1 Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the leaders of the fathers' houses of the people of Israel, before King Solomon in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Zion.	1 Entonces Salomón reunió junto a él en Jerusalén, a los ancianos de Israel, a todos los jefes de las tribus y a los príncipes de las casas paternas de los israelitas, para subir el Arca de la Alianza del Señor desde la Ciudad de David, o sea, desde Sión.
2 And all the men of Israel assembled to King Solomon at the feast in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month.	2 Todos los hombres de Israel se reunieron junto al rey Salomón en el mes de Etaním –el séptimo mes– durante la Fiesta.
3 And all the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark.	3 Cuando llegaron todos los ancianos de Israel, los sacerdotes levantaron el Arca,
4 And they brought up the ark of the LORD, the tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the tent; the priests and the Levites brought them up.	4 y subieron el Arca del Señor, con la Carpa del Encuentro y todos los objetos sagrados que había en la Carpa. Los que trasladaron todo eso fueron los sacerdotes y los levitas.
5 And King Solomon and all the congregation of Israel, who had assembled before him, were with him before the ark, sacrificing so many sheep and oxen that they could not be counted or numbered.	5 Mientras tanto, el rey Salomón y toda la comunidad de Israel reunida junto a él delante del Arca, sacrificaban carneros y toros, en tal cantidad que no se los podía contar ni calcular.
6 Then the priests brought the ark of the covenant of the LORD to its place, in the inner sanctuary of the house, in the most holy place, underneath the wings of the cherubim.	6 Los sacerdotes introdujeron el Arca de la Alianza en su sitio, en el lugar santísimo de la Casa –el Santo de los santos– bajo las alas de los querubines.
7 For the cherubim spread out their wings over the place of the ark, so that the cherubim made a covering above the ark and its poles.	7 Porque los querubines desplegaban sus alas sobre el sitio destinado al Arca, y resguardaban por encima el Arca y sus andas.
8 And the poles were so long that the ends of the poles were seen from the holy place before the inner sanctuary; but they could not be seen from outside; and they are there to this day.	8 Las andas eran tan largas que sus extremos se veían desde el Santo, por delante del lugar santísimo, aunque no se las veía desde afuera. Allí han estado hasta el día de hoy.
9 There was nothing in the ark except the two tables of stone which Moses put there at Horeb, where the LORD made a covenant with the people of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.	9 En el Arca se encontraban únicamente las dos tablas de piedra que Moisés, en el Horeb, había depositado allí: las tablas de la Alianza que el Señor había hecho con los israelitas a su salida de Egipto.
10 And when the priests came out of the holy place, a cloud filled the house of the LORD,	10 Mientras los sacerdotes salían del Santo, la nube llenó la Casa del Señor,
11 so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud; for the glory of the LORD filled the house of the LORD.	11 de manera que los sacerdotes no pudieron continuar sus servicios a causa de la nube, porque la gloria del Señor llenaba la Casa.
12 Then Solomon said, "The LORD has set the sun in the heavens, but has said that he would dwell in thick darkness.	12 Entonces Salomón dijo: «El Señor ha decidido habitar en la nube oscura.
13 I have built thee an exalted house, a place for thee to dwell in for ever."	13 Sí, yo te he construido la Casa de tu señorío, un lugar donde habitarás para siempre».
14 Then the king faced about, and blessed all the assembly of Israel, while all the assembly of Israel stood.	14 Después el rey se volvió y bendijo a toda la asamblea de Israel, mientras esta permanecía de pie.
15 And he said, "Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who with his hand has fulfilled what he promised with his mouth to David my father, saying,	15 El dijo: «Bendito sea el Señor, el Dios de Israel, que ha cumplido con su mano lo que su boca había anunciado a mi padre David, cuando le dijo:
16 'Since the day that I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city in all the tribes of Israel in which to build a house, that my name might be there; but I chose David to be over my people Israel.'	16 «Desde el día en que hice salir de Egipto a mi pueblo Israel, no había elegido ninguna ciudad, entre todas las tribus de Israel, para que allí se edificara una Casa donde residiera mi Nombre, sino que elegí a David para que estuviera al frente de mi pueblo Israel».
