Jeremiah 42

1 Then all the commanders of the forces, and Johanan the son of Kareah and Azariah the son of Hoshaiah, and all the people from the least to the greatest, came near	1 Odament a seregek minden vezére, Johanán, Kárea fia, Jaazonja, Hósea fia és az egész nép apraja-nagyja,
2 and said to Jeremiah the prophet, "Let our supplication come before you, and pray to the LORD your God for us, for all this remnant (for we are left but a few of many, as your eyes see us),	2 és így szóltak Jeremiás prófétához: »Jusson színed elé könyörgésünk, és imádkozz értünk az Úrhoz, a te Istenedhez, ezért az egész maradékért! Mert kevesen maradtunk meg a sokból, amint saját szemeddel láthatsz minket.
3 that the LORD your God may show us the way we should go, and the thing that we should do."	3 Adja tudtul nekünk az Úr, a te Istened azt az utat, amelyen járnunk kell, és azt az igét, amelyet meg kell cselekednünk!«
4 Jeremiah the prophet said to them, "I have heard you; behold, I will pray to the LORD your God according to your request, and whatever the LORD answers you I will tell you; I will keep nothing back from you."	4 Erre Jeremiás próféta azt mondta nekik: »Hallottam. Íme, én imádkozom az Úrhoz, a ti Istenetekhez szavaitok szerint; azután minden szót tudtotokra adok, melyet az Úr válaszol nektek; nem titkolok el előletek semmit.«
5 Then they said to Jeremiah, "May the LORD be a true and faithful witness against us if we do not act according to all the word with which the LORD your God sends you to us.	5 Ők pedig mondták Jeremiásnak: »Az Úr legyen ellenünk igaz és megbízható tanú, ha nem cselekszünk mindenben annak az igének megfelelően, mellyel az Úr, a te Istened hozzánk küld téged!
6 Whether it is good or evil, we will obey the voice of the LORD our God to whom we are sending you, that it may be well with us when we obey the voice of the LORD our God."	6 Akár jó, akár rossz, hallgatunk az Úr, a mi Istenünk szavára, akihez küldünk téged; hogy jó dolgunk legyen, azért hallgatunk az Úr, a mi Istenünk szavára.«
7 At the end of ten days the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah.	7 Történt pedig tíz nap múlva, hogy az Úr igéje hangzott Jeremiáshoz.
8 Then he summoned Johanan the son of Kareah and all the commanders of the forces who were with him, and all the people from the least to the greatest,	8 Akkor hívatta Johanánt, Káree fiát és a seregek valamennyi vezérét, akik vele voltak, meg az egész nép apraját-nagyját,
9 and said to them, "Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, to whom you sent me to present your supplication before him:	9 és ezt mondta nekik: »Így szól az Úr, Izrael Istene, akihez küldtetek engem, hogy könyörgéseteket színe elé terjesszem:
10 If you will remain in this land, then I will build you up and not pull you down; I will plant you, and not pluck you up; for I repent of the evil which I did to you.	10 Ha itt maradtok ebben az országban, felépítelek titeket, és nem rombollak le, elültetlek titeket, és nem gyomlállak ki; mert megbántam a rosszat, amit veletek tettem.
11 Do not fear the king of Babylon, of whom you are afraid; do not fear him, says the LORD, for I am with you, to save you and to deliver you from his hand.	11 Ne féljetek Babilon királyától, akitől féltek! Ne féljetek tőle – mondja az Úr –, mert én veletek vagyok, hogy megszabadítsalak benneteket, és megmentselek titeket kezéből!
12 I will grant you mercy, that he may have mercy on you and let you remain in your own land.	12 Irgalmat gyakorolok veletek, és ő is irgalmazni fog nektek: visszaenged titeket földetekre.
13 But if you say, 'We will not remain in this land,' disobeying the voice of the LORD your God	13 De ha azt mondjátok: ‘Nem maradunk ebben az országban’, és nem hallgattok az Úrnak, a ti Isteneteknek szavára,
14 and saying, 'No, we will go to the land of Egypt, where we shall not see war, or hear the sound of the trumpet, or be hungry for bread, and we will dwell there,'	14 hanem így szóltok: ‘Nem! Inkább Egyiptom földjére megyünk, ahol nem látunk majd harcot, kürtszót sem hallunk, és kenyérre sem éhezünk; ott fogunk lakni’,
15 then hear the word of the LORD, O remnant of Judah. Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: If you set your faces to enter Egypt and go to live there,	15 akkor halljátok most azért az Úr igéjét, Júda maradéka! Így szól a Seregek Ura, Izrael Istene: Ha mindenképp Egyiptomba szándékoztok menni, és odamentek, hogy ott lakjatok mint jövevények,
16 then the sword which you fear shall overtake you there in the land of Egypt; and the famine of which you are afraid shall follow hard after you to Egypt; and there you shall die.	16 a kard, amelytől féltek, ott ér utol titeket Egyiptom földjén; és az éhínség, amely miatt aggódtok, ott jár nyomotokban Egyiptomban, s ott fogtok meghalni.
17 All the men who set their faces to go to Egypt to live there shall die by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence; they shall have no remnant or survivor from the evil which I will bring upon them.	17 Minden ember, aki Egyiptomba szándékozik menni, hogy ott lakjék mint jövevény, kard, éhínség és dögvész által fog meghalni; nem lesz köztük senki, aki megmarad és megmenekül a bajtól, melyet rájuk hozok.
18 "For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: As my anger and my wrath were poured out on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so my wrath will be poured out on you when you go to Egypt. You shall become an execration, a horror, a curse, and a taunt. You shall see this place no more.	18 Mert így szól a Seregek Ura, Izrael Istene: Ahogy kiáradt haragom és indulatom Jeruzsálem lakóira, úgy árad ki rátok indulatom, ha Egyiptomba mentek; átokká és borzadállyá, átkozódás és gyalázat tárgyává lesztek, és nem látjátok meg többé ezt a helyet.«
19 The LORD has said to you, O remnant of Judah, 'Do not go to Egypt.' Know for a certainty that I have warned you this day	19 Így szól az Úr rólatok, Júda maradéka: »Ne menjetek Egyiptomba! Tudjátok meg jól, hogy figyelmeztettelek ma benneteket!
20 that you have gone astray at the cost of your lives. For you sent me to the LORD your God, saying, 'Pray for us to the LORD our God, and whatever the LORD our God says declare to us and we will do it.'	20 Mert saját magatokat csaptátok be, hiszen ti küldtetek engem az Úrhoz, a ti Istenetekhez, mondván: ‘Könyörögj értünk az Úrhoz, a mi Istenünkhöz! Ahogy az Úr, a mi Istenünk mondja, úgy adj tudtunkra mindent, és mi megtesszük!’
21 And I have this day declared it to you, but you have not obeyed the voice of the LORD your God in anything that he sent me to tell you.	21 Tudtotokra adtam ma, de nem hallgattatok az Úrnak, a ti Isteneteknek szavára semmiben, amivel hozzátok küldött engem.
22 Now therefore know for a certainty that you shall die by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence in the place where you desire to go to live."	22 Most tehát tudjátok meg jól, hogy kard, éhínség és dögvész által fogtok meghalni azon a helyen, ahová menni kívántok, hogy ott lakjatok mint jövevények!«
