Geremia 23

LA SACRA BIBBIA	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 Guai ai pastori sfruttatori e dissipatori del gregge del mio pascolo, oracolo del Signore.	1 “Woe to the shepherds who scatter and tear apart the sheep of my pasture, says the Lord.
2 Perciò così dice il Signore, Dio di Israele, contro i pastori che pascolano il mio popolo: "Voi avete sfruttato il mio gregge e l'avete disperso e non ve ne siete preoccupati. Eccomi: io mi preoccuperò di voi, della malvagità delle vostre azioni, oracolo del Signore.	2 Because of this, thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, to the shepherds who pasture my people: You have scattered my flock, and you have driven them away, and you have not visited them. Behold, I will visit upon you because of your evil pursuits, says the Lord.
3 Quanto a me, io radunerò il resto del mio gregge da tutti i paesi dove li ho dispersi e li ricondurrò al loro pascolo e prolificheranno e si moltiplicheranno.	3 And I will gather together the remnant of my flock from the entire earth, from the places to which I had cast them out. And I will return them to their own fields. And they will increase and be multiplied.
4 Susciterò poi su di esso pastori che li pascoleranno e non temeranno né si spaventeranno, né alcuno verrà a mancare. Oracolo del Signore".	4 And I will raise up shepherds over them, and they will pasture them. They will no longer dread, and they will no longer fear. And no one among their number will be seeking more, says the Lord.
5 "Ecco: giorni vengono, oracolo del Signore, in cui io susciterò a Davide un germe giusto e regnerà qual re; sarà saggio ed eserciterà diritto e giustizia nel paese.	5 Behold, the days are approaching, says the Lord, when I will raise up to David a righteous branch. And a king will reign, and he will be wise. And he will exercise judgment and justice upon the earth.
6 Ai suoi giorni sarà salvato Giuda e Israele dimorerà con sicurezza. Questo poi è il nome con cui sarà chiamato: Signore-giustizia-nostra!	6 In those days, Judah will be saved, and Israel will live in confidence. And this is the name that they will call him: ‘The Lord, our Just One.’
7 Perciò, ecco che vengono giorni, oracolo del Signore, nei quali non diranno più: "Per la vita del Signore, che ha ricondotto i figli di Israele dal paese d'Egitto",	7 Because of this, behold, the days are approaching, says the Lord, when they will no longer say, ‘As the Lord lives, who led the sons of Israel away from the land of Egypt,’
8 bensì: "Per la vita del Signore, che ha fatto uscire e ricondotto il seme della casa d'Israele dal paese del nord e da tutti i paesi dove li aveva dispersi: essi riposeranno nel loro territorio".	8 but instead, ‘As the Lord lives, who led away and brought back the offspring of the house of Israel from the land of the north and from the entire earth,’ from the places to which I had cast them out. And they will live in their own land.”
9 "Contro i profeti. Si spezza il mio cuore dentro di me, si slogano tutte le mie ossa; son divenuto come un ubriaco e come uomo sopraffatto dal vino a causa del Signore, a causa delle sue parole sante!	9 To the prophets: “My heart is crushed within me. All my bones are trembling. I have become like an inebriated man, and like a man maddened by wine, before the face of the Lord, and before the face of his holy words.
10 Sì, il paese è pieno di adùlteri; a causa della maledizione è in lutto il paese: si seccano i prati del deserto. La loro via è perversa e la loro forza non è retta.	10 For the earth is full of adulterers! And the earth has mourned before the face of evil talk. The plains of the desert have dried up, and their course has become hazardous, and their firmness has become uneven.”
11 Anche il profeta e il sacerdote sono divenuti empi; perfino nella mia casa trovo la malvagità loro. Oracolo del Signore.	11 “For both the prophet and the priest have become polluted, and I have found their wickedness within my own house, says the Lord.
12 Perciò la loro strada sarà per loro stessi come luogo sdrucciolevole. Nelle tenebre saranno dispersi e cadranno in esse, poiché manderò contro di loro la sventura nell'anno del loro castigo. Oracolo del Signore.	12 For this reason, their way will be like a slippery path in the dark. For they will be impelled forward, and they will fall in it. For I will bring evils over them, in the year of their visitation, says the Lord.
