Isaia 34

LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Accostatevi, o popoli, per udire; nazioni, fate attenzione! Ascolti la terra e ciò che la riempie, il mondo e quanto esso produce!	1 Come near, O nations, and hear; be attentive, O peoples! Let the earth and what fills it listen, the world and all it produces.
2 Perché il Signore si è adirato contro tutte le nazioni, si è sdegnato contro tutti i loro eserciti, li ha condannati all'anatema, li ha destinati al massacro.	2 The LORD is angry with all the nations and is wrathful against all their host; he has doomed them and given them over to slaughter.
3 I loro trafitti sono stati gettati via, e dai loro cadaveri sale il fetore, del loro sangue i monti grondano.	3 Their slain shall be cast out, their corpses shall send up a stench; The mountains shall run with their blood,
4 Si dissolve tutta l'armata del cielo, i cieli si arrotolano come un libro, tutte le loro schiere cadranno, come cade il pampino della vite, come le foglie avvizzite del fico.	4 and all the hills shall rot; The heavens shall be rolled up like a scroll, and all their host shall wither away, As the leaf wilts on the vine, or as the fig withers on the tree.
5 Sì, la mia spada si è inebriata nel cielo, ecco, essa si abbatte contro Edom e contro il popolo che ho votato alla condanna.	5 When my sword has drunk its fill in the heavens, lo, it shall come down in judgment upon Edom, a people I have doomed.
6 La spada del Signore è piena di sangue, è intrisa di adipe, del sangue di agnelli e di capri, del grasso delle viscere dei montoni, perché il Signore offre un sacrificio in Bozra, un grande massacro nella terra di Edom.	6 The LORD has a sword filled with blood, greasy with fat, With the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of rams' kidneys; For the LORD has a sacrifice in Bozrah, a great slaughter in the land of Edom.
7 Con essi cadono bisonti, giovenche insieme con tori; la loro terra gronda sangue e la loro polvere s'impingua di adipe.	7 Wild oxen shall be struck down with fatlings, and bullocks with bulls; Their land shall be soaked with blood, and their earth greasy with fat.
8 Perché è il giorno della vendetta del Signore, l'anno della retribuzione per il difensore di Sion.	8 For the LORD has a day of vengeance, a year of requital by Zion's defender.
9 I suoi torrenti si cambieranno in pece, la sua polvere in zolfo, il loro paese diventerà pece ardente.	9 Edom's streams shall be changed into pitch and her earth into sulphur, and her land shall become burning pitch;
10 Né giorno né notte si estinguerà, il suo fumo salirà eternamente; rimarrà arido di generazione in generazione, nessuno più vi passerà.	10 Night and day it shall not be quenched, its smoke shall rise forever. From generation to generation she shall lie waste, never again shall anyone pass through her.
11 L'occuperanno il pellicano e la civetta, vi abiteranno il gufo ed il corvo. Il Signore stenderà su di esso la corda della solitudine e la livella del vuoto.	11 But the desert owl and hoot owl shall possess her, the screech owl and raven shall dwell in her. The LORD will measure her with line and plummet to be an empty waste for satyrs to dwell in.
12 Vi prenderanno dimora i satiri e i suoi nobili non vi saranno più; non vi si proclameranno più i re e tutti i suoi prìncipi saranno annientati.	12 Her nobles shall be no more, nor shall kings be proclaimed there; all her princes are gone.
13 Nei suoi palazzi cresceranno le spine, nelle sue fortezze ortiche e cardi; esso diventerà dimora di sciacalli, riparo degli struzzi.	13 Her castles shall be overgrown with thorns, her fortresses with thistles and briers. She shall become an abode for jackals and a haunt for ostriches.
14 Cani selvatici s'incontreranno con le iene, e i satiri si chiameranno l'un l'altro; ivi ancora abiterà Lilìt, trovandovi il riposo.	14 Wildcats shall meet with desert beasts, satyrs shall call to one another; There shall the lilith repose, and find for herself a place to rest.
15 Quivi si anniderà la vipera, deporrà le uova, le coverà, le farà schiudere nell'ombra; là si raduneranno pure gli avvoltoi, nessuno perderà il suo compagno.	15 There the hoot owl shall nest and lay eggs, hatch them out and gather them in her shadow; There shall the kites assemble, none shall be missing its mate.
16 Cercate nel libro del Signore e leggete: nessuno di essi mancherà, perché la sua bocca l'ha comandato ed è il suo spirito che li raduna.	16 Look in the book of the LORD and read: No one of these shall be lacking, For the mouth of the LORD has ordered it, and his spirit shall gather them there.
17 Egli getterà per essi la sorte; la sua mano ha ripartito loro il paese con misura, lo possederanno per l'eternità, vi abiteranno di generazione in generazione.	17 It is he who casts the lot for them, and with his hands he marks off their shares of her; They shall possess her forever, and dwell there from generation to generation.
