Deuteronomy 3

1 "Then we turned and went up the way to Bashan; and Og the king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Edre-i.	1 Siamo partiti, risalendo per la strada di Basan. E Og, re di Basan, è uscito con tutto il suo popolo contro di noi in battaglia a Edrei.
2 But the LORD said to me, 'Do not fear him; for I have given him and all his people and his land into your hand; and you shall do to him as you did to Sihon the king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon.'	2 E il Signore mi ha detto: "Non temerlo; io infatti ho messo in tuo potere lui, tutto il suo popolo e la sua terra. Lo tratterai come hai trattato Sicon, re degli Amorrei, che abitava in Chesbon".
3 So the LORD our God gave into our hand Og also, the king of Bashan, and all his people; and we smote him until no survivor was left to him.	3 Il Signore nostro Dio ha messo nelle nostre mani anche Og, re di Basan, con tutto il suo popolo; lo abbiamo battuto fino a non lasciargli nessun superstite.
4 And we took all his cities at that time--there was not a city which we did not take from them--sixty cities, the whole region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.	4 Ci siamo impadroniti di tutte le sue città; non ci fu una città che non togliessimo loro. Sessanta città, tutta la zona di Argob, la capitale di Og, in Basan,
5 All these were cities fortified with high walls, gates, and bars, besides very many unwalled villages.	5 tutte città fortificate da alte mura, da porte e sbarre; oltre le numerosissime città dei Perizziti.
6 And we utterly destroyed them, as we did to Sihon the king of Heshbon, destroying every city, men, women, and children.	6 Le abbiamo votate all'anatema come avevamo fatto per Sicon, re di Chesbon, colpendo di anatema ogni città abitata, le donne e i fanciulli,
7 But all the cattle and the spoil of the cities we took as our booty.	7 ma tutto il bestiame e il bottino della città l'abbiamo catturato per noi.
8 So we took the land at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, from the valley of the Arnon to Mount Hermon	8 Così in quel tempo abbiamo preso la terra dalla mano dei due re degli Amorrei al di là del Giordano, dal torrente Arnon fino al monte Ermon.

11 (For only Og the king of Bashan was left of the remnant of the Rephaim; behold, his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbah of the Ammonites? Ho assegnato a Ruben e a Gad metà della montagna di Galaad con le città,
13 the rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, that is, all the region of Argob, I gave to the half-tribe of Manasseh. (The whole of that Bashan is called the land of Rephaim.	13 il resto di Galaad e tutto Basan, regno di Og, l'ho dato a metà della tribù di Manasse. Tutta la zona dell'Argob e tutto Basan, si chiamava terra dei Refaim.
14 Jair the Manassite took all the region of Argob, that is, Bashan, as far as the border of the Geshurites and the Ma-acathites, and called the villages after his own name, Havvoth-jair, as it is to this day.)	14 Iair, figlio di Manasse, ha preso tutta la zona dell'Argob fino alla frontiera dei Ghesuriti e dei Maacatiti e, dal suo nome, quei luoghi ancora oggi sono chiamati a Basan villaggi di Iair.

16 and to the Reubenites and the Gadites I gave the territory from Gilead as far as the valley of the Arnon, with the middle of the valley as a boundary, as far over as the river Jabbok, the boundary of the Ammonites;	16 Ai Rubeniti e ai Gaditi ho assegnato da Galaad al torrente Arnon, a metà del fiume col territorio fino al torrente Iabbok, frontiera dei figli di Ammon,
17 the Arabah also, with the Jordan as the boundary, from Chinnereth as far as the sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, under the slopes of Pisgah on the east.	17 inoltre l'Araba con il Giordano, col suo territorio da Genèsaret fino al Mare dell'Araba, Mar Morto, sotto i contrafforti del Pisga, a oriente.
18 "And I commanded you at that time, saying, 'The LORD your God has given you this land to possess; all your men of valor shall pass over armed before your brethren the people of Israel.	18 In quel tempo vi ho ordinato: "Il Signore vostro Dio vi ha dato in possesso questa terra. In armi precederete i vostri fratelli, i figli d'Israele, tutti voi uomini di guerra;
19 But your wives, your little ones, and your cattle (I know that you have many cattle) shall remain in the cities which I have given you,	19 soltanto le vostre donne, i vostri fanciulli e i vostri greggi -- so che avete proprietà numerose -- resteranno nelle città che vi ho assegnate,
20 until the LORD gives rest to your brethren, as to you, and they also occupy the land which the LORD your God gives them beyond the Jordan; then you shall return every man to his possession which I have given you.'	20 finché il Signore non abbia installato i vostri fratelli, come ha fatto per voi, e anch'essi entrino in possesso della terra che il Signore vostro Dio dà loro al di là del Giordano; allora ritornerete ognuno al possesso che vi ho assegnato".
21 And I commanded Joshua at that time, 'Your eyes have seen all that the LORD your God has done to these two kings; so will the LORD do to all the kingdoms into which you are going over.	21 Allora ho ordinato a Giosuè: "I tuoi occhi vedono quanto il Signore vostro Dio ha fatto a quei due re: così il Signore farà a tutti i regni in cui tu stai per passare.
22 You shall not fear them; for it is the LORD your God who fights for you.'	22 Non abbiate paura di loro, poiché lo stesso Signore vostro Dio combatte per voi".
23 "And I besought the LORD at that time, saying,	23 In quel tempo ho chiesto grazia al Signore, dicendo:
24 'O Lord GOD, thou hast only begun to show thy servant thy greatness and thy mighty hand; for what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do such works and mighty acts as thine?	24 "Mio Signore Dio, tu hai incominciato a mostrare al tuo servo la tua grandezza e la tua mano potente; perché, quale Dio in cielo e in terra eguaglia le tue opere e le tue gesta?
25 Let me go over, I pray, and see the good land beyond the Jordan, that goodly hill country, and Lebanon.'	25 Concedimi di attraversare, per vedere la terra buona che è al di là del Giordano, quella buona montagna e il Libano!".
26 But the LORD was angry with me on your account, and would not hearken to me; and the LORD said to me, 'Let it suffice you; speak no more to me of this matter.	26 Ma il Signore si è irritato contro di me a causa vostra, e non mi ha ascoltato. Mi ha detto: "Basta! Non aggiungere più parola con me su questo argomento.
27 Go up to the top of Pisgah, and lift up your eyes westward and northward and southward and eastward, and behold it with your eyes; for you shall not go over this Jordan.	27 Sali sulla vetta del Pisga, alza gli occhi a occidente, a settentrione, a mezzodì, a oriente, e contempla coi tuoi occhi: poiché tu non attraverserai questo Giordano!
28 But charge Joshua, and encourage and strengthen him; for he shall go over at the head of this people, and he shall put them in possession of the land which you shall see.'	28 Da' ordini a Giosuè, fortificalo, rendilo fermo. Egli attraverserà dinanzi a questo popolo e lo metterà in possesso della terra che tu contemplerai".
29 So we remained in the valley opposite Beth-peor.	29 Siamo quindi rimasti nella valle di fronte a Bet-Peor.
