1 Invece un uomo di nome Anania, con sua moglie Saffira, vendette un suo podere	1 But a certain man named Ananias, with his wife Sapphira, sold a field,
2 e, d'accordo con la moglie, trattenne per sé una parte del prezzo e andò a deporre l'altra parte ai piedi degli apostoli.	2 and he was deceitful about the price of the field, with his wife’s consent. And bringing only part of it, he placed it at the feet of the Apostles.
3 Pietro disse: "Anania, come mai Satana ti ha riempito il cuore fino a cercare d'ingannare lo Spirito Santo e trattenerti parte del prezzo del campo?	3 But Peter said: “Ananias, why has Satan tempted your heart, so that you would lie to the Holy Spirit and be deceitful about the price of the land?
4 Non era forse tuo prima di venderlo e il ricavato della vendita non era forse a tua disposizione? Come mai hai potuto pensare in cuor tuo a un'azione simile? Non hai mentito a uomini, ma a Dio!".	4 Did it not belong to you while you retained it? And having sold it, was it not in your power? Why have you set this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men, but to God!”
5 All'udire queste parole Anania cadde a terra morto. E un grande spavento s'impadronì di tutti quelli che stavano ascoltando.	5 Then Ananias, upon hearing these words, fell down and expired. And a great fear overwhelmed all who heard of it.
6 Subito alcuni giovani si mossero per avvolgerlo e portarlo a seppellire.	6 And the young men rose up and removed him; and carrying him out, they buried him.
7 Or circa tre ore dopo si presentò anche sua moglie, senza sapere ciò che era avvenuto.	7 Then about the space of three hours passed, and his wife entered, not knowing what had happened.
8 Pietro le domandò: "Dimmi, è per tanto che avete venduto il campo?". Ella rispose: "Sì, per questo prezzo".	8 And Peter said to her, “Tell me, woman, if you sold the field for this amount?” And she said, “Yes, for that amount.”
9 Pietro le disse: "Perché vi siete accordati per tentare lo Spirito del Signore? Ecco alla porta i passi di coloro che hanno sepolto tuo marito: porteranno via anche te".	9 And Peter said to her: “Why have you agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they shall carry you out!”
10 Ella gli cadde improvvisamente ai piedi, morta. Quei giovani, entrati, la trovarono morta e la portarono a seppellire vicino a suo marito.	10 Immediately, she fell down before his feet and expired. Then the young men entered and found her dead. And they carried her out and buried her next to her husband.
11 Un grande spavento si diffuse per tutta la chiesa e in tutti coloro che ascoltavano queste cose.	11 And a great fear came over the entire Church and over all who heard these things.
12 Per mano degli apostoli avvenivano molti miracoli e prodigi in mezzo al popolo. Tutti stavano insieme uniti e concordi nel portico di Salomone.	12 And through the hands of the Apostles many signs and wonders were accomplished among the people. And they all met with one accord at Solomon’s portico.
13 Nessuno degli altri osava unirsi ad essi, ma il popolo ne faceva grandi lodi.	13 And among the others, no one dared to join himself to them. But the people magnified them.
14 Sempre più andava aumentando il numero dei credenti nel Signore, una moltitudine di uomini e di donne,	14 Now the multitude of men and women who believed in the Lord was ever increasing,
15 tanto che i malati venivano portati nelle piazze e posti su lettini e barelle perché, quando Pietro passava, almeno la sua ombra ricoprisse qualcuno di loro.	15 so much so that they laid the infirm in the streets, placing them on beds and stretchers, so that, as Peter arrived, at least his shadow might fall upon any one of them, and they would be freed from their infirmities.
16 La folla confluiva anche dalle città attorno a Gerusalemme, portando malati e persone tormentate da spiriti immondi, i quali tutti venivano guariti.	16 But a multitude also hurried to Jerusalem from the neighboring cities, carrying the sick and those troubled by unclean spirits, who were all healed.
17 Allora si mossero il sommo sacerdote e tutti i suoi aderenti, cioè la setta dei sadducei. Pieni di gelosia	17 Then the high priest and all those who were with him, that is, the heretical sect of the Sadducees, rose up and were filled with jealousy.
18 misero le mani sugli apostoli e li chiusero nel carcere pubblico.	18 And they laid hands on the Apostles, and they placed them in the common prison.
19 Ma un angelo del Signore di notte aprì le porte della prigione, li condusse fuori e disse:	19 But in the night, an Angel of the Lord opened the doors of the prison and led them out, saying,
20 "Andate e mettetevi nel tempio a predicare al popolo tutta questa dottrina di vita".	20 “Go and stand in the temple, speaking to the people all these words of life.”
21 Udito ciò, entrarono di buon mattino nel tempio e insegnavano. Intanto sopraggiunsero il sommo sacerdote e i suoi aderenti e convocarono il sinedrio e tutto il senato dei figli d'Israele. Quindi mandarono (dei messi) alla prigione a prelevarli.	21 And when they had heard this, they entered the temple at first light, and they were teaching. Then the high priest, and those who were with him, approached, and they called together the council and all the elders of the sons of Israel. And they sent to the prison to have them brought.
