e sacrificavate con li uomini effeminati; e lo popolo non intelligente sarà battuto.	14 I will not visit upon your daughters when they shell commit fornication, and upon your spouses when they shall commit adultery: because themselves conversed with harlots, and offered sacrifice with the effeminate, and the people that doth not understand shall be beaten.
15 Se tu, Israel, commetti fornicazione, almeno la casa di Giuda non abbandoni; e non entrate in Galgala (cioè una terra), e non iscendete in Betaven, e non giurarete: vive il Signore.	15 If thou play the harlot, O Israel, at least let not Juda offend: and go ye not into Galgal, and come not up into Bethaven, and do not swear: The Lord liveth.
16 Però che Israel sì è declinato, come la vacca lasciva; ora lo Signore gli pascerà, quasi come uno agnello in una larghezza.	16 For Israel hath gone astray like a wanton heifer: now will the Lord feed them, as a lamb in a spacious place.
17 Ed Efraim è partefice delli idoli; lasciatelo.	17 Ephraim is a partaker with idols, let him alone.
18 Però che è spartito lo loro convito, loro commisono fornicazione; e li suoi protettori amarono. molto di rapportare vergogna.	18 Their banquet is separated, they have gone astray by fornication: they that should have protected them have loved to bring shame upon them.
19 Lo spirito lo legò nelli suoi mali, e riceverà confusione dalli suoi sacrificii.	19 The wind hath bound them up in its wings, and they shall be confounded because of their sacrifices.
