SMITH VAN DYKE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 وتشدد سليمان بن داود على مملكته وكان الرب الهه معه وعظّمه جدا.	1 Solomon son of David then made himself secure over his kingdom. Yahweh his God was with him,making him more and more powerful.
2 وكلم سليمان جميع اسرائيل رؤساء الالوف والمئات والقضاة وكل رئيس في كل اسرائيل رؤوس الآباء	2 Solomon then spoke to al Israel, to the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, to the judges andto every leader in all Israel, the heads of families.
3 فذهب سليمان وكل الجماعة معه الى المرتفعة التي في جبعون لانه هناك كانت خيمة الاجتماع خيمة الله التي عملها موسى عبد الرب في البرية.	3 Solomon, and the whole assembly with him, then went to the high place at Gibeon, where God's Tentof Meeting was, which Moses, servant of God, had made in the desert.
4 واما تابوت الله فاصعده داود من قرية يعاريم عندما هيّأ له داود لانه نصب له خيمة في اورشليم.	4 The ark of the covenant, however, David had brought from Kiriath-Jearim to the place which he hadprepared for it, having pitched a tent for it in Jerusalem.
5 ومذبح النحاس الذي عمله بصلئيل بن اوري بن حور وضعه امام مسكن الرب وطلب اليه سليمان والجماعة.	5 The bronze altar which Bezalel son of Uri, son of Hur, had made was there, in front of Yahweh'sDwelling, where Solomon and the assembly consulted him.
6 واصعد سليمان هناك على مذبح النحاس امام الرب الذي كان في خيمة الاجتماع. اصعد عليه الف محرقة	6 There Solomon presented a burnt offering before Yahweh on the bronze altar of the Tent of Meeting,making on it one thousand burnt offerings.
7 في تلك الليلة تراءى الله لسليمان وقال له اسأل ماذا اعطيك.	7 That night God appeared to Solomon and said, 'Ask what you would like me to give you.'
8 فقال سليمان لله انك قد فعلت مع داود ابي رحمة عظيمة وملكتني مكانه.	8 Solomon replied to God, 'You showed most faithful love to David my father, and you have made meking in succession to him.
9 فالآن ايها الرب الاله ليثبت كلامك مع داود ابي لانك قد ملّكتني على شعب كثير كتراب الارض.	9 Yahweh God, the promise you made to David my father has now been fulfil ed, since you have mademe king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth.
10 فاعطني الآن حكمة ومعرفة لاخرج امام هذا الشعب وادخل لانه من يقدر ان يحكم على شعبك هذا العظيم.	10 Therefore give me wisdom and knowledge to act as leader of this people, for how otherwise couldsuch a great people as yours be governed?'
11 فقال الله لسليمان من اجل ان هذا كان في قلبك ولم تسأل غنى ولا اموالا ولا كرامة ولا انفس مبغضيك ولا سألت اياما كثيرة بل انما سألت لنفسك حكمة ومعرفة تحكم بهما على شعبي الذي ملكتك عليه	11 'Since that is what you want,' God said to Solomon, 'since you have asked, not for riches, treasure,honour, the lives of your enemies, or even for a long life, but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people ofwhom I have made you king,
12 قد اعطيتك حكمة ومعرفة واعطيتك غنى واموالا وكرامة لم يكن مثلها للملوك الذين قبلك ولا يكون مثلها لمن بعدك	12 therefore wisdom and knowledge are granted you. I give you riches too, and treasure, and honoursuch as no king had before you and none will have after you.'
13 فجاء سليمان من المرتفعة التي في جبعون الى اورشليم من امام خيمة الاجتماع وملك على اسرائيل.	13 So Solomon came away from the high place at Gibeon, from the Tent of Meeting, to Jerusalem andreigned over Israel.
14 وجمع سليمان مركبات وفرسانا فكان له الف واربع مئة مركبة واثنا عشر الف فارس فجعلها في مدن المركبات ومع الملك في اورشليم.	14 Solomon then built up a force of chariots and cavalry; he had one thousand four hundred chariots andtwelve thousand horses; these he kept in the chariot towns and near the king at Jerusalem.
15 وجعل الملك الفضة والذهب في اورشليم مثل الحجارة وجعل الارز كالجميز الذي في السهل في الكثرة.	15 In Jerusalem the king made silver and gold as common as stones, and cedar wood as plentiful assycamore in the lowlands.
16 وكان مخرج الخيل التي لسليمان من مصر. وجماعة تجار الملك اخذوا جليبة بثمن	16 Solomon's horses were imported from Muzur and Cilicia. The king's dealers acquired them in Cilicia atthe prevailing price.
17 فاصعدوا واخرجوا من مصر المركبة بست مئة شاقل من الفضة والفرس بمئة وخمسين وهكذا لجميع ملوك الحثيين وملوك ارام كانوا يخرجون عن يدهم	17 A chariot was imported from Egypt for six hundred silver shekels and a horse from Cilicia for ahundred and fifty. They also supplied the Hittite and Aramaean kings, who al used them as middlemen.
	18 Solomon then gave the order to build a house for the name of Yahweh and a palace in which to reign.
