2 “All you of Israel who have willingly offered your lives to danger, bless the Lord!	2 «Коли в Ізраїлі волосся запускають, коли народ іде у битву доброхітно, благословіте Господа!
3 Listen, O kings! Pay attention, O princes! It is I, it is I, who will sing to the Lord. I will sing a psalm to the Lord, the God of Israel!	3 Ось слухайте, царі, і ви, князі, вважайте! Я заспіваю Господеві, я воздам хвалу Господеві, Богові Ізраїля.
4 O Lord, when you departed from Seir, and you crossed through the regions of Edom, the earth and the heavens were moved, and the clouds rained down water.	4 Ой Господи, коли ти рушив був із Сеїру, коли виступив єси з полів едомських, земля здригнулась, небо краплями бризнуло, й хмари ринули водою.
5 The mountains flowed away before the face of the Lord, and Sinai, before the face of the Lord God of Israel.	5 Гори стряслись перед обличчям Господнім, отой Синай перед лицем Господа, Бога Ізраїля.
6 In the days of Shamgar, the son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the paths were quiet. And whoever entered by them, walked along rough byways.	6 За днів Шамгара, сина Аната, за днів Яели дороги опустіли, і подорожні мусіли ходити обхідними стежками.
7 The strong men ceased, and they rested in Israel, until Deborah rose up, until a mother rose up in Israel.	7 Князі в Ізраїлі перевелися, їх не стало, покіль не встала ти, Деворо, в Ізраїлі не встала матір’ю.
8 The Lord chose new wars, and he himself overturned the gates of the enemies. A shield with a spear was not seen among the forty thousand of Israel.	8 Нових богів собі вибирали, і ось війна у брамі. Ледве щита чи списа видно було в Ізраїлі на сорок тисяч!
9 My heart loves the leaders of Israel. All you who, of your own free will, offered yourselves during a crisis, bless the Lord.	9 Серце моє до дуків Ізраїля, до доброхітних у народі, — благословіте Господа!
10 You who ride upon donkeys laboring, and you who sit in judgment, and you who walk along the way, speak out.	10 Ой ви, що їздите звичайно на ослицях білих, ви, що сідаєте на килимах і ви, що мандруєте шляхами, співайте!
11 Where the chariots were struck together, and the army of the enemies was choked, in that place, let the justices of the Lord be described, and let his clemency be for the brave of Israel. Then did the people of the Lord descend to the gates, and obtain leadership.	11 Голосніш від лучників, що при водопійлах стада зганяють; там прославлятимуть Господні благодійства, благі діла його оруди в Ізраїлі; тоді Господній люд зійшов до брами.
12 Rise up, rise up, O Deborah! Rise up, rise up, and speak a canticle! Rise up, Barak, and seize your captives, O son of Abinoam.	12 Прокинсь, прокинсь, Деворо! Прокинсь, прокинся, заспівай пісню! Встань Вараче, і веди твоїх бранців, сину Авіноама!
13 The remnants of the people were saved. The Lord contended with the strong.	13 Тоді й останні стали немов вельможі, народ Господній став витязем!
14 Out of Ephraim, he destroyed those with Amalek, and after him, out of Benjamin, those of your people, O Amalek. From Machir, there descended leaders, and from Zebulun, those who led the army to war.	14 З Ефраїму спустились у долину, за тобою ж слідкував Веніямин зо своїм народом. З Махіру прийшли полководці, та й від Завулона ті, що держать берла.
15 The commanders of Issachar were with Deborah, and they followed the steps of Barak, who endangered himself, like one rushing headlong into a chasm. Reuben was divided against himself. Contention was found among great souls.	15 Князі, що в Іссахарі, з Деворою; і Іссахар такий, як і Варак, у долину кидались вони слідом за ним. Та в загонах Рувима вагалися люди вельми.
