Salmi 17

1 In fine al servo del Signore David, il qual ha parlato al Signore le parole di questo cantico, nel dì nel qual il Signore il liberò delle mani delli suoi inimici, e della mano di Saul.	1 Unto the end. For David, the servant of the Lord, who spoke the words of this canticle to the Lord, in the day that the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. And he said:
2 Amarò te, Signore, mia fortezza;	2 I will love you, O Lord my strength.
3 Signore, mio firmamento, e rifugio mio, e liberatore mio; Dio mio, aiutator mio; e in lui spererò. Egli è mio difensore, e potenza della mia salute, e mio ricevitore.	3 The Lord is my firmament, my refuge, and my liberator. My God is my helper, and I hope in him: my protector, and the horn of my salvation, and my support.
4 Laudante invocherò il Signore; e sarò salvo da' miei inimici.	4 Praising, I will call upon the Lord. And I will be saved from my enemies.
5 (Perchè) mi hanno circondato i dolori della morte; e gli fiumi della iniquità mi hanno conturbato.	5 The sorrows of death surrounded me, and the torrents of iniquity dismayed me.
6 I dolori dell' inferno mi hanno circondato; li lacci della morte mi hanno compreso.	6 The sorrows of Hell encompassed me, and the snares of death intercepted me.
7 Nella mia tribulazione invocai il Signore, e gridai al mio Dio. Ed esauditte la mia voce dal tempio santo suo; e il mio grido, fatto nel suo cospetto, entrò nelle sue orecchie.	7 In my tribulation, I called upon the Lord, and I cried out to my God. And he listened to my voice from his holy temple. And my cry in his presence entered into his ears.
8 Commossa è la terra, e tremò; conturboronsi i fondamenti de' monti, e si movettero, perchè il Signore è adirato contro di loro.	8 The earth was shaken, and it trembled. The foundations of the mountains were disturbed, and they were shaken, because he was angry with them.
9 Salitte il fumo nell' ira sua, e il fuoco ardette dalla sua faccia; da lui furono inflammati i carboni.	9 A smoke ascended by his wrath, and a fire flared up from his face: coals were kindled by it.
10 Inclinò i cieli, e discese; e la oscurità fu sotto i suoi piedi.	10 He bent the heavens, and they descended. And darkness was under his feet.
11 E ascese sopra i cherubini, e volò; vold sopra le penne de' venti.	11 And he ascended upon the cherubim, and he flew: he flew upon the feathers of the winds.
12 E puose le tenebre per suo secreto; nel suo circuito è il suo tabernacolo; la tenebrosa acqua è nelle nubi dell' aere.	12 And he set darkness as his hiding place, with his tabernacle all around him: dark waters in the clouds of the air.
13 Più che fulgore nel suo cospetto passorono le nubi, la tempesta e i carboni del fuoco.	13 At the brightness that was before his sight, the clouds crossed by, with hail and coals of fire.
14 E il Signor intonò dal cielo, e l' Altissimo dette la sua voce; venne la tempesta e i carboni del fuoco.	14 And the Lord thundered from heaven, and the Most High uttered his voice: hail and coals of fire.
15 E mandò le sue sagitte, e dissipò quelli; moltiplicò i fùlgori, e conturbolli.	15 And he sent forth his arrows and scattered them. He multiplied lightnings, and he set them in disarray.
16 E apparsero i fonti delle acque, e sono manifestati i fondamenti del circuito delle terre, Signore (queste sono), dalla tua reprensione, dalla inspirazione del spirito della tua ira.	16 Then the fountains of waters appeared, and the foundations of the world were revealed, by your rebuke, O Lord, by the inspiration of the Spirit of your wrath.
17 Mandò dall' alto, e tolsemi; levò me di molte acque.	17 He sent from on high, and he accepted me. And he took me up, out of many waters.
18 Mi liberò da' miei fortissimi inimici, e da quelli che mi hanno avuto in odio; perchè sopra di me sono confortati.	18 He rescued me from my strongest enemies, and from those who hated me. For they had been too strong for me.
19 Inanzi a me vennero nel dì della mia afflizione; ma il Signore è fatto mio difensore.	19 They intercepted me in the day of my affliction, and the Lord became my protector.
20 E condussemi nella larghezza (della carità); fece me salvo, perchè mi ha vogliuto.	20 And he led me out, into a wide place. He accomplished my salvation, because he willed me.
21 E a me retribuirà il Signore secondo la mia giustizia; e secondo la purità delle [mie] mani a me renderà.	21 And the Lord will reward me according to my justice, and he will repay me according to the purity of my hands.
22 Però [che] ho guardato le vie del Signore, e non ho fatto cosa empia al Dio mio.	22 For I have preserved the ways of the Lord, and I have not behaved impiously before my God.
23 Perchè tutti gli suoi giudicii sono nel mio conspetto; e le sue giustizie non ho gittate da me.	23 For all his judgments are in my sight, and his justice, I have not pushed away from me.
24 E sarò con lui senza macula; e guardarommi dalla mia iniquità.	24 And I will be immaculate together with him, and I will keep myself from my iniquity.
