1 Abraham took another wife, whose name was Keturah.	1 Abramo prese un'altra moglie: essa aveva nome Chetura.
2 She bore him Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah.	2 Essa gli partorì Zimran, Ioksan, Medan, Madian, Isbak e Suach.
3 Jokshan was the father of Sheba and Dedan. The sons of Dedan were Asshurim, Letushim, and Le-ummim.	3 Ioksan generò Saba e Dedan e i figli di Dedan furono gli Asurim, i Letusim e i Leummim.
4 The sons of Midian were Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abida, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah.	4 I figli di Madian furono Efa, Efer, Enoch, Abida ed Eldaa. Tutti questi sono i figli di Chetura.
5 Abraham gave all he had to Isaac.	5 Abramo diede tutti i suoi beni a Isacco.
6 But to the sons of his concubines Abraham gave gifts, and while he was still living he sent them away from his son Isaac, eastward to the east country.	6 Quanto invece ai figli delle concubine, che Abramo aveva avute, diede loro doni e, mentre era ancora in vita, li licenziò, mandandoli lontano da Isacco suo figlio, verso il levante, nella regione orientale.
7 These are the days of the years of Abraham's life, a hundred and seventy-five years.	7 La durata della vita di Abramo fu di centosettantacinque anni.
8 Abraham breathed his last and died in a good old age, an old man and full of years, and was gathered to his people.	8 Poi Abramo spirò e morì in felice canizie, vecchio e sazio di giorni, e si riunì ai suoi antenati.
9 Isaac and Ishmael his sons buried him in the cave of Mach-pelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, east of Mamre,	9 Lo seppellirono i suoi figli, Isacco e Ismaele, nella caverna di Macpela, nel campo di Efron, figlio di Zocar, l'Hittita, di fronte a Mamre.
10 the field which Abraham purchased from the Hittites. There Abraham was buried, with Sarah his wife.	10 È appunto il campo che Abramo aveva comperato dagli Hittiti: ivi furono sepolti Abramo e sua moglie Sara.
11 After the death of Abraham God blessed Isaac his son. And Isaac dwelt at Beer-lahai-roi.	11 Dopo la morte di Abramo, Dio benedisse il figlio di lui Isacco e Isacco abitò presso il pozzo di Lacai-Roi.
12 These are the descendants of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's maid, bore to Abraham.	12 Questa è la discendenza di Ismaele, figlio di Abramo, che gli aveva partorito Agar l'Egiziana, schiava di Sara.
13 These are the names of the sons of Ishmael, named in the order of their birth: Nebaioth, the first-born of Ishmael; and Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam,	13 Questi sono i nomi dei figli d'Ismaele, con il loro elenco in ordine di generazione: il primogenito di Ismaele è Nebaiòt, poi Kedar, Adbeèl, Mibsam,

15 Hadad, Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah.	15 Adad, Tema, Ietur, Nafis e Kedma.
16 These are the sons of Ishmael and these are their names, by their villages and by their encampments, twelve princes according to their tribes.	16 Questi sono gli Ismaeliti e questi sono i loro nomi secondo i loro recinti e accampamenti. Sono i dodici principi delle rispettive tribù.
17 (These are the years of the life of Ishmael, a hundred and thirty-seven years; he breathed his last and died, and was gathered to his kindred.)	17 La durata della vita di Ismaele fu di centotrentasette anni; poi morì e si riunì ai suoi antenati.
18 They dwelt from Havilah to Shur, which is opposite Egypt in the direction of Assyria; he settled over against all his people.	18 Egli abitò da Avìla fino a Sur, che è lungo il confine dell'Egitto in direzione di Assur; egli si era stabilito di fronte a tutti i suoi fratelli.
19 These are the descendants of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham was the father of Isaac,	19 Questa è la discendenza di Isacco, figlio di Abramo. Abramo aveva generato Isacco.
20 and Isaac was forty years old when he took to wife Rebekah, the daughter of Bethuel the Aramean of Paddan-aram, the sister of Laban the Aramean.	20 Isacco aveva quarant'anni quando si prese in moglie Rebecca, figlia di Betuèl l'Arameo, da Paddan-Aram, e sorella di Làbano l'Arameo.
21 And Isaac prayed to the LORD for his wife, because she was barren; and the LORD granted his prayer, and Rebekah his wife conceived.	21 Isacco supplicò il Signore per sua moglie, perché essa era sterile e il Signore lo esaudì, così che sua moglie Rebecca divenne incinta.
22 The children struggled together within her; and she said, "If it is thus, why do I live?" So she went to inquire of the LORD.	22 Ora i figli si urtavano nel suo seno ed essa esclamò: "Se è così, perché questo?". Andò a consultare il Signore.
23 And the LORD said to her, "Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples, born of you, shall be divided; the one shall be stronger than the other, the elder shall serve the younger."	23 Il Signore le rispose: "Due nazioni sono nel tuo seno e due popoli dal tuo grembo si disperderanno; un popolo sarà più forte dell'altro e il maggiore servirà il più piccolo".
24 When her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.	24 Quando poi si compì per lei il tempo di partorire, ecco due gemelli erano nel suo grembo.
25 The first came forth red, all his body like a hairy mantle; so they called his name Esau.	25 Uscì il primo, rossiccio e tutto come un mantello di pelo, e fu chiamato Esaù.
26 Afterward his brother came forth, and his hand had taken hold of Esau's heel; so his name was called Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when she bore them.	26 Subito dopo, uscì il fratello e teneva in mano il calcagno di Esaù; fu chiamato Giacobbe. Isacco aveva sessant'anni quando essi nacquero.
27 When the boys grew up, Esau was a skilful hunter, a man of the field, while Jacob was a quiet man, dwelling in tents.	27 I fanciulli crebbero ed Esaù divenne abile nella caccia, un uomo della steppa, mentre Giacobbe era un uomo tranquillo, che dimorava sotto le tende.
28 Isaac loved Esau, because he ate of his game; but Rebekah loved Jacob.	28 Isacco prediligeva Esaù, perché la cacciagione era di suo gusto, mentre Rebecca prediligeva Giacobbe.
29 Once when Jacob was boiling pottage, Esau came in from the field, and he was famished.	29 Una volta Giacobbe aveva cotto una minestra di lenticchie; Esaù arrivò dalla campagna ed era sfinito.
30 And Esau said to Jacob, "Let me eat some of that red pottage, for I am famished!" (Therefore his name was called Edom. )	30 Disse a Giacobbe: "Lasciami mangiare un po' di questa minestra rossa, perché io sono sfinito" - Per questo fu chiamato Edom -.
31 Jacob said, "First sell me your birthright."	31 Giacobbe disse: "Vendimi subito la tua primogenitura".
32 Esau said, "I am about to die; of what use is a birthright to me?"	32 Rispose Esaù: "Ecco sto morendo: a che mi serve allora la primogenitura?".
33 Jacob said, "Swear to me first." So he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob.	33 Giacobbe allora disse: "Giuramelo subito". Quegli lo giurò e vendette la primogenitura a Giacobbe.
34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentils, and he ate and drank, and rose and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright.	34 Giacobbe diede ad Esaù il pane e la minestra di lenticchie; questi mangiò e bevve, poi si alzò e se ne andò. A tal punto Esaù aveva disprezzato la primogenitura.
