Isaia 59

LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Ecco, non è troppo corta la mano del Signore per salvare, né il suo orecchio troppo duro per udire.	1 Lo, the hand of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear.
2 Piuttosto le vostre iniquità hanno formato una separazione tra voi e il vostro Dio, i vostri peccati hanno fatto nascondere la sua faccia fra voi, così che non vi ascolta.	2 Rather, it is your crimes that separate you from your God, It is your sins that make him hide his face so that he will not hear you.
3 Sì, le vostre palme si sono macchiate di sangue e le vostre dita di crimini; le vostre labbra proferiscono la menzogna e le vostre lingue sussurrano iniquità.	3 For your hands are stained with blood, your fingers with guilt; Your lips speak falsehood, and your tongue utters deceit.
4 Nessuno muove causa giustamente e nessuno giudica con verità; si confida nel nulla e si dice il falso, si concepisce il male e si genera l'iniquità.	4 No one brings suit justly, no one pleads truthfully; They trust in emptiness and tell lies; they conceive mischief and bring forth malice.
5 Rompono le uova delle vipere e tessono tele di ragno; chi mangia di quelle uova, muore; se viene schiacciato, ne esce una vipera.	5 They hatch adders' eggs, and weave spiders' webs: Whoever eats their eggs will die, if one of them is pressed, it will hatch as a viper;
6 Le loro tele non diventeranno vestiti e non si copriranno con i loro manufatti. Le loro opere sono opere di iniquità e nelle loro mani c'è il frutto della violenza.	6 Their webs cannot serve as clothing, nor can they cover themselves with their works. Their works are evil works, and deeds of violence come from their hands.
7 I loro piedi corrono verso il male e si affrettano a versare il sangue innocente; i loro pensieri sono pensieri di iniquità, sui loro sentieri c'è rovina e distruzione.	7 Their feet run to evil, and they are quick to shed innocent blood; Their thoughts are destructive thoughts, plunder and ruin are on their highways.
8 Non conoscono il cammino della pace e non vi è rettitudine nelle loro vie; i loro sentieri se li rendono tortuosi e chi marcia in essi non conosce la pace.	8 The way of peace they know not, and there is nothing that is right in their paths; Their ways they have made crooked, whoever treads them knows no peace.
9 Perciò il diritto è lontano da noi e la giustizia non arriva fino a noi. Speravamo nella luce, ecco invece le tenebre; nello splendore, invece camminiamo nell'oscurità.	9 That is why right is far from us and justice does not reach us. We look for light, and lo, darkness; for brightness, but we walk in gloom!
10 Come ciechi, tastiamo la parete; come privi di occhi, palpiamo; inciampiamo a mezzogiorno come al crepuscolo, in pieno vigore siamo come morti.	10 Like blind men we grope along the wall, like people without eyes we feel our way. We stumble at midday as at dusk, in Stygian darkness, like the dead.
11 Tutti noi urliamo come orsi e come colombe non cessiamo di gemere; speravamo nel diritto, ma non c'è; nella salvezza, ma essa è lontana da noi.	11 We all growl like bears, like doves we moan without ceasing. We look for right, but it is not there; for salvation, and it is far from us.
12 Poiché sono molti i nostri delitti davanti a te e i nostri peccati testimoniano contro di noi; poiché i nostri delitti ci sono presenti e le nostre colpe noi le conosciamo:	12 For our offenses before you are many, our sins bear witness against us. Yes, our offenses are present to us, and our crimes we know:
13 ribellarsi e rinnegare il Signore, ritirarsi dalla sequela del nostro Dio, parlare di oppressione e ribellione, concepire e mormorare nel cuore parole menzognere.	13 Transgressing, and denying the LORD, turning back from following our God, Threatening outrage, and apostasy, uttering words of falsehood the heart has conceived.
14 Il giudizio è messo in disparte e la giustizia se ne sta lontana, perché la verità incespica sulla piazza e la rettitudine non può avervi accesso.	14 Right is repelled, and justice stands far off; For truth stumbles in the public square, uprightness cannot enter.
15 Così la verità è scomparsa; chi evita il male, viene depredato. Il Signore l'ha visto, e parve male ai suoi occhi che non ci sia più diritto;	15 Honesty is lacking, and the man who turns from evil is despoiled. The LORD saw this, and was aggrieved that right did not exist.
16 vide che non c'era nessuno, si meravigliò che nessuno interveniva. Allora il suo braccio portò aiuto e la sua giustizia lo sostenne.	16 He saw that there was no one, and was appalled that there was none to intervene; So his own arm brought about the victory, and his justice lent him its support.
17 Si rivestì della giustizia come di una corazza e sul capo vi è l'elmo della salvezza, indossò gli abiti della vendetta e si cinse di gelosia come di un mantello.	17 He put on justice as his breastplate, salvation, as the helmet on his head; He clothed himself with garments of vengeance, wrapped himself in a mantle of zeal.
18 Egli retribuisce secondo l'operato, sdegno ai suoi avversari, castigo ai suoi nemici; alle isole renderà il castigo.	18 He repays his enemies their deserts, and requites his foes with wrath.
19 In occidente si venererà il nome del Signore e in oriente la sua gloria, poiché egli verrà come un torrente irruente sospinto dal vento del Signore.	19 Those in the west shall fear the name of the LORD, and those in the east, his glory; For it shall come like a pent-up river which the breath of the LORD drives on.
20 Verrà per Sion come redentore e per i convertiti dal peccato in Giacobbe. Oracolo del Signore.	20 He shall come to Zion a redeemer to those of Jacob who turn from sin, says the LORD.
21 "Quanto a me, questo è il mio patto con essi, dice il Signore: il mio spirito che è sopra di te e le mie parole che ho posto nella tua bocca non recederanno dalla tua bocca né dalla bocca della tua discendenza né dalla bocca della discendenza della discendenza, dice il Signore, da ora e per sempre".	21 This is the covenant with them which I myself have made, says the LORD: My spirit which is upon you and my words that I have put into your mouth Shall never leave your mouth, nor the mouths of your children Nor the mouths of your children's children from now on and forever, says the LORD.