25 E renderà a me il Signore secondo la mia giustizia, e secondo la purità delle mie mani nel conspetto de' suoi occhii.	25 And the Lord will reward me according to my justice and according to the purity of my hands before his eyes.
26 Con il santo sarai santo, e con l' uomo innocente sarai innocente.	26 With the holy, you will be holy, and with the innocent, you will be innocent,
27 E con lo eletto sarai eletto, e con lo perverso sarai più perverso.	27 and with the elect, you will be elect, and with the perverse, you will be perverse.
28 Perchè tu salverai il popolo umile, e umiliarai gli occhii delli superbi.	28 For you will save the humble people, but you will bring down the eyes of the arrogant.
29 Perchè tu, Signore, illumini la mia lucerna; Dio mio, illumina le mie tenebre.	29 For you illuminate my lamp, O Lord. My God, enlighten my darkness.
30 Perchè in te sarò liberato dalla tentazione, e nel mio Dio trapasserò il muro.	30 For in you, I will be delivered from temptation; and with my God, I will climb over a wall.
31 Dio mio, monda è la sua via; i parlari del Signore sono esaminati col fuoco; egli è difensore di. tutti i speranti in sè.	31 As for my God, his way is undefiled. The eloquence of the Lord has been examined by fire. He is the protector of all who hope in him.
32 Imperò [che] chi è Dio, salvo il Signore? ovver chi è Dio, salvo il nostro Dio?	32 For who is God, except the Lord? And who is God, except our God?
33 Egli è quel Dio, che mi ha cinto di virtude, e ha posta la mia via immacolata.	33 It is God who has wrapped me with virtue and made my way immaculate.
34 Egli ha posto i miei piedi come di cervi, ordinando me sopra gli eccelsi.	34 It is he who has perfected my feet, like the feet of deer, and who stations me upon the heights.
35 Il qual ammaestra le mie mani alla battaglia; e ha posto le mie braccia, come arco di ferro.	35 It is he who trains my hands for battle. And you have set my arms like a bow of brass.
36 Tu mi hai dato la defensione della tua salute; e la tua destra mi ha ricevuto. E la tua disciplina nella fine mi ha corretto; e la tua disciplina, quella mi insegnerà.	36 And you have given me the protection of your salvation. And your right hand sustains me. And your discipline has corrected me unto the end. And your discipline itself will teach me.
37 Tu hai dilatati sotto di me i miei andari; e le mie vestigie non sono infirmate.	37 You have expanded my footsteps under me, and my tracks have not been weakened.
38 Perseguiterò gli miei inimici, e piglierolli; none staranno, insino che saranno venuti a meno.	38 I will pursue my enemies and apprehend them. And I will not turn back until they have failed.
39 Appezzarolli, e non potranno stare; caderanno sotto i miei piedi.	39 I will break them, and they will not be able to stand. They will fall under my feet.
40 E ha'mi cinto di virtù a combattere; e hai posto sotto di me gli miei contradicenti.	40 And you have wrapped me with virtue for the battle. And those rising up against me, you have subdued under me.
41 E dopo le mie spalle hai dato gli miei inimici, e distrutto coloro che mi hanno in odio.	41 And you have given the back of my enemies to me, and you have destroyed those who hated me.
42 Gridorono, e non era cui gli facesse salvi; e al Signore chiamorono, e non gli esaudì.	42 They cried out, but there was none to save them, to the Lord, but he did not heed them.
43 Disfarolli come polvere dinanzi alla faccia del vento; gitterolli come luto delle piazze.	43 And I will crush them into dust before the face of the wind, so that I will obliterate them like the mud in the streets.
44 Tu mi libererai della contradizione del popolo; ordinera'mi nel capo delle genti.	44 You will rescue me from the contradictions of the people. You will set me at the head of the Gentiles.
45 Il popolo, ch' io non conobbi, mi ha servito; nell' udire della orecchia mi ha obbedito.	45 A people I did not know has served me. As soon as their ears heard, they were obedient to me.
46 Hannomi mentito i figliuoli estranei; gli figliuoli estranei sono invecchiati, e hanno zoppicato [dalle] loro vie.	46 The sons of foreigners have been deceitful to me, the sons of foreigners have grown weak with time, and they have wavered from their paths.
47 Vive il Signore, e benedetto il mio Dio, e sia esaltato il Dio della mia salute.	47 The Lord lives, and blessed is my God, and may the God of my salvation be exalted:
48 Dio, il quale a me dài la vendetta, e sottoponi i popoli sotto di me, liberatore mio delli miei irati inimici.	48 O God, who vindicates me and who subdues the people under me, my liberator from my enraged enemies.
49 Ed esaltera'mi dalli levanti contra di me; e liberara'mi dall' uomo iniquo.	49 And you will exalt me above those who rise up against me. From the iniquitous man, you will rescue me.
50 Però, Signore, a te confesserò nelle nazioni; e dirò al tuo nome la laude,	50 Because of this, O Lord, I will confess to you among the nations, and I will compose a psalm to your name:
51 magnificante le saluti al suo re, e facente la misericordia al suo cristo David, e al suo seme insino IN SECULA.	51 magnifying the salvation of his king, and showing mercy to David, his Christ, and to his offspring, even for all time.
