Ieremia 21

BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Lo detto lo quale disse Iddio a Ieremia, quando mandò a lui lo re Sedecia (per) Fassur figliuolo di Melchia, e Sofonia figliuolo di Maasia sacerdote, dicente:	1 The word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh when King Zedekiah sent Pashhur son of Malchiah tohim, with the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah, to say this,
2 Addomanda per noi lo Signore, però che Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia, combatte contro a noi; se forse Iddio facesse a noi secondo le sue grandi misericordie, e partasi da noi.	2 'Please consult Yahweh for us, since Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon is making war on us: perhapsYahweh wil work one of his many miracles for us and force him to withdraw.'
3 E disse Ieremia a loro: direte così a Sedecia :	3 Jeremiah said to them, 'Take this answer to Zedekiah,
4 Questo dice lo Signore Iddio d'Israel: ecco io convertirò le vasa della battaglia, le quali sono nelle vostre mani, e con le quali voi combattete contro a (loro e) lo re di Babilonia e contro alli Caldei i quali assediano voi nel circuito de' muri; e radunarolli nel mezzo di questa cittade.	4 "Yahweh, God of Israel, says this: I shal bring back the weapons of war which you are now carrying,and with which you are fighting the king of Babylon and the Chaldaeans now besieging you; from outside thewal s, I shal stack them in the centre of this city.
5 E combatterò io (con) voi con mano distesa e con braccio forte e con indegnazione e con grande ira.	5 And I shal fight against you myself with outstretched hand and mighty arm, in anger, fury and greatwrath.
6 E percoterò li abitatori di questa città; (cioè) li uomini e le bestie morranno con grande pestilenza.	6 I shal strike down the inhabitants of this city, human and animal; they will die of a great plague.
7 E dopo questo, dice Iddio, darò Sedecia re di Giuda e' suoi servi e lo suo populo, e quelli che sono abbandonati in questa cittade di pestilenza e di coltello e di fame, in mano di Nabucodonosor re di Babilonia, e in mano de' loro inimici, e in mano di quelli che addomandano l' animo loro; e percoterannoli con bocca di coltello, e non si moverà e non perdonerà nè averà misericordia.	7 Then, Yahweh declares, I shall deliver Zedekiah king of Judah, his officials, the people and those ofthis city who have escaped the plague, the sword, or the famine, into the clutches of Nebuchadnezzar king ofBabylon, into the clutches of their enemies and into the clutches of those determined to kill them; mercilessly,relentlessly, pitilessly, he wil put them to the sword."
8 E a questo populo dirai: questo dice Iddio: ecco io doe innanzi a voi la via [della vita e la via] della morte.	8 'And you must say to this people, "Yahweh says this: Look, I offer you a choice between the way of lifeand the way of death.
9 Chiunque abiterà in questa terra morrà di coltello e di fame e di pestilenza; e chiunque sarà uscito, e averà fuggito li Caldei i quali assediano voi, viverà, e sarà l'anima [sua] quasi come lo spoglio, (quando l'uomo si trae una roba, e rimane senza essa).	9 Anyone who stays in this city wil die by sword, by famine, or by plague; but anyone who leaves it andsurrenders to the Chaldaeans now besieging you will live; he wil escape with his life.
10 Io ho posto la mia faccia sopra questa cittade in male, e non in bene, dice Iddio; sarà data in mano dello re di Babilonia, e arderalla al fuoco.	10 For I am determined on disaster, and not prosperity, for this city, Yahweh declares. It wil be handedover to the king of Babylon, and he wil burn it down." '
11 ....	11 To the royal House of Judah. Listen to the word of Yahweh,
12 ... questo dice Iddio: giudicate la mattina lo giudicio, e difendete l' uomo per forza stretto dalla mano del calunniante, acciò che forse non esca la mia indignazione, e accendasi, e non sia chi la spenga, per la malizia de' vostri istudii.	12 House of David! Yahweh says this: Each morning give fair judgement, rescue anyone who has beenwronged from the hands of his oppressor, or else my wrath will leap out like a fire, it wil burn and no one will beable to quench it, because of the wickedness of your actions.
13 Ecco, io a te abitatrice della salda valle e della campestre, dice Iddio: o per che dite: che ci percoterà? e chi entrerà nelle nostre case?	13 My quarrel is with you, resident of the val ey, Rock-in-the-Plain, Yahweh declares, with you that say,'Who would dare attack us and enter our lairs?'
14 E io visiterò sopra voi secondo lo frutto delli vostri studii, dice Iddio, e accenderò lo fuoco nel suo assalto; e divorerà tutto nel suo circuito.	14 I shal punish you as your actions deserve, Yahweh declares, I shal set fire to its forest and it willdevour all around it.
