Jeremiah 8

1 "At that time, says the LORD, the bones of the kings of Judah, the bones of its princes, the bones of the priests, the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be brought out of their tombs;	1 In quel tempo, dice il Signore, saran gettate fuora de' lor sepolcri le ossa dei re di Giuda, e le ossa de' suoi principi, e le ossa de' sacerdoti, e le ossa de' profeti, e le ossa di quegli, che abitaron Gerusalemme:
2 and they shall be spread before the sun and the moon and all the host of heaven, which they have loved and served, which they have gone after, and which they have sought and worshiped; and they shall not be gathered or buried; they shall be as dung on the surface of the ground.	2 E le esporranno al sole, e alla luna, e a tutta la milizia del cielo, che son le cose, ch'essi hanno amato, e alle quali hanno servito, e dietro alle quali andavano, e le quali cercavano, e adoravano. Le ossa non saranno raccolte, né seppellite: saran come sterco sulla faccia della terra.
3 Death shall be preferred to life by all the remnant that remains of this evil family in all the places where I have driven them, says the LORD of hosts.	3 E ameranno la morte più che la vita tutti quelli, che di questa stirpe pessima resteranno in tutti i luoghi abbandonati, dov' io gli ho cacciati, dice il Signore degli eserciti.
4 "You shall say to them, Thus says the LORD: When men fall, do they not rise again? If one turns away, does he not return?	4 Ma tu dirai loro: Queste cose dice il Signore: Forse colui, che cade, non si rialza? E chi è uscito di strada non la ripiglia?
5 Why then has this people turned away in perpetual backsliding? They hold fast to deceit, they refuse to return.	5 E perchè adunque questo popolo di Gerusalemme si è ribellato con ribellione pertinace? Hanno stretta la menzogna, e non han voluto ricredersi.
6 I have given heed and listened, but they have not spoken aright; no man repents of his wickedness, saying, 'What have I done?' Every one turns to his own course, like a horse plunging headlong into battle.	6 Io li considerai, e gli ascoltai: nissuno parla di quel, che è bene, nissuno è, che faccia penitenza del suo peccato, e dica: Che ho fatt'io? Si sono tutti rivolti alla loro carriera come cavallo, che impetuosamente va alla battaglia.
7 Even the stork in the heavens knows her times; and the turtledove, swallow, and crane keep the time of their coming; but my people know not the ordinance of the LORD.	7 Il nibbio nell'aria conosce il suo tempo; la tortorella, e la rondine, e la cicogna osservan costantemente il tempo del lor passaggio; ma il mio popolo non ha conosciuto il giudizio del Signore.
8 "How can you say, 'We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us? But, behold, the false pen of the scribes has made it into a lie.	8 Come mai dite: Noi siamo saggi, la legge del Signore è nelle nostre mani? veramente lo stile bugiardo degli scribi ha vergato menzogne.
9 The wise men shall be put to shame, they shall be dismayed and taken; lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD, and what wisdom is in them?	9 I saggi sono confusi, atterriti, e presi; perocché rigettarono la Parola del Signore, e non è in essi nissuna saggezza.
10 Therefore I will give their wives to others and their fields to conquerors, because from the least to the greatest every one is greedy for unjust gain; from prophet to priest every one deals falsely.	10 Per questo io darò a' forestieri le mogli loro, e i loro poderi ad altri eredi: perchè dal più piccolo fino al più grande tutti van dietro all'avarizia: dal profeta fino al sacerdote tutti sono bugiardi.
11 They have healed the wound of my people lightly, saying, 'Peace, peace,' when there is no peace.	11 E sanavano la piaga della figlia del popol mio con burlarsi di lei, dicendo: Pace, pace, quando non era pace,
12 Were they ashamed when they committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamed; they did not know how to blush. Therefore they shall fall among the fallen; when I punish them, they shall be overthrown, says the LORD.	12 Sono confusi, perchè hanno fatto cose abbominevoli: anzi non son veramente confusi, e non han saputo arrossire; per questo cadranno tra que', che periscono, nel tempo, in cui saran visitati, periranno, dice il Signore.
13 When I would gather them, says the LORD, there are no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the fig tree; even the leaves are withered, and what I gave them has passed away from them."	13 Io li raunerò tutti, dice il Signore: Le viti son senza uve, e la ficaia è senza fichi, le foglie stesse sono cadute, e le cose, ch'io diedi loro, se ne son' ite.
14 Why do we sit still? Gather together, let us go into the fortified cities and perish there; for the LORD our God has doomed us to perish, and has given us poisoned water to drink, because we have sinned against the LORD.	14 Perchè stiamo a sedere? Raunatevi, e andiamo nella città forte, ed ivi stiam in silenzio; perocché il Signore Dio nostro ci ha condannati al silenzio, e ci ha dato a bere acqua di fiele: perchè contro il Signore abbiam peccato.
15 We looked for peace, but no good came, for a time of healing, but behold, terror.	15 Aspettavamo la pace, e questo bene non venne: il tempo di guarigione, ed ecco terrori.
16 "The snorting of their horses is heard from Dan; at the sound of the neighing of their stallions the whole land quakes. They come and devour the land and all that fills it, the city and those who dwell in it.	16 Da Dan si è udito il nitrire de' suoi cavalli, al romore strepitoso de' suoi combattenti è stata scommossa tutta la terra. E son venuti, e han divorata la terra, e le sue ricchezze; le città, e i loro abitatori.
17 For behold, I am sending among you serpents, adders which cannot be charmed, and they shall bite you," says the LORD.	17 Imperocché ecco che io manderò contro di voi de' serpenti, e de' basilischi, che non s'incantano; e vi morderanno, dice il Signore:
18 My grief is beyond healing, my heart is sick within me.	18 Il mio dolore passa ogni dolore: io porto un cuore angustiato.
19 Hark, the cry of the daughter of my people from the length and breadth of the land: "Is the LORD not in Zion? Is her King not in her?" "Why have they provoked me to anger with their graven images, and with their foreign idols?"	19 Odo la voce della figlia del popol mio: Non è egli più il Signore in Sionne? O il suo Re non è egli più dentro di lei? E perchè adunque mi provocarono a sdegno co' loro simolacri, e con vanità forestiere?
20 "The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved."	20 La mietitura è passata, l'estate è finita, e noi non siam liberati.
21 For the wound of the daughter of my people is my heart wounded, I mourn, and dismay has taken hold on me.	21 L'afflizione della figlia del popol mio mi affligge, e mi contrista; l'orrore si è impossessato di me.
22 Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then has the health of the daughter of my people not been restored?	22 Non vi è egli resina in Galaad? O non hai tu verun medico? Perche adunque non è ella rammarginata la ferita della figliuola del popol mio?
