LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Quando gli uomini cominciarono a moltiplicarsi sopra la faccia della terra e nacquero loro delle figliole,	1 When people began being numerous on earth, and daughters had been born to them,
2 avvenne che i figli di Dio videro che le figliole degli uomini erano piacevoli e se ne presero per mogli tra tutte quelle che più loro piacquero.	2 the sons of God, looking at the women, saw how beautiful they were and married as many of them asthey chose.
3 Allora il Signore disse: "Il mio spirito non durerà per sempre nell'uomo, perché egli non è che carne, e i suoi giorni saranno di centovent'anni".	3 Yahweh said, 'My spirit cannot be indefinitely responsible for human beings, who are only flesh; let thetime al owed each be a hundred and twenty years.'
4 C'erano i giganti sulla terra a quei tempi, e anche dopo, quando i figli di Dio s'accostarono alle figliole dell'uomo e queste partorirono loro dei figli. Sono questi i famosi eroi dell'antichità.	4 The Nephilim were on earth in those days (and even afterwards) when the sons of God resorted to thewomen, and had children by them. These were the heroes of days gone by, men of renown.
5 Allora il Signore vide che la malvagità dell'uomo era grande sulla terra e che ogni progetto concepito dal suo cuore non era rivolto ad altro che al male tutto il giorno:	5 Yahweh saw that human wickedness was great on earth and that human hearts contrived nothing butwicked schemes al day long.
6 di conseguenza il Signore fu dispiaciuto di aver fatto l'uomo sulla terra e se ne addolorò in cuor suo.	6 Yahweh regretted having made human beings on earth and was grieved at heart.
7 Sicché il Signore disse: "Io voglio cancellare dalla faccia della terra l'uomo che ho creato: uomo e bestiame e rettili e uccelli del cielo, poiché mi dispiace d'averli fatti".	7 And Yahweh said, 'I shal rid the surface of the earth of the human beings whom I created -- humanand animal, the creeping things and the birds of heaven -- for I regret having made them.'
8 Tuttavia Noè trovò grazia agli occhi del Signore.	8 But Noah won Yahweh's favour.
9 Questa è la storia di Noè. Noè era un uomo giusto, integro tra i suoi contemporanei, e camminava con Dio!	9 This is the story of Noah: Noah was a good man, an upright man among his contemporaries, and hewalked with God.
10 Noè generò tre figli: Sem, Cam e Iafet.	10 Noah fathered three sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth.
11 Or la terra era corrotta al cospetto di Dio e piena di violenza.	11 God saw that the earth was corrupt and ful of lawlessness.
12 Dio mirò la terra ed ecco: era corrotta; poiché ogni uomo aveva corrotto la propria condotta sopra la terra.	12 God looked at the earth: it was corrupt, for corrupt were the ways of al living things on earth.
13 Allora Dio disse a Noè: "Mi son deciso: la fine di tutti gli uomini è arrivata, poiché la terra, per causa loro, è piena di violenza; ecco, io li distruggerò insieme con la terra.	13 God said to Noah, 'I have decided that the end has come for al living things, for the earth is full oflawlessness because of human beings. So I am now about to destroy them and the earth.
14 Fatti un'arca di legno resinoso. Farai tale arca a celle e la spalmerai di bitume dentro e fuori.	14 Make yourself an ark out of resinous wood. Make it of reeds and caulk it with pitch inside and out.
15 Ed ecco come la farai: l'arca avrà trecento cubiti di lunghezza, cinquanta di larghezza e trenta di altezza.	15 This is how to make it: the length of the ark is to be three hundred cubits, its breadth fifty cubits, andits height thirty cubits.
16 Farai all'arca un tetto e un cubito più su la terminerai; di fianco le metterai la porta. La farai a ripiani: inferiore, medio e superiore.	16 Make a roof to the ark, building it up to a cubit higher. Put the entrance in the side of the ark, which isto be made with lower, second and third decks.
17 Ed ecco io manderò il diluvio delle acque sulla terra, per distruggere ogni carne in cui è alito di vita sotto il cielo; tutto quanto è sulla terra dovrà perire.	17 'For my part I am going to send the flood, the waters, on earth, to destroy al living things having thebreath of life under heaven; everything on earth is to perish.
18 Con te però stabilirò la mia alleanza: entrerai nell'arca tu e i tuoi figli, tua moglie e le mogli dei figli tuoi con te.	18 But with you I shal establish my covenant and you wil go aboard the ark, yourself, your sons, yourwife, and your sons' wives along with you.
19 E di tutto ciò che vive, di ogni carne, fanne entrare nell'arca due di ogni specie per farli sopravvivere con te; siano un maschio e una femmina:	19 From al living creatures, from al living things, you must take two of each kind aboard the ark, to savetheir lives with yours; they must be a male and a female.
20 dei volatili, secondo la loro specie, del bestiame, secondo la loro specie, e di tutti i rettili della terra, secondo la loro specie; due tra tutti verranno con te per sopravvivere.	20 Of every species of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that creeps along theground, two must go with you so that their lives may be saved.
21 Tu poi prenditi ogni sorta di cibo da mangiare, e radunalo presso di te, e sarà nutrimento per te e per loro".	21 For your part, provide yourself with eatables of al kinds, and lay in a store of them, to serve as foodfor yourself and them.'
22 E Noè fece tutto come Dio gli aveva comandato.	22 Noah did this; exactly as God commanded him, he did.
