Zechariah 7

1 In the fourth year of King Darius, the word of the LORD came to Zechariah in the fourth day of the ninth month, which is Chislev.	1 És történt, hogy Dáriusz király negyedik esztendejében, a kilencedik, azaz Kiszlev hónap negyedikén az Úr szózatot intézett Zakariáshoz.
2 Now the people of Bethel had sent Sharezer and Regem-melech and their men, to entreat the favor of the LORD,	2 Bételből elküldték ugyanis Száraszárt és Rogommeleket és társait az Úr házához, hogy esedezzenek az Úr színe előtt,
3 and to ask the priests of the house of the LORD of hosts and the prophets, "Should I mourn and fast in the fifth month, as I have done for so many years?"	3 és kérdezzék meg a Seregek Ura házának papjait meg a prófétákat: »Kell-e az ötödik hónapban gyászolnom és böjtölnöm, mint már számos esztendeje tettem?«
4 Then the word of the LORD of hosts came to me;	4 Ekkor a Seregek Ura a következő szózatot intézte hozzám:
5 "Say to all the people of the land and the priests, When you fasted and mourned in the fifth month and in the seventh, for these seventy years, was it for me that you fasted?	5 »Szólj az ország egész népéhez és a papokhoz, és mondd nekik: Amikor böjtöltetek és sírtatok az ötödik és a hetedik hónapban ez alatt a hetven esztendő alatt, vajon nekem böjtöltetek-e?
6 And when you eat and when you drink, do you not eat for yourselves and drink for yourselves?	6 És amikor ettetek és ittatok, vajon nem saját magatoknak ettetek-e és saját magatoknak ittatok-e?
7 When Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, with her cities round about her, and the South and the lowland were inhabited, were not these the words which the LORD proclaimed by the former prophets?"	7 Vajon nem ezek-e azok a szavak, amelyeket az Úr a régi próféták által akkor mondott, amikor még Jeruzsálem népes és gazdag volt a körülötte fekvő városokkal együtt, és a Délvidék és az Alföld is lakott volt?«
8 And the word of the LORD came to Zechariah, saying,	8 És az Úr a következő szózatot intézte Zakariáshoz:
9 "Thus says the LORD of hosts, Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy each to his brother,	9 »Így szól a Seregek Ura: ‘Igazságosan ítélkezzetek, és mindenki tegyen irgalmasságot és kegyességet testvérével;
10 do not oppress the widow, the fatherless, the sojourner, or the poor; and let none of you devise evil against his brother in your heart."	10 özvegyet és árvát, idegent és szegényt el ne nyomjatok, és senki se szőjön szívében gonosz terveket testvére ellen.’
11 But they refused to hearken, and turned a stubborn shoulder, and stopped their ears that they might not hear.	11 Ám ők nem akartak rá hallgatni és vonakodtak ezt elvállalni, és befogták fülüket, hogy ne halljanak.
12 They made their hearts like adamant lest they should hear the law and the words which the LORD of hosts had sent by his Spirit through the former prophets. Therefore great wrath came from the LORD of hosts.	12 És olyanná tették szívüket, mint a gyémánt, hogy ne hallják a törvényt és a szavakat, amelyeket a Seregek Ura küldött a Lelke által, a régi próféták által. Ezért nagy lett a Seregek Urának haragja,
13 "As I called, and they would not hear, so they called, and I would not hear," says the LORD of hosts,	13 és az történt, hogy amint ők nem hallgattak rá, amikor Ő szólt, úgy majd én nem hallgatom meg, ha ők kiáltanak – mondja a Seregek Ura. –
14 "and I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations which they had not known. Thus the land they left was desolate, so that no one went to and fro, and the pleasant land was made desolate."	14 És szétszórtam őket minden országba, melyeket nem ismertek; és földjük elhagyatottá lett, és nem volt jövő-menő, és a pompás földet sivataggá tették.«
