Prima lettera di Giovanni 2

LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Figli miei, io vi scrivo queste cose affinché voi non pecchiate. Ma se qualcuno pecca, noi abbiamo come intercessore presso il Padre Gesù Cristo, che è giusto.	1 My children, I am writing this to prevent you from sinning; but if anyone does sin, we have an advocatewith the Father, Jesus Christ, the upright.
2 Egli è la propiziazione per i nostri peccati e non solo per i nostri, ma anche per quelli di tutto il mondo.	2 He is the sacrifice to expiate our sins, and not only ours, but also those of the whole world.
3 Da questo noi sappiamo di conoscerlo: se osserviamo i suoi comandamenti.	3 In this way we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 Chi dice: "Lo conosco", ma non osserva i suoi comandamenti, è un mentitore e la verità non è in lui.	4 Whoever says, 'I know him' without keeping his commandments, is a liar, and truth has no place in him.
5 Invece se osserva la sua parola, veramente l'amore di Dio in lui è perfetto. Da ciò noi conosciamo di essere in lui.	5 But anyone who does keep his word, in such a one God's love truly reaches its perfection. This is theproof that we are in God.
6 Chi dice di dimorare in lui deve comportarsi come egli si è comportato.	6 Whoever claims to remain in him must act as he acted.
7 Carissimi, scrivendo non vi propongo un comandamento nuovo, ma un comandamento antico, che voi avevate fin dal principio. Il comandamento antico è la parola che voi avete ascoltata.	7 My dear friends, this is not a new commandment I am writing for you, but an old commandment that youhave had from the beginning; the old commandment is the message you have heard.
8 Tuttavia è anche un comandamento nuovo che vi propongo scrivendovi. Ciò è vero in lui e in voi, poiché le tenebre ormai passano e già risplende la vera luce.	8 Yet in another way, I am writing a new commandment for you -- and this is true for you, just as much asfor him -- for darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining.
9 Chi afferma di essere nella luce e odia suo fratello è ancora nelle tenebre.	9 Whoever claims to be in light but hates his brother is still in darkness.
10 Chi ama il suo fratello dimora nella luce e in lui non vi è pericolo d'inciampo.	10 Anyone who loves his brother remains in light and there is in him nothing to make him fall away.
11 Ma chi odia suo fratello è nelle tenebre e cammina nelle tenebre e non sa dove va, perché le tenebre hanno accecato i suoi occhi.	11 But whoever hates his brother is in darkness and is walking about in darkness not knowing where he isgoing, because darkness has blinded him.
12 Scrivo a voi, o figli, che vi sono rimessi i peccati nel suo nome.	12 I am writing to you, children, because your sins have been forgiven through his name.
13 Scrivo a voi, o padri, che avete conosciuto colui che è dal principio. Scrivo a voi, o giovani, che avete vinto il maligno.	13 I am writing to you, fathers, because you have come to know the One who has existed since thebeginning. I am writing to you, young people, because you have overcome the Evil One.
14 Scrivo a voi, o figlioli, che avete conosciuto il Padre. Scrivo a voi, o padri, che avete conosciuto colui che è dal principio. Scrivo a voi, o giovani, che siete forti e la parola di Dio dimora in voi e avete vinto il maligno.	14 I have written to you, children, because you have come to know the Father. I have written to you,parents, because you have come to know the One who has existed since the beginning. I have written to you,young people, because you are strong, and God's word remains in you, and you have overcome the Evil One.
15 Non amate il mondo né ciò che vi è nel mondo. Se uno ama il mondo, in lui non c'è l'amore del Padre.	15 Do not love the world or what is in the world. If anyone does love the world, the love of the Father findsno place in him,
16 Poiché tutto ciò che vi è nel mondo, la concupiscenza della carne, la concupiscenza degli occhi, lo sfarzo della ricchezza, non è dal Padre ma dal mondo.	16 because everything there is in the world -- disordered bodily desires, disordered desires of the eyes,pride in possession -- is not from the Father but is from the world.
17 Il mondo passa e così la sua concupiscenza; ma chi fa la volontà di Dio rimane in eterno.	17 And the world, with al its disordered desires, is passing away. But whoever does the will of Godremains for ever.
18 Figlioli, è l'ultima ora. Avete udito che l'anticristo deve venire, e ora molti anticristi sono già sopraggiunti; da ciò sappiamo che è l'ultima ora.	18 Children, this is the final hour; you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, and now many Antichristshave already come; from this we know that it is the final hour.
19 Essi sono usciti da noi, ma non erano dei nostri; se infatti fossero stati dei nostri, sarebbero rimasti con noi; ma doveva essere manifestato che tutti essi non sono dei nostri.	19 They have gone from among us, but they never real y belonged to us; if they had belonged to us, theywould have stayed with us. But this was to prove that not one of them belonged to us.
20 Ma voi avete l'unzione che viene dal Santo e avete tutti la scienza.	20 But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and have al received knowledge.
21 Non vi scrivo perché non conoscete la verità, ma perché avete conoscenza di essa e perché nessuna menzogna è dalla verità.	21 I have written to you not because you are ignorant of the truth, but because you are wel aware of it,and because no lie can come from the truth.
22 E chi è il mentitore se non colui che nega che Gesù è il Cristo? Questi è l'anticristo, colui che nega il Padre e il Figlio.	22 Who is the liar, if not one who claims that Jesus is not the Christ? This is the Antichrist, who deniesboth the Father and the Son.
23 Chiunque nega il Figlio non ha il Padre; chi confessa il Figlio ha il Padre.	23 Whoever denies the Son cannot have the Father either; whoever acknowledges the Son has theFather too.
24 Quanto a voi, rimanga in voi ciò che avete udito fin dal principio. Se in voi rimane quello che avete udito fin dal principio, anche voi rimarrete nel Figlio e nel Padre.	24 Let what you heard in the beginning remain in you; as long as what you heard in the beginningremains in you, you will remain in the Son and in the Father.
25 E' questa la promessa che egli ha fatto a noi: la vita eterna.	25 And the promise he made you himself is eternal life.
26 Vi scrivo queste cose riguardo a coloro che tentano di ingannarvi.	26 So much have I written to you about those who are trying to lead you astray.
27 Quanto a voi, l'unzione che da lui avete ricevuto rimane in voi e non avete bisogno che qualcuno vi istruisca. Anzi la sua unzione vi istruisce su tutto ed essa è vera e non è menzogna; perciò, siccome egli vi ha istruito, rimanete in lui.	27 But as for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone toteach you; since the anointing he gave you teaches you everything, and since it is true, not false, remain in himjust as he has taught you.
28 E ora, figli, rimanete in lui affinché noi, quando egli si manifesterà, abbiamo piena sicurezza, e alla sua venuta non siamo da lui coperti di vergogna.	28 Therefore remain in him now, children, so that when he appears we may be fearless, and not shrinkfrom him in shame at his coming.
29 Se voi conoscete che egli è giusto, sapete anche che chi opera la giustizia è da lui generato.	29 If you know that he is upright you must recognise that everyone whose life is upright is a child of his.