16 Why do you live between two borders, so that you hear the bleating of the flocks? Reuben was divided against himself. Contention was found among great souls.	16 Чому ти серед кошар розлігся? Щоб слухати серед отар сопілку? Поміж загонами Рувима довго серце вагалось.
17 Gilead rested beyond the Jordan, and Dan was occupied with ships. Asher was living on the shore of the sea, and dwelling in the ports.	17 Гілеад розсівся за Йорданом; а Дан — чого ж він при кораблях перебуває? Ашер сидить при лукомор’ї, при затоках своїх зостався.
18 Yet truly, Zebulun and Naphtali offered their lives to death in the region of Merom.	18 Завулон же, люд, що на смерть життям своїм важив, і Нафталі на плоскогір’ях країни.
19 The kings came and fought; the kings of Canaan fought at Taanach, beside the waters of Megiddo. And yet they took no spoils.	19 Прийшли царі та й заходилися воюватись; зчинили битву царі ханаанські під Танаахом, при Мегіддо-водах, здобичі-срібла не здобули.
20 The conflict against them was from heaven. The stars, remaining in their order and courses, fought against Sisera.	20 З неба зчинили битву зорі, з путей своїх ударили проти Сісери.
21 The torrent of Kishon dragged away their carcasses, the onrushing torrent, the torrent of Kishon. O my soul, tread upon the stalwart!	21 Потік Кішон ухопив їх, потік старовинний, потік Кішон! Благослови, душе моя, силу Господню!
22 The hoofs of the horses were broken, while the strongest of the enemies fled away with fury, and rushed on to ruin.	22 Тоді задудніли кінські копита, як гонили-мчали їхні потужні.
23 ‘Cursed be the land of Meroz!’ said the Angel of the Lord. ‘Cursed be its inhabitants! 24 Blessed among women is Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite. And blessed is she in her tabernacle.	24 Благословенна Яела серед жінок, дружина Хевера, кенія, благословенна серед жінок, що в шатрах.
25 He begged her for water, and she gave him milk, and she offered him butter in a dish fit for princes.	25 Води прохав, вона ж молока подала, у пишній чаші піднесла сметани.
26 She put her left hand to the nail, and her right hand to the workman’s mallet. And she struck Sisera, seeking in his head a place for the wound, and strongly piercing his temples.	26 Рукою ж по кілок сягнула, правицею за молотком трударів, та й ударила Сісеру і голову йому пробила, наскрізь пробила, скроню йому прошила.
27 Between her feet, he was ruined. He fainted away and passed on. He curled up before her feet, and he lay there lifeless and miserable.	27 До ніг її він похилився, упав, простягнувся; до ніг її похилився, повалився, — де поточився, там і впав, бездушний.
28 His mother gazed through a window and wailed. And she spoke from an upper room: ‘Why does his chariot delay in returning? Why are the feet of his team of horses so slow?’	28 Через вікно, вихилившись, виглядає, мати Сісери дивиться крізь ґрати: Чому загаялась його колісниця, не приходить? Чому забарилися його повози?
29 One who was wiser than the rest of his wives responded to her mother-in-law with this:	29 Найрозумніша з її князівен їй і відповідає, сама до себе стиха промовляє:
30 ‘Perhaps he is now dividing the spoils, and the most beautiful among the women is being selected for him. Garments of diverse colors are being delivered to Sisera as spoils, and various goods are being collected for the adornment of necks.’	30 Певно знайшли, певно паюють здобич: по дівчині, по дві на кожного вояка. Барвисті тканини для Сісери, барвисті гаптовані тканини. По дві гаптованих тканин на шию кожному здобиччю.
31 O Lord, so may all your enemies perish! But may those who love you shine with splendor, as the sun shines at its rising.”	31 Так хай загинуть, Господи, всі твої вороги! А ті, що тебе люблять, хай будуть немов сонце, що сходить у повній силі.» — І край мав спокій сорок років.
32 And the land rested for forty years.
