Ezechiele 14

1 Vennero da me alcuni anziani d'Israele e mentre mi stavano seduti davanti	1 When certain elders of Israel came and sat down before me,
2 mi giunse la parola del Signore:	2 the word of the LORD came to me:
3 "Figlio dell'uomo, quelli lì si sono innalzati nel cuore i loro idoli e si sono tesi da sé la trappola delle loro colpe. Mi lascerò dunque interpellare da loro?	3 Son of man, these men have the memory of their idols fresh in their hearts, and they keep the occasion of their sin before them. Why should I allow myself to be consulted by them?
4 Perciò parla e di' loro: Così dice Dio, mio Signore: Se uno della casa d'Israele, uno che si sia innalzato nel cuore i suoi idoli e si sia teso da sé la trappola delle sue colpe, va dal profeta, gliela darò io, il Signore, la risposta, con tutti quei suoi idoli!	4 Therefore speak with them, and say to them: Thus says the Lord GOD: If anyone of the house of Israel, holding the memory of his idols in his heart and keeping the occasion of his sin before him, has recourse to a prophet, I, the LORD, will be his answer in person because of his many idols.
5 Agguanterò quelli della casa d'Israele, che si è staccata da me per tutti i suoi idoli.	5 Thus would I bring back to their senses the house of Israel, who have become estranged from me through all their idols.
6 Perciò di' alla casa d'Israele: Così dice Dio, mio Signore: Convertitevi dai vostri idoli e distogliete la faccia dalle vostre abominazioni.	6 Therefore say to the house of Israel: Thus says the Lord GOD: Return and be converted from your idols; turn yourselves away from all your abominations.
7 Infatti se uno della casa d'Israele o dei forestieri residenti in Israele si stacca da me e s'innalza nel cuore gli idoli e si tende da sé la trappola delle sue colpe e poi se ne viene dal profeta a interpellarmi, gliela darò io, il Signore, la risposta!	7 For if anyone of the house of Israel or any alien resident in Israel is estranged from me, and holds the memory of his idols in his heart and keeps the occasion of his sin before him, yet asks a prophet to consult me for him, I, the LORD, will be his answer in person.
8 Mi volgerò contro costui e lo renderò un segnale e una lezione; lo reciderò dal mio popolo e riconoscerete che io sono il Signore.	8 I will turn against that man, and make of him an example and a byword. I will cut him off from the midst of my people. Thus you shall know that I am the LORD.
9 Se un profeta si fa ingannare e riferisce la parola, io lo ingannerò e stenderò il mio braccio contro di lui e lo cancellerò dal mio popolo Israele.	9 As for the prophet, if he is beguiled into speaking a word, I, the LORD, shall have beguiled that prophet; I will stretch out my hand against him and root him out of my people Israel.
10 Porteranno la loro colpa; com'è la colpa di chi lo ha interpellato, così sarà la colpa del profeta.	10 Each shall receive punishment for his sin, the inquirer and the prophet shall be punished alike,
11 Ciò perché non abbiate più a traviare lontano da me, o casa d'Israele, e non vi macchiate più d'impurità con tutte le vostre rivolte, e siate il mio popolo e io il vostro Dio; oracolo di Dio, mio Signore".	11 so that the house of Israel may no longer stray from me and may no longer be defiled by all their sins. Thus they shall be my people, and I will be their God, says the Lord GOD.
12 Mi giunse la parola del Signore:	12 Thus the word of the LORD came to me:
13 "Figlio dell'uomo, se un paese pecca contro di me commettendo infedeltà, stenderò il mio braccio contro di esso e gli spezzerò il bastone del pane; gli manderò la fame e vi reciderò uomini e animali.	13 Son of man, when a land sins against me by breaking faith, I stretch out my hand against it and break its staff of bread, I let famine loose upon it and cut off from it both man and beast;
14 Se vi si trovassero i tre famosi personaggi: Noè, Daniele e Giobbe, essi salverebbero se stessi per la loro giustizia, oracolo di Dio, mio Signore.	14 and even if these three men were in it, Noah, Daniel, and Job, they could save only themselves by their virtue, says the Lord GOD.
15 Oppure, se facessi invadere quel paese dalle fiere selvagge e lo spopolassero e diventasse desolato non passandoci più nessuno per paura di quelle fiere,	15 If I were to cause wild beasts to prowl the land, depopulating it so that it became a waste, traversed by none because of the wild beasts,
16 quei suoi tre personaggi, lo giuro per la mia vita, oracolo di Dio, mio Signore, non salverebbero né figli né figlie; salverebbero solo se stessi e il paese rimarrebbe desolato.	16 and these three men were in it, as I live, says the Lord GOD, I swear they could save neither sons nor daughters; they alone would be saved, and the land would be a waste.
17 Oppure, se facessi venire contro quel paese la spada e dicessi che la spada lo invada e vi recidessi uomini e animali,	17 Or if I brought the sword upon this country, commanding the sword to pass through the land cutting off from it man and beast,
18 quei suoi tre personaggi, lo giuro per la mia vita, oracolo di Dio, mio Signore, non salverebbero né figlie né figli: si salverebbero essi soli.	18 and these three men were in it, as I live, says the Lord GOD, they would be unable to save either sons or daughters; they alone would be saved.
19 Oppure, se mandassi contro quel paese la peste e sfogassi il mio furore contro di esso sì da recidervi uomini e animali,	19 Or if I were to send pestilence into this land, pouring out upon it my bloodthirsty fury, cutting off from it man and beast,
20 se vi fossero nel paese Noè, Daniele e Giobbe, lo giuro per la mia vita, oracolo di Dio, mio Signore, non salverebbero neanche un figlio o una figlia: salverebbero se stessi per la loro giustizia.	20 even if Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, as I live, says the Lord GOD, I swear that they could save neither son nor daughter; they would save only themselves by their virtue.
21 Ebbene, così dice Dio, mio Signore: Lo stesso capita se mando contro Gerusalemme le mie quattro dure condanne: spada, fame, fiere selvagge e peste, sì da recidervi uomini e animali.	21 Thus says the Lord GOD: Even though I send Jerusalem my four cruel punishments, the sword, famine, wild beasts, and pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast,
22 Ecco, vi rimarranno alcuni superstiti; troveranno scampo figli e figlie. Appena giungeranno da voi, costaterete la condotta e le azioni di quelli e vi consolerete del male che ho mandato su Gerusalemme, di tutto quello che le ho mandato contro.	22 still some survivors shall be left in it who will bring out sons and daughters; when they come out to you, you shall see their conduct and their actions and be consoled regarding the evil I have brought on Jerusalem (all that I have brought upon it).
23 Essi vi consoleranno perché costaterete la condotta e le azioni di quelli. Riconoscerete che non senza ragione ho fatto quel che ho fatto in essa, oracolo di Dio, mio Signore".	23 They shall console you when you see their conduct and actions, for you shall then know that it was not without reason that I did to it what I did, says the Lord GOD.
