Hebrews 10

1 For since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices which are continually offered year after year, make perfect those who draw near.	1 La Ley, en efecto –al no tener más que la sombra de los bienes futuros y no la misma realidad de las cosas– con los sacrificios repetidos año tras año en forma ininterrumpida, es incapaz de perfeccionar a aquellos que se acercan a Dios.
2 Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered? If the worshipers had once been cleansed, they would no longer have any consciousness of sin.	2 De lo contrario, no se hubieran ofrecido más esos sacrificios, porque los que participan de ellos, al quedar purificados una vez para siempre, ya no tendrían conciencia de ningún pecado.
3 But in these sacrifices there is a reminder of sin year after year.	3 En cambio, estos sacrificios renuevan cada año el recuerdo del pecado,
4 For it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins.	4 porque es imposible que la sangre de toros y chivos quite los pecados.
5 Consequently, when Christ came into the world, he said, "Sacrifices and offerings thou hast not desired, but a body hast thou prepared for me;	5 Por eso, Cristo, al entrar en el mundo, dijo: "Tú no has querido sacrificio ni oblación; en cambio, me has dado un cuerpo.
6 in burnt offerings and sin offerings thou hast taken no pleasure.	6 No has mirado con agrado los holocaustos ni los sacrificios expiatorios.
7 Then I said, 'Lo, I have come to do thy will, O God,' as it is written of me in the roll of the book."	7 Entonces dije: Aquí estoy, yo vengo –como está escrito de mí en el libro de la Ley– para hacer, Dios, tu voluntad".
8 When he said above, "Thou hast neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings" (these are offered according to the law),	8 El comienza diciendo: "Tú no has querido ni has mirado con agrado los sacrificios, los holocaustos, ni los sacrificios expiatorios", a pesar de que están prescritos por la Ley.
9 then he added, "Lo, I have come to do thy will." He abolishes the first in order to establish the second.	9 Y luego añade: "Aquí estoy, yo vengo para hacer tu voluntad". Así declara abolido el primer régimen para establecer el segundo.
10 And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.	10 Y en virtud de esta voluntad quedamos santificados por la oblación del cuerpo de Jesucristo, hecha de una vez para siempre.
11 And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.	11 Cada sacerdote se presenta diariamente para cumplir su ministerio y ofrecer muchas veces los mismos sacrificios, que son totalmente ineficaces para quitar el pecado.
12 But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God,	12 Cristo, en cambio, después de haber ofrecido por los pecados un único Sacrificio, se sentó para siempre a la derecha de Dios,
13 then to wait until his enemies should be made a stool for his feet.	13 donde espera que sus enemigos sean puestos debajo de sus pies.
14 For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.	14 Y así, mediante una sola oblación, él ha perfeccionado para siempre a los que santifica.
15 And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying,	15 El Espíritu Santo atestigua todo esto, porque después de haber anunciado:
16 "This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put my laws on their hearts, and write them on their minds,"	16 "Esta es la Alianza que haré con ellos después de aquellos días, dice el Señor: Yo pondré mis leyes en su corazón y las grabaré en su conciencia,
17 then he adds, "I will remember their sins and their misdeeds no more."	17 y no me acordaré más de sus pecados ni de sus iniquidades".
18 Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin.	18 Y si los pecados están perdonados, ya no hay necesidad de ofrecer por ellos ninguna oblación.
19 Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus,	19 Por lo tanto, hermanos, tenemos plena seguridad de que podemos entrar en el Santuario por la sangre de Jesús,
20 by the new and living way which he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh,	20 siguiendo el camino nuevo y viviente que él nos abrió a través del velo del Templo, que es su carne.
21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God,	21 También tenemos un Sumo Sacerdote insigne al frente de la casa de Dios.
22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.	22 Acerquémonos, entonces, con un corazón sincero y llenos de fe, purificados interiormente de toda mala conciencia y con el cuerpo lavado por el agua pura.
23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful;	23 Mantengamos firmemente la confesión de nuestra esperanza, porque aquel que ha hecho la promesa es fiel.
24 and let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,	24 Velemos los unos por los otros, para estimularnos en el amor y en las buenas obras.
25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.	25 No desertemos de nuestras asambleas, como suelen hacerlo algunos; al contrario, animémonos mutuamente, tanto más cuanto que vemos acercarse el día.
26 For if we sin deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,	26 Porque si después de haber recibido el pleno conocimiento de la verdad, pecamos deliberadamente, ya no hay más sacrificio por los pecados.
27 but a fearful prospect of judgment, and a fury of fire which will consume the adversaries.	27 Sólo resta esperar con terror el juicio y el fuego ardiente que consumirá a los rebeldes.
28 A man who has violated the law of Moses dies without mercy at the testimony of two or three witnesses.	28 El que viola la Ley de Moisés, es condenado a muerte irremisiblemente por el testimonio de dos o tres testigos.
29 How much worse punishment do you think will be deserved by the man who has spurned the Son of God, and profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and outraged the Spirit of grace?	29 Piensen, entonces, qué castigo merecerá el que pisoteó al Hijo de Dios, el que profanó la sangre de la Alianza con la cual fue santificado y ultrajó al Espíritu de la gracia.
30 For we know him who said, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay." And again, "The Lord will judge his people."	30 Porque nosotros conocemos a aquel que ha dicho: La venganza me pertenece y yo daré la retribución. Y además: El Señor juzgará a su pueblo.
31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.	31 ¡Verdaderamente es algo terrible caer en las manos del Dios viviente!
32 But recall the former days when, after you were enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings,	32 Recuerden los primeros tiempos: apenas habían sido iluminados y ya tuvieron que soportar un rudo y doloroso combate,
33 sometimes being publicly exposed to abuse and affliction, and sometimes being partners with those so treated.	33 unas veces expuestos públicamente a injurias y atropellos, y otras, solidarizándose con los que eran tratados de esa manera.
34 For you had compassion on the prisoners, and you joyfully accepted the plundering of your property, since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an abiding one.	34 Ustedes compartieron entonces los sufrimientos de los que estaban en la cárcel y aceptaron con alegría que los despojaran de sus bienes, sabiendo que tenían una riqueza mejor y permanente.
35 Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.	35 No pierdan entonces la confianza, a la que está reservada una gran recompensa.
36 For you have need of endurance, so that you may do the will of God and receive what is promised.	36 Ustedes necesitan constancia para cumplir la voluntad de Dios y entrar en posesión de la promesa.
37 "For yet a little while, and the coming one shall come and shall not tarry;	37 Porque todavía falta un poco, muy poco tiempo, y el que debe venir vendrá sin tardar.
38 but my righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him."	38 El justo vivirá por la fe, pero si se vuelve atrás, dejaré de amarlo.
39 But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and keep their souls.	39 Nosotros no somos de los que se vuelven atrás para su perdición, sino que vivimos en la fe para preservar nuestra alma.
