Amos 1

1 The words of Amos, who was among the shepherds of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.	1 - Parole di Amos che fu dei pastori di Tecue di quanto vide sopra Israele ai giorni di Ozia, re di Giuda, e ai giorni di Geroboamo, re d'Israele; due anni innanzi il terremoto.
2 And he said: "The LORD roars from Zion, and utters his voice from Jerusalem; the pastures of the shepherds mourn, and the top of Carmel withers."	2 E disse: «Il Signore da Sion ruggirà e da Gerusalemme alzerà la sua voce: e già sono afflitti i buoni pascoli dei pastori, e si seccò la vetta del Carmelo.
3 Thus says the LORD: "For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing sledges of iron.	3 Così dice il Signore: - Per tre misfatti di Damasco e per quattro io più non gliela risparmierò: perchè trebbiarono con carri di ferro Galaad.
4 So I will send a fire upon the house of Hazael, and it shall devour the strongholds of Ben-hadad.	4 E metterò il fuoco alla casa di Azael e divorerà i palazzi di Benadad.
5 I will break the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitants from the Valley of Aven, and him that holds the scepter from Beth-eden; and the people of Syria shall go into exile to Kir," says the LORD.	5 E spezzerò le sbarre delle porte di Damasco e sterminerò gli abitanti dal Campo dell'idolo e quello che tiene lo scettro dalla Casa delle delizie; e il popolo della Siria sarà deportato a Cirene, - dice il Signore.
6 Thus says the LORD: "For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment; because they carried into exile a whole people to deliver them up to Edom.	6 Così dice il Signore: - Per tre misfatti di Gaza e per quattro io più non gliela risparmierò: perchè hanno trascinato nella schiavitù le masse intere degli abitanti relegandoli nell'Idumea.
7 So I will send a fire upon the wall of Gaza, and it shall devour her strongholds.	7 E metterò il fuoco alle mura di Gaza e divorerà i suoi palazzi.
8 I will cut off the inhabitants from Ashdod, and him that holds the scepter from Ashkelon; I will turn my hand against Ekron; and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish," says the Lord GOD.	8 E sterminerò gli abitanti da Azoto e quello che tiene lo scettro da Ascalona; e rivolterò la mia mano sopra Accaron, e periranno i resti dei Filistei, - dice il Signore.
9 Thus says the LORD: "For three transgressions of Tyre, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment; because they delivered up a whole people to Edom, and did not remember the covenant of brotherhood.	9 Così dice il Signore: - Per tre misfatti di Tiro e per quattro io più non gliela risparmierò: perchè hanno confinato le masse intere degli abitanti nella schiavitù in Idumea, e non hanno ricordato l'alleanza fraterna.
10 So I will send a fire upon the wall of Tyre, and it shall devour her strongholds."	10 E metterò il fuoco alle mura di Tiro e divorerà i suoi palazzi. -
11 Thus says the LORD: "For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment; because he pursued his brother with the sword, and cast off all pity, and his anger tore perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever.	11 Così dice il Signore: - Per tre misfatti di Edom e per quattro io più non gliela risparmierò: perchè ha inseguito con la spada sguainata suo fratello, e ha violato con lui le leggi della pietà, e ha mantenuto implacabile il suo odio e conservato sino all'estremo il suo rancore.
12 So I will send a fire upon Teman, and it shall devour the strongholds of Bozrah."	12 E metterò il fuoco a Teman e divorerà i palazzi di Bosra, - dice il Signore.
13 Thus says the LORD: "For three transgressions of the Ammonites, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment; because they have ripped up women with child in Gilead, that they might enlarge their border.	13 Così dice il Signore: - Per tre misfatti dei figli di Ammon e per quattro io più non gliela risparmierò; perchè hanno sventrate le donne incinte di Galaad, per ampliare il loro confine.
14 So I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour her strongholds, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind;	14 E accenderò il fuoco nelle mura di Rabba e divorerà i suoi palazzi col clamore di giorno di battaglia e col turbine di un giorno di bufera.
15 and their king shall go into exile, he and his princes together," says the LORD.	15 E Melcom se ne andrà in schiavitù, egli e i suoi principi insieme, - dice il Signore.