17 Now it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of the LORD, the God of Israel.	17 Mi padre David pensó edificar una Casa para el Nombre del Señor, el Dios de Israel.
18 But the LORD said to David my father, 'Whereas it was in your heart to build a house for my name, you did well that it was in your heart;	18 Pero el Señor dijo a mi padre David: «Tú has pensado edificar una Casa para mi Nombre, y has hecho bien al pensar así.
19 nevertheless you shall not build the house, but your son who shall be born to you shall build the house for my name.'	19 Sin embargo, no serás tú el que edificará la Casa, sino un hijo nacido de tus entrañas; él construirá la Casa para mi Nombre».
20 Now the LORD has fulfilled his promise which he made; for I have risen in the place of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and I have built the house for the name of the LORD, the God of Israel.	20 Y el Señor cumplió la palabra que había dicho: yo he sucedido a mi padre David, y me he sentado en el trono de Israel, como lo había dicho el Señor. Yo edifiqué la Casa para el Nombre del Señor,
21 And there I have provided a place for the ark, in which is the covenant of the LORD which he made with our fathers, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt."	21 y allí he asignado un lugar para el Arca, donde se encuentra la Alianza que el Señor concluyó con nuestros padres cuando los hizo salir del país de Egipto».
22 Then Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in the presence of all the assembly of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven;	22 Salomón se puso ante el altar del Señor, frente a toda la asamblea de Israel, extendió sus manos hacia el cielo
23 and said, "O LORD, God of Israel, there is no God like thee, in heaven above or on earth beneath, keeping covenant and showing steadfast love to thy servants who walk before thee with all their heart;	23 y dijo: «Señor, Dios de Israel, ni arriba en el cielo ni abajo en la tierra hay un Dios como tú, que mantienes la Alianza y eres fiel con tus servidores, cuando caminan delante de ti de todo corazón.
24 who hast kept with thy servant David my father what thou didst declare to him; yea, thou didst speak with thy mouth, and with thy hand hast fulfilled it this day.	24 Tú has cumplido, en favor de mi padre David, la promesa que le habías hecho, y hoy mismo has realizado con tu mano lo que había dicho tu boca.
25 Now therefore, O LORD, God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father what thou hast promised him, saying, 'There shall never fail you a man before me to sit upon the throne of Israel, if only your sons take heed to their way, to walk before me as you have walked before me.'	25 Y ahora, Señor, Dios de Israel, cumple en favor de tu servidor David, mi padre, la promesa que le hiciste, diciendo: «Nunca te faltará un descendiente que esté sentado delante de mí en el trono de Israel, con tal que tus hijos vigilen su conducta, caminando en mi presencia como has caminado tú».
26 Now therefore, O God of Israel, let thy word be confirmed, which thou hast spoken to thy servant David my father.	26 Y ahora, Dios de Israel, que se verifique la promesa que hiciste a mi padre, tu servidor David.
27 "But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have built!	27 Pero ¿es posible que Dios habite realmente en la tierra? Si el cielo y lo más alto del cielo no pueden contenerte, ¡cuánto menos esta Casa que yo he construido!
28 Yet have regard to the prayer of thy servant and to his supplication, O LORD my God, hearkening to the cry and to the prayer which thy servant prays before thee this day;	28 No obstante, Señor, Dios mío, vuelve tu rostro hacia la oración y la súplica de tu servidor, y escucha el clamor y la oración que te dirige hoy tu servidor.
29 that thy eyes may be open night and day toward this house, the place of which thou hast said, 'My name shall be there,' that thou mayest hearken to the prayer which thy servant offers toward this place.	29 Que tus ojos estén abiertos día y noche sobre esta Casa, sobre el lugar del que tú dijiste: «Allí residirá mi Nombre». ¡Escucha la oración que tu servidor dirige hacia este lugar!
