BIBBIA VOLGARE	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Ed ecco, ogni cosa vidde l'occhio mio, e udio l'orecchio mio, e intesi ogni cosa.	1 Behold my eye hath seen all these things, and my ear hath heard them, and I have understood them all.
2 Secondo la vostra scienza e io conobbi, e non sono da meno di voi.	2 According to your knowledge I also know: neither am I inferior to you.
3 Ma pure all' Onnipotente favelleroe, e disputare con Dio desidero;	3 But yet I will speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God.
4 in prima mostrando che voi siete fabbricatori della bugia, e amatori delle perverse sentenze.	4 Having first shewn that you are forgers of lies, and maintainers of perverse opinions.
5 E Iddio il volesse, che voi foste taciuti, acciò che voi foste tenuti savii.	5 And I wish you would hold your peace, that you might be thought to be wise men..
6 Adunque udite le mie correzioni, e al giudicio delli miei labbri intendete.	6 Hear ye therefore my reproof, and attend to the judgment of my lips.
7 Or ha bisogno Iddio della vostra bugia, acciò che per lui favelliate inganno?	7 Hath God any need of your lie, that you should speak deceitfully for him?
8 Or desiderate voi la faccia sua, e per Dio vi sforzate giudicare?	8 Do you accept his person, and do you endeavour to judge for God?
9 Ovvero piacerà a lui, il quale celare niuna cosa puote? Ovvero sarae ingannato, sì come l'uomo, colle vostre fraudi?	9 Or shall it please him, from whom nothing can be concealed ? or shall he be deceived as a man, with your deceitful dealings ?
10 Elli reprenderà voi, perciò che nascosamente la faccia sua ricevete.	10 He shall reprove you, because in secret you accept his person.
11 Incontanente che si muoverà, turberà voi, e la paura sua rovinerae sopra voi.	11 As soon as he shall move himself, he shall trouble you: and his dread shall fall upon you.
12 La vostra memoria s'assomiglierae alla cenere, e ritorneranno in luto li capi vostri.	12 Your remembrance shall be compared to ashes, and your necks shall be brought to clay.
13 Tacete uno poco, acciò ch' io favelli qualunque cosa la mente rapporterà a me.	13 Hold your peace a little while, that I may speak whatsoever my mind shall suggest to me.
14 Perchè lacero io le carni mie colli denti miei, e l'anima mia porto nelle mani mie?	14 Why do I tear my flesh with my teeth, and carry my soul in my hands?
15 Ancora s' elli ucciderà me, in lui spererò; ma pure le vie mie nel cospetto suo riprenderò.	15 Although he should bill me, I will trust in him: but yet I will reprove my ways in his sight.
16 Ed elli sarae lo mio Salvatore; e in veritade ogni ipocrita non verrà dinanzi a lui.	16 And he shall be my saviour: for no hypocrite shall come before his presence.
17 Udite la parola mia, e li miei parlari oscuri ricevete colle orecchie vostre.	17 Hear ye my speech, and receive with Sour ears hidden truths.
18 S' io sarò giudicato, so che giusto sarò trovato.	18 If I shall be judged, I know that I shall be found just.
19 Chi è colui il quale sia giudicato meco? venga; perchè tacendo mi consumo (nella mente)?	19 Who is he that will plead against me? let him come: why am I consumed holding my peace?
20 Due cose non mi fare, e allora della faccia tua non mi nasconderò.	20 Two things only do not to me, and then from thy face I shall not be hid:
21 La tua mano fa di lungi da me, e la paura tua non mi spaventi.	21 Withdraw thy hand far from me, and let not thy dread terrify me.
22 E chiama me, e io risponderò a te; ovvero certo io favelleroe, e tu risponderai a me.	22 Call me, and I will answer thee: or else I will speak, and do thou answer me.
23 Quante iniquitadi ho io e quanti peccati, le fellonie mie e peccati mostra a me.	23 How many are my iniquities and sins? make me know my crimes and offences.
24 Perchè nascondi tu la faccia tua, e pensi tu me esser tuo nemico?	24 Why hidest thou thy face, and thinkest me thy enemy?
25 Contro la foglia, che si tolle dal vento, mostri la tua potenza; e la paglia secca persèguiti.	25 Against a leaf, that is carried away with the wind, thou shewest thy power, and thou pursuest a dry straw.
26 Certo tu scrivi contro a me la amaritudine, e vogli consumare me per li peccati della mia fanciullezza.	26 For thou writest bitter things against me, and wilt consume me for the sins of my youth.
27 Tu ponesti nel nervo lo mio piede, e osservasti tutte le mie vie, e le vestigie de' miei piedi considerasti.	27 Thou hast put my feet in the stocks, and hast observed all my paths, and hast considered the steps of my feet:
28 Il quale sono da essere consumato come puzza, e sì come vestimento mangiato dalla tignuola.	28 Who am to be consumed as rottenness, and as a garment that is moth-eaten.
