1 - Davide convocò a Gerusalemme tutti i capi d'Israele, i principi delle tribù e i capi delle divisioni che servivano al re; e anche i tribuni e i centurioni e quelli che erano stati preposti ai beni e ai possedimenti del re, i figli suoi cogli eunuchi, coi potenti e con tutti i più valenti uomini dell'esercito.	1 And so David called together all the leaders of Israel, the rulers of the tribes, and those in charge of the companies, who were ministering to the king, and also the tribunes and centurions, and those in charge of the substance and possessions of the king, and his sons, with the eunuchs and the powerful and those most experienced in the army, at Jerusalem.
2 Levatosi quindi il re e tenendosi in piedi, disse: «Ascoltatemi, fratelli miei e popolo mio: io pensai di edificare una casa dove collocare l'arca dell'alleanza del Signore e lo sgabello dei piedi del Dio nostro e ho preparato tutto quel che occorre per la costruzione.	2 And when the king had risen up and was standing, he said: “Listen to me, my brothers and my people. I thought that I would build a house, in which the ark of the covenant of the Lord, the footstool of our God, might rest. And so I prepared everything for its building.
3 Ma il Signore mi disse: - Tu non edificherai la casa al mio nome, poichè sei uomo di guerra e hai versato sangue. -	3 But God said to me: ‘You shall not build a house to my name, because you are a man of war, and have shed blood.’
4 Il Signore Dio d'Israele ha tuttavia eletto me fra tutta la casa del padre mio per essere re sopra Israele in sempiterno, poichè da Giuda egli ha eletto i capi; dalla casa di Giuda ha scelto la casa del padre mio, e tra tutti i figli del padre mio gli piacque eleggere me per essere re sopra tutto Israele.	4 Now the Lord God of Israel chose me, out of the entire house of my father, so that I would be king over Israel forever. For from Judah he chose leaders; then from the house of Judah he chose the house of my father; and from the sons of my father, it pleased him to choose me as king over all of Israel.
5 Ma anche tra i figli miei (poichè il Signore diede a me molti figli) ha scelto Salomone mio figlio per assidersi sul trono del regno del Signore sopra Israele.	5 Then too, among my sons (for the Lord has given me many sons) he chose Solomon my son, so that he would sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the Lord, over Israel.
6 Ed egli mi ha detto: - Salomone tuo figlio edificherà la mia casa e i miei atrii, perchè io me lo sono eletto in figlio, e io sarò per lui un padre,	6 And he said to me: ‘Solomon your son shall build my house and my courts. For I have chosen him to be to me as a son, and I will be to him as a father.
7 e confermerò il suo regno per sempre, se persevererà ad osservare i miei precetti e le mie leggi come fa oggi. -	7 And I will make firm his kingdom, even unto eternity, if he will persevere in doing my precepts and judgments, as also today.’
8 Ora adunque al cospetto di tutto Israele, mentre Dio ci ascolta, custodite e prendetevi a cuore tutti i comandi del Signore Dio nostro, affinchè possediate la terra buona e la lasciate in eredità ai figli vostri, dopo di voi, fino all'eternità.	8 Now therefore, before the entire assembly of Israel, in the hearing of our God, keep and seek all the commandments of the Lord our God, so that you may possess the good land, and may bequeath it to your sons after you, even forever.
9 Tu poi, o figliuolo mio Salomone, conosci il Dio di tuo padre e servilo con cuore perfetto e con animo volenteroso, poichè il Signore scruta tutti i cuori e conosce tutti i pensieri delle nostre menti. Se lo cercherai, lo troverai, ma se tu lo abbandonerai, egli ti rigetterà per sempre.	9 And as for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve him with a perfect heart and a willing mind. For the Lord searches all hearts, and understands the thoughts of all minds. If you seek him, you will find him. But if you abandon him, he will cast you aside for eternity.
10 Ora adunque che il Signore ti ha eletto per edificare la casa del santuario, fatti animo e mettiti all'opera».	10 Now therefore, since the Lord has chosen you, so that you would build the house of the Sanctuary, be strengthened and accomplish it.”