30 And hearken thou to the supplication of thy servant and of thy people Israel, when they pray toward this place; yea, hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place; and when thou hearest, forgive.	30 ¡Escucha la súplica y la oración que tu servidor y tu pueblo Israel dirijan hacia este lugar! ¡Escucha desde tu morada en el cielo, escucha y perdona!
31 "If a man sins against his neighbor and is made to take an oath, and comes and swears his oath before thine altar in this house,	31 Cuando un hombre peque contra su prójimo, si se lo obliga a prestar el juramento imprecatorio, y él viene a pronunciar la imprecación ante tu altar, en esta Casa,
32 then hear thou in heaven, and act, and judge thy servants, condemning the guilty by bringing his conduct upon his own head, and vindicating the righteous by rewarding him according to his righteousness.	32 escucha tú desde el cielo, actúa y juzga a tus servidores: condena al culpable, dándole su merecido, y absuelve al inocente, tratándolo según su justicia.
33 "When thy people Israel are defeated before the enemy because they have sinned against thee, if they turn again to thee, and acknowledge thy name, and pray and make supplication to thee in this house;	33 Cuando tu pueblo Israel sea derrotado por el enemigo por haber pecado contra ti, si ellos se vuelven hacia ti y celebran tu Nombre, si oran y te suplican en esta Casa,
34 then hear thou in heaven, and forgive the sin of thy people Israel, and bring them again to the land which thou gavest to their fathers.	34 escucha tú desde el cielo: perdona el pecado de tu pueblo Israel y tráelo de nuevo a la tierra que diste a sus padres.
35 "When heaven is shut up and there is no rain because they have sinned against thee, if they pray toward this place, and acknowledge thy name, and turn from their sin, when thou dost afflict them,	35 Cuando se cierre el cielo y no haya lluvia, porque ellos pecaron contra ti, si oran hacia este lugar, si celebran tu Nombre y se convierten de su pecado, porque tú los humillaste,
36 then hear thou in heaven, and forgive the sin of thy servants, thy people Israel, when thou dost teach them the good way in which they should walk; and grant rain upon thy land, which thou hast given to thy people as an inheritance.	36 escucha tú desde el cielo: perdona el pecado de tus servidores y de tu pueblo Israel, mostrándoles el buen camino que deben seguir, y envía lluvia a la tierra que diste en herencia a tu pueblo.
37 "If there is famine in the land, if there is pestilence or blight or mildew or locust or caterpillar; if their enemy besieges them in any of their cities; whatever plague, whatever sickness there is;	37 Cuando haya hambre en el país, o haya peste, quemazón o plaga en los sembrados, langosta o pulgón; cuando el enemigo lo tenga sitiado en alguna de sus ciudades, o sobrevenga un flagelo o epidemia,
38 whatever prayer, whatever supplication is made by any man or by all thy people Israel, each knowing the affliction of his own heart and stretching out his hands toward this house;	38 cualquiera sea la oración o la súplica que te dirija un miembro de tu pueblo Israel, sintiéndose tocado en su corazón y con las manos extendidas hacia esta Casa,
39 then hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and act, and render to each whose heart thou knowest, according to all his ways (for thou, thou only, knowest the hearts of all the children of men);	39 escúchalas tú desde el cielo, desde el lugar donde habitas; escucha y actúa: trátalo a cada uno según su conducta, tú que conoces su corazón, porque sólo tú conoces el corazón de todos los humanos.
40 that they may fear thee all the days that they live in the land which thou gavest to our fathers.	40 Así los israelitas sentirán temor de ti mientras vivan en el suelo que diste a sus padres.