13 Anche tra i profeti di Samaria ho visto scempiaggini: hanno profetizzato per Baal, e hanno traviato il mio popolo, Israele.	13 And I have seen the foolishness of the prophets of Samaria. They have prophesied in Baal, and they have deceived my people Israel.
14 E tra i profeti di Gerusalemme ho visto nefandezze: commettere adulterio e camminare nel falso; essi rafforzano le mani dei malfattori perché non si ritiri alcuno dalla sua malvagità. Son divenuti, per me, tutti come Sodoma e gli abitanti suoi come Gomorra.	14 And in the prophets of Jerusalem, I have seen the likeness of adulterers and the path of falsehood. And they have strengthened the hands of the wicked, so that each one would not convert from his malice. They have all become to me like Sodom, and its inhabitants have become like Gomorrah.”
15 Perciò così dice il Signore degli eserciti contro i profeti: Ecco, io vi nutrirò di assenzio e vi darò a bere acqua avvelenata, perché per colpa dei profeti di Gerusalemme si è sparsa l'empietà su tutto il paese.	15 Because of this, thus says the Lord of hosts to the prophets: “Behold, I will feed them absinthe, and I will give them gall to drink. For from the prophets of Jerusalem corruption has gone forth over the entire earth.”
16 Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: Non date ascolto alle parole dei profeti che vi profetizzano; essi vi fanno credere cose vane; visioni del loro cuore vi annunciano e non da parte del Signore!	16 Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Do not choose to listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you and deceive you. They speak a vision from their own heart, and not from the mouth of the Lord.
17 Essi dicono a chi mi disprezza: "Ha detto il Signore: avrete salvezza!"; e a chiunque cammina nella durezza del proprio cuore dicono: "Non verrà contro di voi sventura!".	17 To those who blaspheme me, they say: ‘The Lord has said: You shall have peace.’ And to every one who walks in the depravity of his own heart, they have said: ‘No evil will overwhelm you.’ ”
18 Infatti, chi assisté al consiglio del Signore, lo vide e ascoltò la sua parola? Chi ha fatto attenzione alla sua parola e l'ha compresa?	18 For who has been present in the counsel of the Lord, and who has seen and heard his word? Who has considered his word and heard it?
19 Ecco: la burrasca del Signore scoppia furiosa, burrasca turbinante si aggira sulla testa degli empi.	19 Behold, the whirlwind of the Lord’s indignation will go forth, and a tempest will break out; it will overwhelm the head of the impious.
20 Non si ritirerà l'ira del Signore, finché lui abbia compiuto e realizzato i disegni del suo cuore. Al termine dei giorni lo comprenderete a pieno.	20 The fury of the Lord will not return until it succeeds, and until it completes the plan of his heart. In the last days, you will understand this counsel.
21 Io non ho inviato questi profeti, ma essi corrono; non ho parlato a loro, ma essi profetizzano.	21 “I did not send these prophets, yet they hurry forward. I was not speaking to them, yet they were prophesying.
22 Se avessero assistito al mio consiglio, avrebbero annunciato la mia parola al mio popolo, l'avrebbero fatto ritirare dalla sua condotta malvagia e dalla malvagità delle sue azioni.	22 If they had stood in my counsel, and if I had made my words known to my people, certainly I would have turned them away from their evil ways and from their most wicked plans.
23 Sono forse un Dio-da-vicino, oracolo del Signore, e non un Dio-da-lontano?	23 Do you not realize that I am a God close by, says the Lord, and not a God far away?
24 Può nascondersi alcuno nei nascondigli che io non lo veda? Oracolo del Signore. Forse che i cieli e la terra non li riempio io? Oracolo del Signore.	24 If a man is hidden in concealed places, do I not see him, says the Lord? Do I not fill up heaven and earth, says the Lord?
25 Ho inteso ciò che hanno detto questi profeti che profetizzano in nome mio menzogna, dicendo: "Ho sognato! Ho sognato!".	25 I have heard what the prophets have said, prophesying falsehoods in my name, and also saying: ‘I have dreamed! I have dreamed!’
26 Fin quando dovrà durare ciò nel cuore di questi profeti che profetizzano la menzogna e profetizzano l'inganno del loro cuore?	26 How long will this be in the heart of the prophets who predict what is false, and who prophesy deceptions from their own heart?
