CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAINGREEK BIBLE
And in the right hand of the One sitting upon the throne, I saw a book, written inside and out, sealed with seven seals.1 Και ειδον εν τη δεξια του καθημενου επι του θρονου βιβλιον γεγραμμενον εσωθεν και οπισθεν, κατεσφραγισμενον με σφραγιδας επτα.
And I saw a strong Angel, proclaiming with a great voice, “Who is worthy to open the book and to break its seals?”2 Και ειδον αγγελον ισχυρον κηρυττοντα μετα φωνης μεγαλης? Τις ειναι αξιος να ανοιξη το βιβλιον και να λυση τας σφραγιδας αυτου;
And no one was able, neither in heaven, nor on earth, nor under the earth, to open the book, nor to gaze upon it.3 Και ουδεις ηδυνατο εν τω ουρανω, ουδε επι της γης ουδε υποκατω της γης να ανοιξη το βιβλιον ουδε να βλεπη αυτο.
And I wept greatly because no one was found worthy to open the book, nor to see it.4 Και εγω εκλαιον πολλα, οτι ουδεις ευρεθη αξιος να ανοιξη και να αναγνωση το βιβλιον ουτε να βλεπη αυτο.
And one of the elders said to me: “Weep not. Behold, the lion from the tribe of Judah, the root of David, has prevailed to open the book and to break its seven seals.”5 Και εις εκ των πρεσβυτερων μοι λεγει?
And I saw, and behold, in the midst of the throne and the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, a Lamb was standing, as if it were slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God, sent forth to all the earth.6 Και ειδον και ιδου εν μεσω του θρονου και των τεσσαρων ζωων και εν μεσω των πρεσβυτερων Αρνιον ισταμενον ως εσφαγμενον, εχον κερατα επτα και οφθαλμους επτα, οιτινες ειναι τα επτα πνευματα του Θεου τα απεσταλμενα εις πασαν την γην.
And he approached and received the book from the right hand of the One sitting upon the throne.7 Και ηλθε και ελαβε το βιβλιον εκ της δεξιας του καθημενου επι του θρονου.
And when he had opened the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having stringed instruments, as well as golden bowls full of fragrances, which are the prayers of the saints.8 Και οτε ελαβε το βιβλιον, τα τεσσαρα ζωα και οι εικοσιτεσσαρες πρεσβυτεροι επεσον ενωπιον του Αρνιου, εχοντες εκαστος κιθαρας και φιαλας χρυσας πληρεις θυμιαματων, αιτινες ειναι αι προσευχαι των αγιων?
And they were singing a new canticle, saying: “O Lord, you are worthy to receive the book and to open its seals, because you were slain and have redeemed us for God, by your blood, from every tribe and language and people and nation.9 και ψαλλουσι νεαν ωδην, λεγοντες? Αξιος εισαι να λαβης το βιβλιον και να ανοιξης τας σφραγιδας αυτου, διοτι εσφαγης και ηγορασας ημας εις τον Θεον δια του αιματος σου εκ πασης φυλης και γλωσσης και λαου και εθνους,
And you have made us into a kingdom and into priests for our God, and we shall reign over the earth.”10 και εκαμες ημας εις τον Θεον ημων βασιλεις και ιερεις, και θελομεν βασιλευσει επι της γης.
And I saw, and I heard the voice of many Angels surrounding the throne and the living creatures and the elders, (and their number was thousands of thousands)11 Και ειδον και ηκουσα φωνην αγγελων πολλων κυκλοθεν του θρονου και των ζωων και των πρεσβυτερων, και ητο ο αριθμος αυτων μυριαδες μυριαδων και χιλιαδες χιλιαδων,
saying with a great voice: “The Lamb who was slain is worthy to receive power, and divinity, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing.”12 λεγοντες μετα φωνης μεγαλης?
And every creature that is in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, and all that is within the sea: I heard them all saying: “To the One sitting upon the throne and to the Lamb be blessing, and honor, and glory, and authority, forever and ever.”13 Και παν κτισμα, το οποιον ειναι εν τω ουρανω και επι της γης και υποκατω της γης και οσα ειναι εν τη θαλασση και παντα τα εν αυτοις, ηκουσα οτι ελεγον?
And the four living creatures were saying, “Amen.” And the twenty-four elders fell down on their faces, and they adored the One who lives forever and ever.14 Και τα τεσσαρα ζωα ελεγον?