41 "Likewise when a foreigner, who is not of thy people Israel, comes from a far country for thy name's sake	41 También al extranjero, que no pertenezca a tu pueblo Israel, y llegue de un país lejano a causa de tu Nombre
42 (for they shall hear of thy great name, and thy mighty hand, and of thy outstretched arm), when he comes and prays toward this house,	42 –porque se oirá hablar de tu gran Nombre, de tu mano poderosa y de tu brazo extendido– cuando él venga a orar hacia esta Casa,
43 hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to thee; in order that all the peoples of the earth may know thy name and fear thee, as do thy people Israel, and that they may know that this house which I have built is called by thy name.	43 escucha tú desde el cielo, desde el lugar donde habitas, y concede al extranjero todo lo que te pida. Así todos los pueblos de la tierra conocerán tu Nombre, sentirán temor de ti cómo tu pueblo Israel, y sabrán que esta Casa, que yo he construido, es llamada con tu Nombre.
44 "If thy people go out to battle against their enemy, by whatever way thou shalt send them, and they pray to the LORD toward the city which thou hast chosen and the house which I have built for thy name,	44 Cuando tu pueblo salga a combatir contra su enemigo, por el camino que tú le señales, si ellos oran al Señor y vueltos hacia la ciudad que tú has elegido y hacia la Casa que yo edifiqué para tu Nombre,
45 then hear thou in heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause.	45 escucha tú desde el cielo esa oración y esa súplica, y hazles justicia.
46 "If they sin against thee--for there is no man who does not sin--and thou art angry with them, and dost give them to an enemy, so that they are carried away captive to the land of the enemy, far off or near;	46 Cuando pequen contra ti –porque no hay hombre que no peque– y tú, irritado contra ellos, los pongas a merced del enemigo, y sus vencedores los lleven cautivos a un país enemigo, próximo o lejano,
47 yet if they lay it to heart in the land to which they have been carried captive, and repent, and make supplication to thee in the land of their captors, saying, 'We have sinned, and have acted perversely and wickedly';	47 si en el país al que han sido deportados reflexionan y se convierten, si en el país de sus vencedores te suplican, diciendo: «¡Hemos pecado, somos culpables, hemos cometido el mal!»;
48 if they repent with all their mind and with all their heart in the land of their enemies, who carried them captive, and pray to thee toward their land, which thou gavest to their fathers, the city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy name;	48 si en el país de los enemigos que los hayan deportado se vuelven hacia ti de todo corazón y con toda el alma, si te suplican en dirección al país que diste a sus padres, a la ciudad que tú has elegido y a la Casa que yo edifiqué para tu Nombre,
49 then hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause	49 escucha tú desde el cielo, desde el lugar donde habitas, esa oración y esa súplica y hazles justicia:
50 and forgive thy people who have sinned against thee, and all their transgressions which they have committed against thee; and grant them compassion in the sight of those who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on them	50 perdona a tu pueblo los pecados que haya cometido contra ti y todas las rebeldías de las que se hizo culpable; concédeles que sus enemigos se compadezcan de ellos,
51 (for they are thy people, and thy heritage, which thou didst bring out of Egypt, from the midst of the iron furnace).	51 porque son tu pueblo y tu herencia, la que tú hiciste salir de Egipto, del horno de fuego.
52 Let thy eyes be open to the supplication of thy servant, and to the supplication of thy people Israel, giving ear to them whenever they call to thee.	52 Que tus ojos estén abiertos a la súplica de tu servidor y de tu pueblo Israel, para escucharlos cada vez que te invoquen,
53 For thou didst separate them from among all the peoples of the earth, to be thy heritage, as thou didst declare through Moses, thy servant, when thou didst bring our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord GOD."	53 porque tú los separaste para ti de entre todos los pueblos, a fin de que fueran tu herencia, como lo dijiste tú mismo, Señor, por medio de tu servidor Moisés, cuando hiciste salir de Egipto a nuestros padres».
54 Now as Solomon finished offering all this prayer and supplication to the LORD, he arose from before the altar of the LORD, where he had knelt with hands outstretched toward heaven;	54 Cuando Salomón terminó de dirigir al Señor toda esta oración y esta súplica, se levantó de delante del altar del Señor, donde estaba arrodillado con las manos extendidas hacia el cielo.
