1 Samuel 22

1 David departed from there and escaped to the cave of Adullam; and when his brothers and all his father's house heard it, they went down there to him.	1 David partió de allí y se puso a salvo en la caverna de Adulam. Al enterarse, sus hermanos y toda la casa de su padre bajaron a unirse con él.
2 And every one who was in distress, and every one who was in debt, and every one who was discontented, gathered to him; and he became captain over them. And there were with him about four hundred men.	2 Además, se le juntaron todos los que estaban en algún aprieto, cargados de deudas o descontentos de la vida. Así llegó a ser jefe de unos cuatrocientos hombres.
3 And David went from there to Mizpeh of Moab; and he said to the king of Moab, "Pray let my father and my mother stay with you, till I know what God will do for me."	3 De allí David se fue a Mispé de Moab y dijo al rey de Moab: «Deja que mi padre y mi madre vivan entre ustedes, hasta que yo sepa lo que Dios va a hacer conmigo».
4 And he left them with the king of Moab, and they stayed with him all the time that David was in the stronghold.	4 Luego los llevó a la presencia del rey de Moab, y ellos se quedaron con él todo el tiempo que David estuvo en el refugio.
5 Then the prophet Gad said to David, "Do not remain in the stronghold; depart, and go into the land of Judah." So David departed, and went into the forest of Hereth.	5 El profeta Gad dijo a David: «¡No te quedes en el refugio! Entra en el país de Judá». Entonces David partió y entró en el bosque de Járet.
6 Now Saul heard that David was discovered, and the men who were with him. Saul was sitting at Gibe-ah, under the tamarisk tree on the height, with his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing about him.	6 Saúl se enteró de que David y sus compañeros habían sido descubiertos. El se encontraba entonces en Guibeá, sentado debajo del tamarisco del lugar alto; tenía su espada en la mano y todos sus servidores estaban de pie en torno de él.
7 And Saul said to his servants who stood about him, "Hear now, you Benjaminites; will the son of Jesse give every one of you fields and vineyards, will he make you all commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds,	7 Saúl dijo a sus servidores: «¡Escuchen, benjaminitas! ¿Acaso el hijo de Jesé también les dará a todos ustedes campos y viñas, y los hará a todos jefes de mil y de cien hombres,
8 that all of you have conspired against me? No one discloses to me when my son makes a league with the son of Jesse, none of you is sorry for me or discloses to me that my son has stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as at this day."	8 para que hayan conspirado contra mí? Nadie me avisa nada cuando mi hijo pacta con el hijo de Jesé. Ninguno de ustedes se conduele conmigo, ni me revela que mi hijo sublevó contra mí a mi esclavo, para que me tienda acechanzas, como sucede en el día de hoy?»
9 Then answered Doeg the Edomite, who stood by the servants of Saul, "I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub,	9 Entonces intervino Doeg, el edomita, que estaba de pie junto a los servidores de Saúl, y dijo: «Yo vi al hijo de Jesé cuando llegó a Nob, a ver a Ajimélec, hijo de Ajitub.
10 and he inquired of the LORD for him, and gave him provisions, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine."	10 Ajimélec consultó por él al Señor, le dio provisiones y le entregó la espada de Goliat, el filisteo».
11 Then the king sent to summon Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father's house, the priests who were at Nob; and all of them came to the king.	11 El rey mandó llamar al sacerdote Ajimélec, hijo de Ajitub, y a toda su casa paterna, los sacerdotes de Nob. Todos ellos comparecieron ante el rey,
12 And Saul said, "Hear now, son of Ahitub." And he answered, "Here I am, my lord."	12 y Saúl dijo: «¡Escucha bien, hijo de Ajitub!». «A tus órdenes, rey», respondió él.
13 And Saul said to him, "Why have you conspired against me, you and the son of Jesse, in that you have given him bread and a sword, and have inquired of God for him, so that he has risen against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?"	13 Saúl añadió: «¿Por qué han conspirado contra mí, tú y el hijo de Jesé? Tú le has dado pan y una espada, y has consultado a Dios por él, para que se subleve contra mí y me tienda acechanzas, como sucede en el día de hoy».
14 Then Ahimelech answered the king, "And who among all your servants is so faithful as David, who is the king's son-in-law, and captain over your bodyguard, and honored in your house?	14 Ajimélec respondió al rey: «¿Hay entre todos tus servidores alguien tan de confianza como David? El es yerno del rey, es jefe de tu guardia personal y todos lo honran en tu casa.
15 Is today the first time that I have inquired of God for him? No! Let not the king impute anything to his servant or to all the house of my father; for your servant has known nothing of all this, much or little."	15 ¿O acaso es esta la primera vez que consulto a Dios por él? ¡No, lejos de mí! Que el rey no levante ningún cargo contra tu servidor ni contra toda su casa paterna, porque tu servidor no sabía absolutamente nada de este asunto».
16 And the king said, "You shall surely die, Ahimelech, you and all your father's house."	16 Pero el rey replicó: «¡Morirás sin remedio, Ajimélec, tú y toda tu casa paterna!».
17 And the king said to the guard who stood about him, "Turn and kill the priests of the LORD; because their hand also is with David, and they knew that he fled, and did not disclose it to me." But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the LORD.	17 Luego el rey dijo a los de su escolta, que estaban apostados junto a él: «¡Vuélvanse y maten a los sacerdotes del Señor, porque también ellos están de parte de David! Aun sabiendo que él huía, no me lo denunciaron». Pero los servidores del rey no quisieron extender su mano para ultimar a los sacerdotes del Señor.
18 Then the king said to Doeg, "You turn and fall upon the priests." And Doeg the Edomite turned and fell upon the priests, and he killed on that day eighty-five persons who wore the linen ephod.	18 Entonces el rey dijo a Doeg: «Vuélvete y mátalos tú». Doeg se volvió y acometió contra los sacerdotes; así mató aquel día a ochenta y cinco hombres que vestían el efod de lino.
19 And Nob, the city of the priests, he put to the sword; both men and women, children and sucklings, oxen, asses and sheep, he put to the sword.	19 En Nob, la ciudad de los sacerdotes, Saúl pasó al filo de la espada a hombres y mujeres, niños y pequeños, bueyes, asnos y ovejas.
20 But one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped and fled after David.	20 Sólo pudo escapar un hijo de Ajimélec, hijo de Ajitub, llamado Abiatar, que huyó a reunirse con David
21 And Abiathar told David that Saul had killed the priests of the LORD.	21 y le contó que Saúl había dado muerte a los sacerdotes del Señor.
22 And David said to Abiathar, "I knew on that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul. I have occasioned the death of all the persons of your father's house.	22 David dijo a Abiatar: «Ya sabía yo aquel día que Doeg, el edomita, estaba allí presente y que no dejaría de informar a Saúl. Yo hice que las cosas se volvieran contra toda su casa paterna.
23 Stay with me, fear not; for he that seeks my life seeks your life; with me you shall be in safekeeping."	23 Pero quédate conmigo y no temas. El que atenta contra tu vida, atenta contra la mía. Junto a mí, estarás bien protegido».
