Ezechiele 31

BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 E avvenne nell' undecimo anno, nel terzo mese, nel dì uno del mese; fu fatta la parola di Dio a me, e disse:	1 In the eleventh year, on the first day of the third month, the word of Yahweh was addressed to me asfol ows,
2 O figliuolo d' uomo, di' a Faraone e al suo popolo a cui se' tu assomigliato in la tua grandezza?	2 'Son of man, say to Pharaoh king of Egypt and his throng of subjects: "What can compare with you forgreatness?
3 Ecco, Assur ch' è quasi come uno cedro nello Libano, bello di rami, con foglie di bosco, eccelso per altezza, e tra le belle frondi (inalzata) è levata la sua cima.	3 I know: a cedar tree in the Lebanon with noble branches, dense foliage, lofty height. Its top pierces theclouds.
4 L'acque nutricarono quello, e lo abisso ha esaltato quello; li fiumi correano nel circuito delle sue radici, e li suoi rivi mandò a tutti i legni della contrada.	4 The waters have made it grow, the deep has made it tall, pouring its rivers round the place where it isplanted, sending rivulets to al the wild trees.
5 E però è elevata la sua altezza sopra tutti i legni di quella regione; e li suoi rampolli sono moltiplicati, e li suoi rami sono inalzati per molte acque.	5 This is why its height was greater than that of other wild trees, its branches increased in number, itsboughs stretched wide, because of the plentiful waters making it grow.
6 E quando ebbe distesa la sua ombra, ne' suoi rami feciono ivi suso tutti li uccelli i loro nidi, e sotto le sue frondi generarono tutte le bestie selvatiche, e sotto la sua ombra abitava la (sua bella) compagnia di molte genti.	6 Al the birds of heaven nested in its branches; under its boughs all wild animals dropped their young; inits shade sat many, many people.
7 Ed era bellissimo nella sua grandezza, e nel (suo) distendimento de' suoi rampolli; e la sua radice era a lato a molte acque.	7 It was beautiful in its size, in the span of its boughs; for its roots were in plentiful waters.
8 Li cedri non furono più alti di quello nel paradiso di Dio; li abeti non agguagliarono di loro altezza la sua, e li platani non furono uguali alle frondi sue; niuno legno del paradiso di Dio non fue assomigliato a quello, e alla sua bellezza.	8 There was no cedar like it in the garden of God, no cypress had branches such as these, no plane treecould match its boughs, no tree in the garden of God could rival its beauty.
9 Però ch' io lo feci bellissimo di molte e alte frondi; e tutti li legni del diletto, ch' erano nel paradiso di Dio, lo invidiavano.	9 I had made it so lovely with its many branches that it was the envy of every tree in Eden, in the gardenof God.
10 Però questo dice lo Signore: però ch' è levato in altura, e feci la sua cima verdeggiante e condensa (e alta), e lo suo cuore è inalzato nella sua altezza;	10 "Very wel , the Lord Yahweh says this: "Since it has raised itself to its ful height, has lifted its top into the clouds, and has grown arrogant about its height,
11 ora io l' hoe dato in mano di quello ch' è fortissimo tra le genti; e facendo farà a lui; secondo la sua empietade io cacciai lui.	11 I have handed it over to the prince of the nations, for him to treat as its wickedness deserves; I haverejected it.
12 E taglierannolo li strani, e li crudelissimi tra le nazioni, e gitterannolo sopra li monti; e li suoi rami caderanno in tutte le valli, e li suoi rampolli saranno (tagliati e) rotti in tutte le rupi della terra; e tutti li uomini della terra si partiranno di sotto alla sua ombra, e abbandoneranno lui.	12 Foreigners, the most barbarous of nations, have cut it down and deserted it. On the mountains, in althe val eys, lie its branches; its broken boughs are in every ravine throughout the country; everybody in thecountry has fled its shade and deserted it.
13 Tutti li ucceili del cielo abitarono nella sua rovina, e tutte le bestie (della terra e) della contrada furono ne' suoi rami.	13 On its wreckage perch al the birds of heaven; all the wild animals have advanced on its branches.
14 Per la qual cosa tutti i legni dell' acque non s' inalzeranno nella sua altezza, e non porranno la loro altezza tra le cose del bosco e tra le cose di foglie; e non istaranno nella loro altezza tutti quelli legni che si bagnano con acqua; però che tutti sono dati alla morte all' ultima terra, nel mezzo de' figliuoli delli uomini, a quelli che discendono nello lago, (cioè nello inferno).	14 "So in future let no tree rear its height beside the waters, none push its top into the clouds, nowatered tree stretch its height towards them. For al of them are doomed to death, to the depths of theunderworld, with the common run of humanity, with those who sink into oblivion.
15 Questo dice lo Signore Iddio: nel dì ch' egli iscese allo inferno, vi misi pianto, e copersilo di abisso, e vietai li suoi fiumi, e constrinsi molte acque; (cioè ch' io feci che non ebbe acque, e non vidde. fiumi); lo Libano fue contristato sopra lui, e tutti li legni del campo vi furono percossi.	15 "The Lord Yahweh says this: The day it went down to Sheol, I imposed mourning, I closed the deepover it. I stopped its rivers and the plentiful waters dried up; I made Lebanon dark because of it, and al the wildtrees wilted because of it.
16 Per lo suono della sua ruina egli commoveo le genti, quando lo menava allo inferno con quelli che discendeano nello lago; e furono consolati in terra tutti li bassi legni del diletto gentili e chiari nello Libano, tutti quelli che si bagnavano coll'acque.	16 With the noise when it fel I made the nations quake, as I hurled it down to Sheol, with those who sinkinto oblivion. In the depths of the underworld al the trees of Eden took comfort, the pick of the loveliest trees ofthe Lebanon, al irrigated by the waters.
17 Però ch' egli anche discenderanno nello inferno con lui alli morti di coltello; e lo braccio di ciascuno starà sotto la sua ombra nel mezzo delle (sue) nazioni.	17 And its offspring among the nations, once living in its shade, went down to Sheol with it, to those whohave been slaughtered by the sword.
18 O alto e gentile, a cui se' tu assomigliato tra li legni del diletto? Ecco, che tu sei menato e posto colli legni della dilettanza all' ultima terra; tu dormirai nel mezzo delli incirconcisi, con quelli che sono morti di coltello; questo è Faraone e tutta la sua moltitudine, dice lo Signore Iddio.	18 "Which of the trees of Eden compares with you for glory and greatness? Yet you have been hurleddown with the trees of Eden, to the depths of the underworld, among the uncircumcised, and there you lie withthose who have been slaughtered by the sword. So much for Pharaoh and al his throng -- declares the LordYahweh." '