27 Essi pensano di far dimenticare al mio popolo il mio nome con i loro sogni, quelli che ognuno racconta all'altro, come i loro padri hanno dimenticato il mio nome per Baal.	27 They want to cause my people to forget my name, by means of their dreams, which each of them describes to his neighbor, just as their fathers forgot my name for the sake of Baal.
28 Il profeta che ha avuto un sogno, racconti un sogno, e chi ha avuto la mia parola annunzi la mia parola con verità. Cos'ha in comune la paglia con il frumento? Oracolo del Signore.	28 The prophet who has had a dream, let him describe the dream. And he who receives my word, let him speak my word in truth. For what has the chaff to do with the wheat, says the Lord?
29 Non è, forse, così la mia parola: come fuoco, oracolo del Signore, e come martello che spezza la roccia?	29 Are not my words like a fire, says the Lord, and like a hammer crushing rock?
30 Perciò, eccomi contro questi profeti, oracolo del Signore, che rubano le mie parole l'uno all'altro.	30 Therefore, behold: I am against the prophets, says the Lord, who steal my words, each one from his neighbor.
31 Eccomi contro questi profeti, oracolo del Signore, che occupano la propria lingua a proferire oracoli.	31 Behold, I am against the prophets, says the Lord, who take up their tongues and say: ‘The Lord says it.’
32 Eccomi contro i profeti di sogni menzogneri, oracolo del Signore. Li raccontano e fanno deviare il mio popolo con le loro menzogne e le loro temerità, mentre io non li ho inviati, né ho dato loro ordini, né sono di alcuna utilità per questo popolo. Oracolo del Signore".	32 Behold, I am against the prophets, who dream what is false, says the Lord; who explain and so seduce my people with their falsehoods and with their miracles, though I did not send them, nor did I command them. They have offer nothing beneficial to this people, says the Lord.
33 "Se pertanto questo popolo, o un profeta o un sacerdote, ti interrogherà: "Qual è l'incarico-del-Signore?", risponderai: "Voi siete il carico e vi ho rigettato!". Oracolo del Signore.	33 Therefore, if this people, or a prophet, or a priest questions you, saying, ‘What is the burden of the Lord?’ you shall say to them, ‘You are the burden. And certainly I will cast you away, says the Lord.’
34 Se poi il profeta o il sacerdote o la gente dirà: "Incarico-del-Signore", io punirò quell'individuo e la sua casa.	34 And as for the prophet, and the priest, and the people who say, ‘The burden of the Lord!’ I will visit upon that man and upon his house.
35 Così direte uno all'altro e ognuno al proprio fratello: "Cosa ha risposto il Signore e cosa ha detto il Signore?".	35 And then you will speak in this way, each one to his neighbor and to his brother: ‘What has the Lord answered? And what has the Lord said?’
36 Ma voi non userete più "carico-del-Signore", altrimenti un "carico" sarà per ognuno la propria parola e pervertirete le parole del Dio vivente, Signore degli eserciti, Dio nostro.	36 And the burden of the Lord will be no longer be called to mind. For each one’s own word will be a burden. For you have perverted the words of the living God, of the Lord of hosts, our God.
37 Così si dirà al profeta: "Cosa ti ha risposto il Signore e qual è la sua parola?".	37 And then you will speak in this way to the prophet: ‘What has the Lord answered you? And what has the Lord spoken?’
38 Ma se direte: "Incarico-del-Signore", allora così dice il Signore: Poiché voi dite questa parola "Incarico-del-Signore",	38 But if you say, ‘The burden of the Lord!’ then because of this, thus says the Lord: Since you have spoken this word, ‘The burden of the Lord!’ though I sent to you telling you not to say: ‘The burden of the Lord,’
39 per questo eccomi: Io mi dimenticherò di voi e rigetterò completamente voi e la città che io ho dato a voi e ai vostri padri, dinanzi al mio cospetto,	39 because of this, behold, I will take you away, like a burden, and I will forsake you, as well as the city that I gave to you and to your fathers, before my face.
40 e vi renderò un'ignominia perpetua e una vergogna che non si dimentica".	40 And I will give you over to an everlasting reproach and an eternal disgrace, which shall never be wiped away into oblivion.”