22 Ma questi, giunti colà, non li trovarono nella prigione. Tornati indietro, riferirono ciò dicendo:	22 But when the attendants had arrived, and, upon opening the prison, had not found them, they returned and reported to them,
23 "Abbiamo trovato la prigione chiusa con ogni cautela e le guardie in piedi davanti alle porte. Ma quando le abbiamo aperte, non abbiamo trovato dentro nessuno".	23 saying: “We found the prison certainly locked up with all diligence, and the guards standing before the door. But upon opening it, we found no one within.”
24 Udite queste parole, il comandante del tempio e i sommi sacerdoti si domandavano turbati come ciò sarebbe andato a finire.	24 Then, when the magistrate of the temple and the chief priests heard these words, they were uncertain about them, as to what should happen.
25 Ma qualcuno, sopraggiunto in quel momento, annunciò loro: "Ecco, gli uomini che avete messo in prigione stanno nel tempio e istruiscono il popolo".	25 But someone arrived and reported to them, “Behold, the men whom you placed in prison are in the temple, standing and teaching the people.”
26 Allora il comandante del tempio uscì con le guardie e li ricondusse, non però con la forza, poiché avevano paura di essere lapidati dal popolo.	26 Then the magistrate, with the attendants, went and brought them without force. For they were afraid of the people, lest they be stoned.
27 Condottili nel sinedrio, li posero in mezzo e il sommo sacerdote li interrogò:	27 And when they had brought them, they stood them before the council. And the high priest questioned them,
28 "Non vi abbiamo forse formalmente ordinato di non insegnare più in questo nome? Ed ecco, avete riempito Gerusalemme del vostro insegnamento e volete far ricadere su di noi il sangue di quest'uomo".	28 and said: “We strongly order you not to teach in this name. For behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and you wish to bring the blood of this man upon us.”
29 Ma Pietro e gli apostoli risposero: "Bisogna ubbidire a Dio piuttosto che agli uomini.	29 But Peter and the Apostles responded by saying: “It is necessary to obey God, more so than men.
30 Il Dio dei nostri padri ha risuscitato Gesù che voi avete ucciso sospendendolo a un legno.	30 The God of our fathers has raised up Jesus, whom you put to death by hanging him on a tree.
31 Dio lo ha innalzato con la sua destra come capo supremo e salvatore per concedere a Israele la conversione e la remissione dei peccati.	31 It is he whom God has exalted at his right hand as Ruler and Savior, so as to offer repentance and the remission of sins to Israel.
32 Di queste cose siamo testimoni noi e lo Spirito Santo che Dio ha dato a coloro che gli obbediscono".	32 And we are witnesses of these things, with the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to all who are obedient to him.”
33 Ma quelli, udendo queste cose, si esasperarono e volevano ucciderli.	33 When they had heard these things, they were deeply wounded, and they were planning to put them to death.
34 Allora si alzò nel sinedrio un fariseo di nome Gamaliele, dottore della legge, onorato da tutto il popolo, e richiese che quegli uomini fossero condotti fuori un momento.	34 But someone in the council, a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law honored by all the people, rose up and ordered the men to be put outside briefly.
35 Poi disse loro: "Israeliti, riflettete bene su ciò che state per fare di questi uomini.	35 And he said to them: “Men of Israel, you should be careful in your intentions about these men.
36 Infatti tempo fa venne fuori Teuda, che si spacciava per un personaggio straordinario, e gli andò dietro un gran numero di uomini, quasi quattrocento. Ma quando fu ucciso, tutti i suoi aderenti furono dispersi e si ridussero a nulla.	36 For before these days, Theudas stepped forward, asserting himself to be someone, and a number of men, about four hundred, joined with him. But he was killed, and all who believed in him were scattered, and they were reduced to nothing.
37 Dopo di lui saltò fuori Giuda il Galileo, nei giorni del censimento, e trascinò il popolo dietro di sé. Ma anch'egli finì male e tutti i suoi aderenti furono dispersi.	37 After this one, Judas the Galilean stepped forward, in the days of the enrollment, and he turned the people toward himself. But he also perished, and all of them, as many as had joined with him, were dispersed.
38 Or dunque io vi dico: non impicciatevi di questi uomini e lasciateli fare. Perché se questo è un progetto o un'impresa messa su dagli uomini, sarà distrutta;	38 And now therefore, I say to you, withdraw from these men and leave them alone. For if this counsel or work is of men, it will be broken.
39 ma se viene da Dio, non potrete annientarli: guardatevi dal farvi trovare in lotta con Dio!". Si attennero al consiglio	39 Yet truly, if it is of God, you will not be able to break it, and perhaps you might be found to have fought against God.” And they agreed with him.
40 e, fatti chiamare gli apostoli, li fecero percuotere e comandarono loro di non parlare più nel nome di Gesù. Quindi li rilasciarono.	40 And calling in the Apostles, having beaten them, they warned them not to speak at all in the name of Jesus. And they dismissed them.
41 Essi se ne andavano via dal sinedrio lieti perché erano stati fatti degni di subire oltraggi per il nome.	41 And indeed, they went forth from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were considered worthy to suffer insult on behalf of the name of Jesus.
42 E ogni giorno, nel tempio e per le case, non cessavano di insegnare e di annunciare la buona novella del Cristo Gesù.	42 And every day, in the temple and among the houses, they did not cease to teach and to evangelize Christ Jesus.
