Sirach 29

1 He that shows mercy will lend to his neighbor, and he that strengthens him with his hand keeps the commandments.	1 Quello che fae misericordia, prèsta al prossimo suo; e chi è largo e splendido, osserva li comandamenti.
2 Lend to your neighbor in the time of his need; and in turn, repay your neighbor promptly.	2 Prèsta al prossimo tuo nel tempo della sua necessitade, e ancora rendi al prossimo nel tempo suo.
3 Confirm your word and keep faith with him, and on every occasion you will find what you need.	3 Conferma la parola tua, e fa fedelmente con lui; e in ogni tempo troverai quello che t'è necessario.
4 Many persons regard a loan as a windfall, and cause trouble to those who help them.	4 Molti stimarono lo prèsto sì come uno trovamento, e prestarono gravezza a coloro che li aiutarono.
5 A man will kiss another's hands until he gets a loan, and will lower his voice in speaking of his neighbor's money; but at the time for repayment he will delay, and will pay in words of unconcern, and will find fault with the time.	5 Infino ch' elli ricevono, basciano le mani di colui che dà, e umiliano la loro voce nella promissione.
6 If the lender exert pressure, he will hardly get back half, and will regard that as a windfall. If he does not, the borrower has robbed him of his money, and he has needlessly made him his enemy; he will repay him with curses and reproaches, and instead of glory will repay him with dishonor.	6 E nel tempo dello rimeritare domanderanno. Enel tempo, e parleranno parole increscevoli, e causerassi il tempo del mormoramento.
7 Because of such wickedness, therefore, many have refused to lend; they have been afraid of being defrauded needlessly.	7 E s'elli potrae rendere, si li sarà contrario, e appena del soldo renderà il mezzo; e computarae quello, come se tu l'avessi trovato.
8 Nevertheless, be patient with a man in humble circumstances, and do not make him wait for your alms.	8 Ma se lui non potrà (ritenere che non la restituisca), cercherà di defraudarti, e diventerà tuo nimico per sua propria voglia.
9 Help a poor man for the commandment's sake, and because of his need do not send him away empty.	9 Villania e mali detti ti renderae, e per lo onore e per lo beneficio ti renderà villanie.
10 Lose your silver for the sake of a brother or a friend, and do not let it rust under a stone and be lost.	10 Molti non per cagione di malvagitade non prestarono, ma temerono d' essere defraudati spontaneamente.
11 Lay up your treasure according to the commandments of the Most High, and it will profit you more than gold.	11 E per tanto sii di forte animo sopra lo umile, e per la limosina non lo ti fare venire dietro.
12 Store up almsgiving in your treasury, and it will rescue you from all affliction;	12 Per lo comandamento ricevi il povero; e per inopia nollo lasciare ire da te vuoto.
13 more than a mighty shield and more than a heavy spear, it will fight on your behalf against your enemy.	13 Perdi la pecunia per lo tuo fratello e per lo amico, e non la nascondere sotto la pietra in perdizione.
14 A good man will be surety for his neighbor, but a man who has lost his sense of shame will fail him.	14 Poni il tesoro tuo nelli comandamenti di Dio, e gioverae più che tutto l'oro.
15 Do not forget all the kindness of your surety, for he has given his life for you.	15 Rinchiudi la limosina nel seno del povero, e questa medesima adorerae per te, e liberaratti da ogni male.
16 A sinner will overthrow the prosperity of his surety,	16 (La limosina dello uomo è sì come uno sacchetto con lui, e conserverae la grazia dell' uomo, sì come la pupilla dell' occhio).
17 and one who does not feel grateful will abandon his rescuer.	17 (E poi si rilevarae e rimeritarae a loro la retribuzione, a ciascuno nel capo loro). Sopra il scudo del potente, e più che lancia, combatterà contro al nimico tuo.
18 Being surety has ruined many men who were prosperous, and has shaken them like a wave of the sea; it has driven men of power into exile, and they have wandered among foreign nations.	18 Il buono uomo farae fede al prossimo suo;
19 The sinner who has fallen into suretyship and pursues gain will fall into lawsuits.	19 e chi la perderae, si farae confusione.
20 Assist your neighbor according to your ability, but take heed to yourself lest you fall.	20 Non dimenticare la grazia di quello che è stato per te securità; per che ello diede per te l'anima sua.
21 The essentials for life are water and bread and clothing and a house to cover one's nakedness.	21 Il peccatore schifa la repromissione.
22 Better is the life of a poor man under the shelter of his roof than sumptuous food in another man's house.	22 Il peccatore intitola a sè li beni del promettitore; e colui che è isconoscente per senno ch' egli abbandonoe colui che liberoe lui.
23 Be content with little or much.	23 L'uomo ripromette del prossimo suo; e quando egli averae perduto la reverenza, sarà abbandonato da lui.
24 It is a miserable life to go from house to house, and where you are a stranger you may not open your mouth;	24 La malvagissima promissione molti dirizzanti perse, e commosse coloro sì come tempesta di mare.
25 you will play the host and provide drink without being thanked, and besides this you will hear bitter words:	25 Avvolgendosi fece passare altrove uomini potenti, e andarono vagabondi in genti straniere.
26 "Come here, stranger, prepare the table, and if you have anything at hand, let me have it to eat."	26 Lo peccatore, trapassante li comandamenti del Signore, caderà nella malvagia repromissione; e colui che sforzerae molte cose, cadrae nel giudicio.
27 "Give place, stranger, to an honored person; my brother has come to stay with me; I need my house."	27 Ricupera il prossimo secondo la possanza tua, e attendi a te sì che tu non caggi.
28 These things are hard to bear for a man who has feeling: scolding about lodging and the reproach of the moneylender.	28 Il principio della vita dell' uomo vuole acqua e pane, vestimento e casa che ricopra la vergogna.
	29 Meglio è la vita del povero sotto il coperto d'assi, che molti conviti in peregrinazione sanza casa.
	30 Statti contento di quel poco che tu hai, e non udirailo impropero della peregrinazione.
	31 La vita mala è andar peregrino di casa in casa; e dove albergherae, non sarà con fiducia, e non aprirà la bocca sua.
	32 Albergherae e pascerassi, e sosterrà li ingrati, e udirà molte cose dispiacevoli.
	33 (E saralli detto): va, ospite, e prepara la mensa (tua); e di quelle cose che tu hai, pasci gli altri.
	34 Esci fuori dalla faccia delli miei amici; dal bisogno della mia casa egli è venuto il mio fratello.
	35 Queste cose sono gravi a uomo sensato; la correzion della casa, e lo improperio di colui che prèsta.
