1 In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, by birth a Mede, who became king over the realm of the Chaldeans--	1 C’était la première année de Darius fils d’Artaxerxès, le Mède, qui régna sur le royaume de Kaldée.
2 in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, perceived in the books the number of years which, according to the word of the LORD to Jeremiah the prophet, must pass before the end of the desolations of Jerusalem, namely, seventy years.	2 En cette première année de son règne, moi Daniel j’étudiais les Écritures et je faisais le compte de ces 70 années qui doivent passer sur Jérusalem en ruines, comme cela a été révélé au prophète Jérémie.
3 Then I turned my face to the Lord God, seeking him by prayer and supplications with fasting and sackcloth and ashes.	3 Je tournai mon regard vers le Seigneur Dieu pour l’invoquer dans la prière et le supplier par le jeûne, le sac et la cendre.
4 I prayed to the LORD my God and made confession, saying, "O Lord, the great and terrible God, who keepest covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments,	4 Je suppliai Yahvé mon Dieu et je lui fis cette confession: “Ah mon Seigneur, Dieu grand et redoutable qui gardes l’alliance et ta miséricorde envers ceux qui t’aiment et observent tes commandements!
5 we have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from thy commandments and ordinances;	5 “Nous avons péché, nous avons commis l’injustice, nous avons été infidèles, nous nous sommes révoltés; nous nous sommes détournés de tes commandements et de tes lois.
6 we have not listened to thy servants the prophets, who spoke in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.	6 Nous n’avons pas écouté tes serviteurs les prophètes qui parlaient en ton nom à nos rois, à nos chefs et à nos pères, comme au peuple-du-pays.
7 To thee, O Lord, belongs righteousness, but to us confusion of face, as at this day, to the men of Judah, to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, those that are near and those that are far away, in all the lands to which thou hast driven them, because of the treachery which they have committed against thee.	7 “Toi, Seigneur, tu as été juste, et nous n’avons droit qu’à la honte comme en ce jour, nous les gens de Juda, les habitants de Jérusalem et tout Israël, qu’ils soient proches ou au loin dans tous les pays où tu nous as dispersés à cause des infidélités que nous avons commises contre toi.
8 To us, O Lord, belongs confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee.	8 “À nous, Yahvé, la honte, à nos rois, nos chefs et nos prêtres, car nous avons péché contre toi.
9 To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness; because we have rebelled against him,	9 Que le Seigneur notre Dieu ait miséricorde et pardonne, car nous nous sommes révoltés contre lui.
10 and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God by following his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.	10 “Nous n’avons pas obéi à Yahvé notre Dieu, nous n’avons pas marché selon les lois qu’il avait fait placer devant nous par ses serviteurs les prophètes.
11 All Israel has transgressed thy law and turned aside, refusing to obey thy voice. And the curse and oath which are written in the law of Moses the servant of God have been poured out upon us, because we have sinned against him.	11 Tout Israël a désobéi à ta Loi et s’est détourné de ta parole; aussi la malédiction et la menace qui sont écrites dans la loi de Moïse, serviteur de Dieu, sont-elles venues sur nous, car nous avions péché contre toi.
12 He has confirmed his words, which he spoke against us and against our rulers who ruled us, by bringing upon us a great calamity; for under the whole heaven there has not been done the like of what has been done against Jerusalem.	12 “Yahvé a accompli les paroles qu’il avait prononcées contre nous et contre les chefs qui nous gouvernaient. Il a fait venir contre nous un terrible malheur; on n’avait jamais vu sous le ciel ce qui est arrivé à Jérusalem.
13 As it is written in the law of Moses, all this calamity has come upon us, yet we have not entreated the favor of the LORD our God, turning from our iniquities and giving heed to thy truth.	13 “Le malheur est venu sur nous comme il est écrit dans la loi de Moïse, mais nous n’avons pas pour autant apaisé Yahvé notre Dieu en renonçant à notre mauvaise conduite et en faisant attention à sa vérité.
14 Therefore the LORD has kept ready the calamity and has brought it upon us; for the LORD our God is righteous in all the works which he has done, and we have not obeyed his voice.	14 C’est Yahvé qui a prévu ce malheur et l’a fait venir sur nous, car Yahvé notre Dieu est juste dans tout ce qu’il fait: nous n’avions pas écouté sa voix.
15 And now, O Lord our God, who didst bring thy people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast made thee a name, as at this day, we have sinned, we have done wickedly.	15 “Oui, Seigneur notre Dieu, toi qui as fait sortir ton peuple du pays d’Égypte par ta main puissante, c’est envers toi dont la renommée est éternelle, que nous avons péché et que nous avons été infidèles.