11 Davide diede a Salomone suo figlio il disegno del portico, del tempio, delle tesorerie, delle camere superiori, delle camere interne e della casa della propiziazione.	11 Then David gave to his son Solomon a description of the portico, and the temple, and the storerooms, and the upper floor, and the innermost rooms, and the house of propitiation,
12 Inoltre [il disegno] di tutto ciò ch'egli aveva pensato relativamente agli atrii e a tutte le stanze in giro pei tesori della casa del Signore e per i tesori delle cose sante,	12 and indeed also of all the courts that he had planned, and the outer rooms on all sides, for the treasuries of the house of the Lord, and for the treasuries of the holy things,
13 e intorno alle classi dei sacerdoti e dei leviti e intorno a tutto ciò che riguardava il servizio della casa del Signore e tutti gli utensili per il servizio del tempio del Signore.	13 and for the divisions of the priests and the Levites: concerning all the works of the house of the Lord and all the items in the ministry of the temple of the Lord.
14 Gli consegnò l'oro secondo il peso da dare ai singoli oggetti per il servizio, e il peso dell'argento per gli oggetti e per i vari utensili.	14 There was gold by weight for every vessel of the ministry, and also silver by weight for the diversity of vessels and equipment.
15 Parimenti gli diede l'oro per i candelabri d'oro e per le loro lucerne, secondo la misura di ciascun candelabro e di ciascuna lucerna; come pure il peso dell'argento per i candelabri d'argento e per le loro lucerne secondo le varie misure.	15 Then too, he distributed gold for the lampstands and their lamps, according to the measure of each of the lampstands with their lamps. Similarly also, he distributed silver by weight for the silver lampstands with their lamps, according to the diversity of their measure.
16 Gli diede altresì l'oro per le tavole della proposizione, secondo le varie misure, come pure l'argento per le altre tavole d'argento.	16 Also, he gave gold for the tables of the presence, according to the diversity of the tables; similarly too, he gave silver for the other tables of silver.
17 Similmente per le forchette, per le tazze, per i turiboli di oro purissimo, per i leoncini d'oro, distribuì il peso secondo le varie misure per ciascuno; anche per i leoncini d'argento separò il peso d'argento conveniente.	17 Also, he distributed from the purest gold for the small hooks and the bowls and the censors, as well as for the little lions of gold, in accord with the precise measure of the weight, for lion after lion. Similarly too, for the lions of silver, he set aside a different weight of silver.
18 Per l'altare poi, sul quale è bruciato l'incenso, fornì oro purissimo, come pure per fare le figure della quadriga dei cherubini, che stendono le ali e che cuoprono l'arca dell'alleanza del Signore.	18 Then, for the altar on which the incense was burned, he gave the purest gold. And from the same he made the likeness of the chariot of the Cherubim, with extended wings, which is veiling the ark of the covenant of the Lord.
19 «Tutto ciò» egli disse «è stato scritto a me dalla mano del Signore, affinchè avessi a conoscere il modello di tutte le opere da farsi».	19 “All these things,” he said, “came to me written by the hand of the Lord, so that I would understand all the works of the pattern.”
20 Disse ancora Davide a Salomone suo figlio: «Fatti animo, prendi coraggio e poni mano all'opera; non temere e non ti spaventare, poichè il Signore Dio mio sarà con te, nè ti abbandonerà e non ti lascerà, finchè abbia condotto a termine ogni opera per il servizio della casa del Signore.	20 David also said to his son Solomon: “Act manfully, and be strengthened, and carry it out. You should not be afraid, and you should not be dismayed. For the Lord my God will be with you, and he will not send you away, nor will he abandon you, until you have perfected the entire work of the ministry of the house of the Lord.
21 Ecco, le classi dei sacerdoti e dei leviti ti assistono per ogni servizio della casa del Signore, e tanto i principi quanto il popolo sono dinanzi a te; essi son pronti e sanno eseguire tutti i tuoi comandi».	21 Behold, the divisions of the priests and the Levites, for every ministry of the house of the Lord, are standing before you. And they have been prepared, and so they know, both the leaders and the people, how to carry out all your precepts.”