55 and he stood, and blessed all the assembly of Israel with a loud voice, saying,	55 Y puesto de pie, bendijo en voz alta a toda la asamblea de Israel, diciendo:
56 "Blessed be the LORD who has given rest to his people Israel, according to all that he promised; not one word has failed of all his good promise, which he uttered by Moses his servant.	56 «¡Bendito sea el Señor, que ha dado a su pueblo el descanso, conforme a todo lo que había dicho! No ha caído por tierra ninguna de las promesas que él hizo por medio de tu servidor Moisés.
57 The LORD our God be with us, as he was with our fathers; may he not leave us or forsake us;	57 ¡Que el Señor, nuestro Dios, esté con nosotros como lo estuvo con nuestros padres, que no nos abandone ni nos rechace!
58 that he may incline our hearts to him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, his statutes, and his ordinances, which he commanded our fathers.	58 ¡Que incline nuestro corazón hacia él, para que vayamos por todos sus caminos y observemos sus mandamientos, sus preceptos y sus leyes, que él dio a nuestros padres!
59 Let these words of mine, wherewith I have made supplication before the LORD, be near to the LORD our God day and night, and may he maintain the cause of his servant, and the cause of his people Israel, as each day requires;	59 Que estas súplicas que yo he pronunciado en presencia del Señor, nuestro Dios, estén presentes ante él día y noche, para que haga justicia a su servidor y a su pueblo Israel, según la necesidad de cada día.
60 that all the peoples of the earth may know that the LORD is God; there is no other.	60 Así sabrán todos los pueblos de la tierra que el Señor es Dios, y no hay otro;
61 Let your heart therefore be wholly true to the LORD our God, walking in his statutes and keeping his commandments, as at this day."	61 y el corazón de ustedes pertenecerá íntegramente al Señor, nuestro Dios, para caminar según sus preceptos y observar sus mandamientos, como en el día de hoy».
62 Then the king, and all Israel with him, offered sacrifice before the LORD.	62 El rey, y con él todo Israel, ofrecieron sacrificios delante del Señor.
63 Solomon offered as peace offerings to the LORD twenty-two thousand oxen and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the people of Israel dedicated the house of the LORD.	63 Salomón inmoló, como sacrificios de comunión en honor del Señor, veintidós mil bueyes y ciento veinte mil carneros. Así, el rey y todos los israelitas dedicaron la Casa del Señor.
64 The same day the king consecrated the middle of the court that was before the house of the LORD; for there he offered the burnt offering and the cereal offering and the fat pieces of the peace offerings, because the bronze altar that was before the LORD was too small to receive the burnt offering and the cereal offering and the fat pieces of the peace offerings.	64 Aquel día, el rey consagró el centro del atrio que está delante de la Casa del Señor, ofreciendo allí el holocausto, la oblación y la grasa de los sacrificios de comunión, porque el altar de bronce que está delante del Señor resultaba demasiado pequeño para contener los holocaustos, las oblaciones y la grasa de los sacrificios de comunión.
65 So Solomon held the feast at that time, and all Israel with him, a great assembly, from the entrance of Hamath to the Brook of Egypt, before the LORD our God, seven days.	65 En aquella ocasión, Salomón, y con él todo Israel, celebró la Fiesta delante del Señor, nuestro Dios, durante siete días. Se congregó una gran asamblea, venida desde la Entrada de Jamat hasta el Torrente de Egipto.
66 On the eighth day he sent the people away; and they blessed the king, and went to their homes joyful and glad of heart for all the goodness that the LORD had shown to David his servant and to Israel his people.	66 Al octavo día, Salomón despidió al pueblo. Ellos bendijeron al rey y se fueron a sus campamentos, con el corazón desbordante de alegría por todo el bien que el Señor había hecho a su servidor David y a su pueblo Israel.