16 O Lord, according to all thy righteous acts, let thy anger and thy wrath turn away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy hill; because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people have become a byword among all who are round about us.	16 “Dans ta grande bonté, Seigneur, détourne ta colère et ta fureur de Jérusalem, ta ville, et de ta montagne sainte, car à cause de nos péchés et des péchés de nos pères Jérusalem et ton peuple sont un objet de moquerie pour tous ceux qui nous entourent.
17 Now therefore, O our God, hearken to the prayer of thy servant and to his supplications, and for thy own sake, O Lord, cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary, which is desolate.	17 “Toi donc, notre Dieu, écoute la prière de ton serviteur et sa supplication. Pour ton honneur, Seigneur, fais briller ton visage sur ton sanctuaire en ruines.
18 O my God, incline thy ear and hear; open thy eyes and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name; for we do not present our supplications before thee on the ground of our righteousness, but on the ground of thy great mercy.	18 “Prête l’oreille, ô mon Dieu, écoute, ouvre tes yeux, regarde notre ruine et la ville sur laquelle ton Nom a été prononcé. Nous te supplions: nous n’attendons rien de nos mérites, mais nous confions en ta grande miséricorde.
19 O LORD, hear; O LORD, forgive; O LORD, give heed and act; delay not, for thy own sake, O my God, because thy city and thy people are called by thy name."	19 “Écoute, Seigneur, pardonne, Seigneur, regarde, Seigneur. Agis ô mon Dieu, ne tarde pas par amour de toi-même, car ta ville et ton peuple sont appelés de ton nom.”
20 While I was speaking and praying, confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for the holy hill of my God;	20 Je parlais encore, je priais et confessais mon péché et celui de mon peuple Israël et je faisais monter ma supplication devant Yahvé mon Dieu sur sa sainte montagne -
21 while I was speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the first, came to me in swift flight at the time of the evening sacrifice.	21 je parlais et priais encore lorsque Gabriel arriva vers moi en volant, celui que j’avais vu en vision au commencement. C’était l’heure de l’offrande du soir.
22 He came and he said to me, "O Daniel, I have now come out to give you wisdom and understanding.	22 Il vint vers moi et me dit: “Daniel, je suis venu maintenant pour que tu puisses comprendre.
23 At the beginning of your supplications a word went forth, and I have come to tell it to you, for you are greatly beloved; therefore consider the word and understand the vision.	23 “Au commencement de ta prière, une parole est sortie et je suis venu pour te la faire connaître, car tu es aimé de Dieu. Applique ton esprit à cette parole et comprends la vision:
24 "Seventy weeks of years are decreed concerning your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to put an end to sin, and to atone for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal both vision and prophet, and to anoint a most holy place.	24 “Pour ton peuple et ta ville sainte, 70 semaines ont été fixées pour faire cesser l’injustice, pour mettre un terme au péché, pour expier l’offense, pour faire venir la justice éternelle, pour accomplir vision et prophétie, pour oindre le Saint des saints.
25 Know therefore and understand that from the going forth of the word to restore and build Jerusalem to the coming of an anointed one, a prince, there shall be seven weeks. Then for sixty-two weeks it shall be built again with squares and moat, but in a troubled time.	25 “Comprends donc bien ceci: Depuis que l’ordre a été donné de reconstruire Jérusalem jusqu’à un chef consacré, ce seront 7 semaines; puis 62 semaines pour reconstruire la place et les fossés. Puis viendra la fin.
26 And after the sixty-two weeks, an anointed one shall be cut off, and shall have nothing; and the people of the prince who is to come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. Its end shall come with a flood, and to the end there shall be war; desolations are decreed.	26 “Après les 62 semaines, un homme consacré sera mis à mort, bien que l’on n’ait pas trouvé de faute en lui. Un peuple viendra dont le chef détruira la ville et le Temple. Et jusqu’à la fin il n’y aura que guerre et désastres.
27 And he shall make a strong covenant with many for one week; and for half of the week he shall cause sacrifice and offering to cease; and upon the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate, until the decreed end is poured out on the desolator."	27 “Durant une semaine il consolidera son alliance avec beaucoup; le temps d’une demi-semaine il fera cesser le sacrifice et l’offrande. Sur le côté du Temple se dressera l’Abomination de la Désolation jusqu’au temps fixé pour la ruine du dévastateur.”
