Vaikrà (ויקרא) - Levitico 17

1 וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֶל־מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר	1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:
2 דַּבֵּר אֶל־אַהֲרֹן וְאֶל־בָּנָיו וְאֶל כָּל־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאָמַרְתָּ אֲלֵיהֶם זֶה הַדָּבָר אֲשֶׁר־צִוָּה יְהוָה לֵאמֹר	2 'Speak to Aaron and his sons and al the Israelites and say: "This is the order that Yahweh has given:
3 אִישׁ אִישׁ מִבֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל אֲשֶׁר יִשְׁחַט שֹׁור אֹו־כֶשֶׂב אֹו־עֵז בַּמַּחֲנֶה אֹו אֲשֶׁר יִשְׁחַט מִחוּץ לַמַּחֲנֶה	3 "Any man of the House of Israel who slaughters a bull, lamb or goat, whether inside the camp oroutside it,
4 וְאֶל־פֶּתַח אֹהֶל מֹועֵד לֹא הֱבִיאֹו לְהַקְרִיב קָרְבָּן לַיהוָה לִפְנֵי מִשְׁכַּן יְהוָה דָּם יֵחָשֵׁב לָאִישׁ הַהוּא דָּם שָׁפָךְ וְנִכְרַת הָאִישׁ הַהוּא מִקֶּרֶב עַמֹּו	4 without bringing it to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting to make an offering of it to Yahweh in front ofhis Dwel ing, that man wil be answerable for bloodshed; he has shed blood, and that man wil be outlawed fromhis people.
5 לְמַעַן אֲשֶׁר יָבִיאוּ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת־זִבְחֵיהֶם אֲשֶׁר הֵם זֹבְחִים עַל־פְּנֵי הַשָּׂדֶה וֶהֱבִיאֻם לַיהוָה אֶל־פֶּתַח אֹהֶל מֹועֵד אֶל־הַכֹּהֵן וְזָבְחוּ זִבְחֵי שְׁלָמִים לַיהוָה אֹותָם	5 The purpose of this is that the Israelites should instead bring their sacrifices, which they wouldotherwise offer in the countryside, to Yahweh at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, to the priest, and offer themas communion sacrifices to Yahweh;
6 וְזָרַק הַכֹּהֵן אֶת־הַדָּם עַל־מִזְבַּח יְהוָה פֶּתַח אֹהֶל מֹועֵד וְהִקְטִיר הַחֵלֶב לְרֵיחַ נִיחֹחַ לַיהוָה	6 and the priest wil sprinkle the blood on Yahweh's altar at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting and willburn the fat as a smel pleasing to Yahweh.
7 וְלֹא־יִזְבְּחוּ עֹוד אֶת־זִבְחֵיהֶם לַשְּׂעִירִם אֲשֶׁר הֵם זֹנִים אַחֲרֵיהֶם חֻקַּת עֹולָם תִּהְיֶה־זֹּאת לָהֶם לְדֹרֹתָם	7 No longer may they offer their sacrifices to the satyrs in whose service they used to prostitutethemselves. This is a perpetual law for them and for their descendants."
8 וַאֲלֵהֶם תֹּאמַר אִישׁ אִישׁ מִבֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל וּמִן־הַגֵּר אֲשֶׁר־יָגוּר בְּתֹוכָם אֲשֶׁר־יַעֲלֶה עֹלָה אֹו־זָבַח	8 'You will also say to them, "Any member of the House of Israel or any resident alien who offers a burntoffering or sacrifice
9 וְאֶל־פֶּתַח אֹהֶל מֹועֵד לֹא יְבִיאֶנּוּ לַעֲשֹׂות אֹתֹו לַיהוָה וְנִכְרַת הָאִישׁ הַהוּא מֵעַמָּיו	9 without bringing it to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting to offer it to Yahweh, will be outlawed from hispeople.
10 וְאִישׁ אִישׁ מִבֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל וּמִן־הַגֵּר הַגָּר בְּתֹוכָם אֲשֶׁר יֹאכַל כָּל־דָּם וְנָתַתִּי פָנַי בַּנֶּפֶשׁ הָאֹכֶלֶת אֶת־הַדָּם וְהִכְרַתִּי אֹתָהּ מִקֶּרֶב עַמָּהּ	10 "If any member of the House of Israel or any resident alien consumes blood of any kind, I shal set myface against that individual who consumes blood and shal outlaw him from his people.
11 כִּי נֶפֶשׁ הַבָּשָׂר בַּדָּם הִוא וַאֲנִי נְתַתִּיו לָכֶם עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּחַ לְכַפֵּר עַל־נַפְשֹׁתֵיכֶם כִּי־הַדָּם הוּא בַּנֶּפֶשׁ יְכַפֵּר	11 For the life of the creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you for performing the rite of expiationon the altar for your lives, for blood is what expiates for a life.
12 עַל־כֵּן אָמַרְתִּי לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל כָּל־נֶפֶשׁ מִכֶּם לֹא־תֹאכַל דָּם וְהַגֵּר הַגָּר בְּתֹוכְכֶם לֹא־יֹאכַל דָּם׃ ס	12 That is why I told the Israelites: None of you wil consume blood, nor wil any resident alien consumeblood.
13 וְאִישׁ אִישׁ מִבְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וּמִן־הַגֵּר הַגָּר בְּתֹוכָם אֲשֶׁר יָצוּד צֵיד חַיָּה אֹו־עֹוף אֲשֶׁר יֵאָכֵל וְשָׁפַךְ אֶת־דָּמֹו וְכִסָּהוּ בֶּעָפָר	13 "Anyone, whether Israelite or resident alien, who hunts and catches game, whether animal or bird,which it is lawful to eat, must pour out its blood and cover it with earth.
14 כִּי־נֶפֶשׁ כָּל־בָּשָׂר דָּמֹו בְנַפְשֹׁו הוּא וָאֹמַר לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל דַּם כָּל־בָּשָׂר לֹא תֹאכֵלוּ כִּי נֶפֶשׁ כָּל־בָּשָׂר דָּמֹו הִוא כָּל־אֹכְלָיו יִכָּרֵת	14 For the life of every creature is its blood, and I have told the Israelites: You wil not consume theblood of any creature, for the life of every creature is its blood, and anyone who consumes it wil be outlawed.
15 וְכָל־נֶפֶשׁ אֲשֶׁר תֹּאכַל נְבֵלָה וּטְרֵפָה בָּאֶזְרָח וּבַגֵּר וְכִבֶּס בְּגָדָיו וְרָחַץ בַּמַּיִם וְטָמֵא עַד־הָעֶרֶב וְטָהֵר	15 "Anyone, citizen or alien, who eats an animal that has died a natural death or been savaged, mustwash clothing and body, and wil be unclean until evening, but wil then be clean.
16 וְאִם לֹא יְכַבֵּס וּבְשָׂרֹו לֹא יִרְחָץ וְנָשָׂא עֲוֹנֹו׃ פ	16 But anyone who does not wash clothing and body wil bear the consequences of his guilt." '
