Isaiah 18

1 Ah, land of whirring wings which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia;	1 Guai alla terra dal cembalo alato, che è oltre i fiumi dell'Etiopia,
2 which sends ambassadors by the Nile, in vessels of papyrus upon the waters! Go, you swift messengers, to a nation, tall and smooth, to a people feared near and far, a nation mighty and conquering, whose land the rivers divide.	2 la quale manda attraverso il mare ambasciatori su barche di papiro che van per l'acqua. Andate, nunzi veloci, alla nazione sconvolta e lacerata, al terribile popolo oltre il quale non ve n'è altro, alla nazione che aspetta calpestata, la cui terra è portata via dai fiumi.
3 All you inhabitants of the world, you who dwell on the earth, when a signal is raised on the mountains, look! When a trumpet is blown, hear!	3 Voi tutti, abitatori del mondo che dimorate sulla terra, quando lo stendardo sarà inalzato sui monti, lo vedrete, e sentirete il suono della tromba.
4 For thus the LORD said to me: "I will quietly look from my dwelling like clear heat in sunshine, like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest."	4 Perchè il Signore mi dice: « Starò in riposo, a vedere dalla mia dimora come luce splendente nel meriggio, come nube di rugiada al tempo della raccolta.
5 For before the harvest, when the blossom is over, and the flower becomes a ripening grape, he will cut off the shoots with pruning hooks, and the spreading branches he will hew away.	5 Avanti la raccolta, tutto fiorito germoglierà splendidamente senza giungere a maturare, e i suoi tralci saran recisi colla falce, e ciò che rimarrà sarà troncato e gettato via.
6 They shall all of them be left to the birds of prey of the mountains and to the beasts of the earth. And the birds of prey will summer upon them, and all the beasts of the earth will winter upon them.	6 E saran tutti abbandonati agli uccelli dei monti, alle bestie della terra; gli uccelli passeran sopra di loro tutta l'estate, e sopra di loro sverneranno le bestie della terra ».
7 At that time gifts will be brought to the LORD of hosts from a people tall and smooth, from a people feared near and far, a nation mighty and conquering, whose land the rivers divide, to Mount Zion, the place of the name of the LORD of hosts.	7 In quel tempo saran portati doni al Signore degli eserciti, dal popolo sconvolto e lacerato, dal terribile popolo oltre il quale non ve n'è altro, dalla nazione che aspetta, che aspetta calpestata, la cui terra è portata via dai fiumi, (saran portati) alla dimora del Nome del Signore degli eserciti, alla montagna di Sion.
