1 Solomon the son of David established himself in his kingdom, and the LORD his God was with him and made him exceedingly great.	1 Salomone, figlio di Davide, si consolidò nel suo regno; il Signore, suo Dio, fu con lui e lo rese straordinariamente grande.
2 Solomon spoke to all Israel, to the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, to the judges, and to all the leaders in all Israel, the heads of fathers' houses.	2 Salomone parlò a tutto Israele, ai capi di migliaia e di centinaia, ai magistrati, a tutti i prìncipi di tutto Israele e ai capifamiglia.
3 And Solomon, and all the assembly with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for the tent of meeting of God, which Moses the servant of the LORD had made in the wilderness, was there.	3 Indi Salomone insieme a tutta l'assemblea si recò sull'altura situata a Gàbaon, giacché là si trovava la tenda del convegno di Dio che Mosè, servo del Signore, aveva costruito nel deserto.
4 (But David had brought up the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim to the place that David had prepared for it, for he had pitched a tent for it in Jerusalem.)	4 Ma l'arca di Dio Davide l'aveva trasportata da Kiriat-Iearìm al luogo che egli aveva preparato per essa. Infatti egli aveva innalzato per essa una tenda in Gerusalemme.
5 Moreover the bronze altar that Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, had made, was there before the tabernacle of the LORD. And Solomon and the assembly sought the LORD.	5 L'altare di bronzo costruito da Besaleèl, figlio di Uri, figlio di Cur, si trovava là di fronte alla dimora del Signore. Ivi si recarono a consultarlo Salomone e l'assemblea.
6 And Solomon went up there to the bronze altar before the LORD, which was at the tent of meeting, and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it.	6 Là Salomone salì sull'altare di bronzo davanti al Signore, che era presso la tenda del convegno, e sopra di esso offrì mille olocausti.
7 In that night God appeared to Solomon, and said to him, "Ask what I shall give you."	7 In quella notte Dio apparve a Salomone e gli disse: "Chiedimi ciò che ti debbo dare".
8 And Solomon said to God, "Thou hast shown great and steadfast love to David my father, and hast made me king in his stead.	8 Salomone rispose a Dio: "Tu hai trattato con Davide, mio padre, con grande benevolenza e mi hai fatto regnare al suo posto.
9 O LORD God, let thy promise to David my father be now fulfilled, for thou hast made me king over a people as many as the dust of the earth.	9 Ora, Signore Dio, si avveri la tua promessa fatta a Davide, mio padre, perché tu mi hai fatto regnare sopra un popolo numeroso come la polvere della terra.
10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge to go out and come in before this people, for who can rule this thy people, that is so great?"	10 Concedimi ora sapienza e senno, in modo da poter guidare questo popolo, perché chi mai potrebbe governare questo tuo popolo così grande?".
11 God answered Solomon, "Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked possessions, wealth, honor, or the life of those who hate you, and have not even asked long life, but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself that you may rule my people over whom I have made you king,	11 Allora Dio rispose a Salomone: "Poiché ti sta a cuore questo e non hai chiesto né ricchezza né beni né gloria né la vita dei tuoi nemici e poiché non hai chiesto nemmeno una vita lunga, ma hai chiesto sapienza e senno per governare il mio popolo, sul quale ti ho costituito re,
12 wisdom and knowledge are granted to you. I will also give you riches, possessions, and honor, such as none of the kings had who were before you, and none after you shall have the like."	12 sapienza e senno ti saranno concessi. Inoltre ti darò anche ricchezza, beni e gloria quali non ebbero mai i re che ti precedettero né avranno quelli che verranno dopo di te".
13 So Solomon came from the high place at Gibeon, from before the tent of meeting, to Jerusalem. And he reigned over Israel.	13 Salomone ritornò dall'altura di Gàbaon a Gerusalemme, lontano dalla tenda del convegno. Egli regnò su Israele.
14 Solomon gathered together chariots and horsemen; he had fourteen hundred chariots and twelve thousand horsemen, whom he stationed in the chariot cities and with the king in Jerusalem.	14 Salomone radunò carri e cavalli; ebbe così millequattrocento carri e dodicimila cavalieri, che installò nelle città dei carri e presso il re a Gerusalemme.
15 And the king made silver and gold as common in Jerusalem as stone, and he made cedar as plentiful as the sycamore of the Shephelah.	15 Il re fece in modo che l'argento e l'oro fossero in Gerusalemme abbondanti come le pietre e i cedri come i sicomori che crescono nella Sefela.
16 And Solomon's import of horses was from Egypt and Kue, and the king's traders received them from Kue for a price.	16 Il luogo da cui provenivano i cavalli di Salomone era Muzri e Kue; i mercanti del re li prendevano a Kue dietro pagamento.
17 They imported a chariot from Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty; likewise through them these were exported to all the kings of the Hittites and the kings of Syria.	17 Essi facevano venire e importavano da Muzri un carro per seicento sicli d'argento e un cavallo per centocinquanta. Per tramite loro ne importavano per i re degli Hittiti e per i re di Aram.
	18 Salomone decise di costruire un tempio al nome del Signore e una reggia per sé.
