1 Josafá, rei de Judá, retornou são e salvo a Jerusalém.	1 King Jehoshaphat of Judah returned in safety to his house in Jerusalem.
2 Jeú, filho do vidente Hanani, saiu-lhe ao encontro e lhe disse: Deve-se levar auxílio ao ímpio? Amas tu os que odeiam o Senhor? O Senhor está irritado contra ti.	2 Jehu the seer, son of Hanani, met King Jehoshaphat and said to him: "Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the LORD? For this reason, wrath is upon you from the LORD.
3 Todavia, há em ti coisas boas, pois suprimiste da terra os ídolos asserás e aplicaste teu coração à busca de Deus.	3 Yet some good things are to be found in you, since you have removed the sacred poles from the land and have been determined to seek God."
4 Depois de sua volta a Jerusalém, Josafá saiu de novo a visitar seu povo, desde Bersabé até a montanha de Efraim, para conduzi-lo ao Senhor, Deus de seus pais.	4 Jehoshaphat dwelt in Jerusalem; but he went out again among the people from Beer-sheba to the highlands of Ephraim and brought them back to the LORD, the God of their fathers.
5 Estabeleceu juízes na terra, em cada uma das cidades fortes, sem exceção.	5 He appointed judges in the land, in all the fortified cities of Judah, city by city,
6 Vede o que fareis, disse ele aos juízes. Não é em nome de um homem que administrais a justiça, mas em nome do Senhor, que vos assistirá quando tiverdes de fazer os vossos julgamentos.	6 and he said to them: "Take care what you do, for you are judging, not on behalf of man, but on behalf of the LORD; he judges with you.
7 Que o temor a Deus esteja conosco. Vigiai o vosso procedimento, pois, junto do Senhor, nosso Deus, não há iniqüidade, nem distinção de pessoa, nem admissão de presentes.	7 And now, let the fear of the LORD be upon you. Act carefully, for with the LORD, our God there is no injustice, no partiality, no bribe-taking."
8 Também em Jerusalém, Josafá tinha estabelecido levitas e sacerdotes voltados à cidade para administrar a justiça em nome do Senhor e para serem árbitros nos litígios.	8 In Jerusalem also, Jehoshaphat appointed some Levites and priests and some of the family heads of Israel to judge in the name of the LORD and to settle quarrels among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
9 Ele lhes deu as seguintes instruções: Eis como agireis, com temor ao Senhor, lealdade e integridade de coração.	9 He gave them this command: "You shall act faithfully and wholeheartedly in the fear of the LORD.
10 Em todo litígio trazido à vossa presença por vossos irmãos, estabelecidos em vossas cidades, quer se trate de assassínio, de lei, de preceito ou ordenações esclarecei-os, para que não se tornem culpados diante do Senhor, e que sua ira não se inflame contra vós e contra vossos irmãos. Agi dessa maneira para não vos tornardes culpados.	10 And in every dispute that your brethren living in their cities bring to you, whether it concerns bloodguilt or questions of law, command, statutes, or judgments, warn them lest they become guilty before the LORD and his wrath come upon you and your brethren. Do that and you shall be guiltless.
11 Tendes à vossa frente o sumo sacerdote Amarias, para todos os assuntos religiosos, e Zabadias, filho de Ismael, príncipe da casa de Judá, para todos os negócios civis. Tereis à vossa disposição levitas, na qualidade de escribas. Cobrai ânimo, portanto, e ao trabalho! Esteja o Senhor com o homem de bem!	11 See now, Amariah is high priest over you in everything that pertains to the LORD, and Zebadiah, son of Ishmael, is leader of the house of Judah in all that pertains to the king; and the Levites will be your officials. Act firmly, and the LORD will be with the good."
